That depends on how much your income is, how much things cost where you live, which things you need, which things you want and which things you can afford to not get.

So yeah, the answer is different for everybody.

St. Thomas Aquinas (1225–1278) gave a burn so profound, it’s been remembered for 785 years.

He was a genius and a brilliant theologian.

But he was quiet, gentle, full of wonder, and the size of a fullback.

People mistook his innocence for idiocy when he was a young monk -

They called him The Dumb Ox.

One day, his fellow monks ran up to him and said:

“Thomas, come see! The pigs are flying in the sky!”

Thomas jumped up and bounded to the window.

The other monks shrieked with laughter.

He was silent for a minute, then quietly said:

I would rather believe pigs can fly, than that my brothers would lie to me.

Where you are giving may be more financially able. You are over your limit? Pay yourself first? Almost sure Bible supports giving of your abundance. If you are over budget, you have no abundance from which to give?

Sounds like a wise man.

Malachi chapter 3 ring a bell? Where in has a man robbed God? Through tithes and offerings. Dont foget it was Jesus who said given unto Cesar what is cesars and unto God what is Gods.

I am not sure so how about this verse>>>>Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.>>>I also am only recently, 5 yrs maybe trying to understand the Bible. Preachers I have listened to are of many 'opinions'.

Boy are they ever! And they will argue up, down, back, forth, sideways and diagonal about this! Both sides have lists of verses to back their claims, and both sides have well rehearsed counters for each other's verses. An argument about tithing becomes like a well-known dance that everybody goes through the steps, always knowing it will end in a stalemate but going through it anyway.

Personally I don't pay tithes because I feel I have to and I don't refuse to pay tithes because I feel I shouldn't have to. I pay my tithes because God has been good to me and because my church does good things in the neighborhood and I want them to be able to keep doing good things.

Jesus is refering to the scribes and pharasees, people who tithe and follow the law but dont show mercy and compassion on other human beings. Basically what some people would call legalists.

These verses refer to tribute. Sounds like a 'tithe'. Jesus seems to indicate again the 'leadership' is recognized reluctantly. He paid the tribute to fulfill the covenant He made with His Father. The corruption of the Temple and the 'leadership' is evident in 'every' incident involving the Temple. Plus look at lynx's post #614. My opinion is if your local congregation is honest, your money isn't needed or wanted by them.

That is what the AoG group I associate with told me. "It's not about the money and we don't want your money if that is keeping you from worshipping with us". We had a nice discussion regarding tithes. I do contribute what I feel is right. Probably less than I should. I am sort of like the 'prodigal' in the NT.

For many years I was spending just on alcohol, maybe between $20 and $40 daily and yet here I am writing on a Christian chat and talking to my local AoG assembly and watching online. If Jesus were really upset with me maybe I would have died on several occasions. I have the feeling we still get judged and maybe penalized somehow but that is up to Jesus to determine. Maybe I am whacked in the way I see this matter? If it were about money, where would I be? If Jesus needs more money, He will probably bring more wealthy people into "The Church".

Jesus will not kill you just for sinning, he gives you messages who tell you to repent, it's up to you to repent or not.
Death is a natural consequence since the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.

We will all die at one point or another, some naturally, others at the hands of another, others because of their sin, Only God knows for sure.

It's after that point we give account of our lives, good and evil, every word, thought and deed, some will enter heaven and most will go to hell.

He'll being the first choice of dealing with sin after Lucifer fell, and those going to heaven are not going because they deserve it or earned it.

They are going because they did what was right, they repented of their sins and strived to stay right with God and Accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Yes it is, he is doing his best, but sometimes I feel it's just enough to get by. In some cases I feel having him around is more of a liability than an asset.

A near death experience is something when I look back upon should instill a thankfulness of magnitude much greater than I seem capable of. (((((( Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. ))))) Maybe I'm getting presumptuous about my standing with Jesus. Never had anyone to talk with about these kinds of things. But now I do and will discuss this come Tuesday. The near-death experiences were accidental.
