Yeah the point is Christianity doesn't own marriage, as marriage predates Christianity
That makes about as much sense as saying Muslim marriages don't count because they're holy book gives different instructions on marriage
What you still don't get is that a marriage is between a man and a woman. Call it what you want, but it is impossible to consummate a union (marriage) of two people unless they possess to correct equipment.

Actually Christianity has the right to DEFINE what IS, and what ISN'T "marriage". The CREATOR has the right to define the matter in the absolute.

However, the CHRISTIAN DEFINITION of marriage has no legal standing Constitutionally in the U.S, and I never said it did.

But by the same token, U.S. LAW has no standing with God, who is the final judge in the matter, regardless of religious, or political paradigms.
Which is why men are expected to marry and forcibly impregnate their late brother's widow(s)...right?

It's actually God who forces His Rules. People rebel by their own will. We are just messengers for God to remind people of His Rules. And God in the flesh warned we would be persecuted because of Him and His Rules.

so that makes the persecution of LGBT individuals justified?

Knowing that God did not create a person to be attracted to the same sex and man has created the lie one is born this way means they are persecuting themselves.

Rebellion towards God and His Plan is the same as witchcraft.

As followers of God, all we can do is tell them the truth concerning God and pray for them.

But they're persecuting themselves through Rebellion towards God by their own choice.

I don't see how anyone can have a choice to whom he or she is attracted.
Just like you can't choose to be attracted to someone you don't find attractive.
Happens rarely but there are people who are born with both sets of genitalia. They are called intersex
So if a person can be born with both sets of genitalia then it's not that much of a stretch that someone's neurology could make them attracted to the same sex

Have you ever considered that when Adam and Eve were created perfect and without SIN if they never chose to SIN that all humans afterwards would have been born perfect and sinless like they were created.

But once they SINNED generations afterwards were now born no longer perfect but under the conditions of the cause and effect of SIN.

So it's not God who created this desire for humanity to be attracted to same sex but generations of SIN compounding with cause and effect.

This country has engaged in slavery, segregation, genocide, interment camps, forced migration, forced sterilizations, Native American boarding schools and so much more BUT it's going to be judged because of marriage equality?
Yes it is. Marriage is between a man and a woman, period. It is sacred to God.

I'm not an American, but the original question was "Christian response to gay marriage" What has that got to do with your country or constitution? As a Christian you may live in America, but you are now part of a greater eternal Kingdom and it is more important that your views as a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven should match that of your King, not the earthly country you live in.

My view is this, God plainly states what marriage is and what it is not. He didn't ask for man's opinion despite the fact they think they know better. They can call it a 'mariage' all they like. Legally in the eyes of man's law they can say they are married, but in the eyes of God they are not and never will be. satan seeks to destroy the Christian faith in the world and as he has done with many things, gay marriage is just a pale counterfeit of what a real marriage is and what it stands for.

Would I go to a gay wedding? No. But if I have to interact with gay people who claim to be married and the law agrees with them, then I shall treat them respect, love them and pray for them to come to know God and to see the truth. Condemnation will only harden their hearts toward God and it is not my job to judge them or condemn them because they do not ascribe to my beliefs, so they cannot be measured by that standard.
I agree with your comment to here. It doesn't matter the sin, you have to let people know they are lost. God has already condemned them. To not tell them the truth is to send their souls to hell. Homosexuality is already judged as sin. We must let the world know they are without hope without Him and that it is their sin that separates them from God.

the bible lists over 90 things that are abominations everything from Christmas trees to poly-cotton blend shirts to having tattoos but none of these other abominations are used as a justification for discrimination, A good sign that it has everything to do with prejudice.

If you don't believe the Bible, why are you here? The OT was speaking mainly to the Jews who were a chosen people. They were called out to be separate from the religions around them. That's why tattoos were wrong, they were called out to be different. The blend in shirts was because it was something the heathens around them wore. It was believed to have magical powers. Homosexuality is an abomination because it is a sin against ones own body. It's a misuse of what God intended sex to be. Has zero to do with prejudice.
