I have seen the first few episodes of "The Chosen". Recently, I was confronted by some church members that recommended I not watch it. They said it is close to "creating an image" and by watching it, we put Jesus in a box, because the show would never capture what he was like and would do a huge injustice just by trying.

Anyone have any thoughts on it? I know I've heard some preachers have spoken out against it (not sure who) Curious to see what you all think.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have watched a few episodes, but I couldn't get into it as some of my friends have. The man who plays Jesus didn't seem right to me. I loved Robert Powell who played in Jesus of Nazareth (1977). I don't know that anyone could embrace the role like he did. As for your friends comments, I think they have some value. Best way to get better acquainted is through your personal relationship, studying His Word and listening to His Spirit.

If you enjoy the series watch it.

The opinion others give means nothing unless you allow others to make up your mind based off their fears.
Which in the case of their claim of a false image of Jesus and whatnot, is absurd.
Every movie made of the Bible stories would fall under that judgement.

Don't take it too seriously. It's a good series.
I find that so far the series has shown the human side of what he could of possibly been like. Made me appreciate that he felt pain and the sacrifice was a real one. It’s can be easy just to know it happened and not ponder to much on the details.

So now we gotta wait another year of the next season?

Did you watch the special where they got the reactions from some Gen Z's?
I finally watched that special and it’s amazing to see what the movie alone can do for these kids.
Hallelujah and glory to God.

Aww! Is it really another year until season 4 or is it sooner if they have/get the funds to film?

I’m pretty sure it’s going to take a year since that’s how it worked with previous seasons too.
It’s all right, I keep rewatching my favorite episodes every time I need to, it’s always such a nice change of pace from all the crap programs nowadays.

A I heard they are going to start filming S4 the end of March and possibly first episode showing before end of the year or beginning of next year.

Amen. It is very encouraging to see young people who have been at odds with "the church"
and Christianity being so genuinely moved by the Person and work of Jesus Christ :)

As a new Christian, I can not tell you how much this series has helped me understand a lot of my questions. It has also raised a lot more :)

The show has driven me to delve into the Bible and really look at the history of the times that Christ lived in. I'm not a big fan of the NIV, so I look up the scriptures and stories in the KJV. My husband introduced me to the Blue Letter Bible website which has been a boon!

What I like most about the show is how it addresses the humanity of Jesus and the Apostles. I feel closer to them because they aren't someplace off on a high mountain I can never reach, but real people who went through situations as I have gone through and how they went to God to remedy those issues. It's very inspiring.

I've shared the Angle Studios' website with my family, but so far - no one will watch it. Very concerned about their salvation as I believe time is very short. Things are just happening so quickly of late. Or maybe, I just look at things differently now.

I absolutely love the series and can't say enough good things about it. It really has helped me and many others to search the scriptures and get to know them more deeply!

Oh wow, @Magenta !! I was going through the 'Extras" part of the Chosen website and came across the testimony of Meghan Conners. I had to share it with my husband. I was moved to tears. What an extraordinary woman to face so much, come to Christ, and do so much to help those who are now in her situation. I guess God really wants her with him. Bless her precious heart <3 and thank you for sharing that link!

Great video, @Magenta!! I hope a lot of people will watch it. I saw a tweet yesterday with a person rebuking Mr. Jenkins for his satanic misrepresentation of the Gospel and the fellow told Dallas to repent!

As a new Christian, I find the show fills in a lot of the blanks about our human condition and how to bring that to God for resolution. The story of Mary, as depicted in the show, speaks to me a great deal given some of my past and the testimony I gave about being delivered from possession. It's made me more hungry for the Word of God. I pray this will be the case for others as well. It will continue to be my prayer as the series moves forward.

This catching of fish happens in the last chapter of John but in the movie it is at
the beginning of Jesus' ministry when he calls the disciples to follow Him?
It is unfortunate that such movie/series makers feel such a great
need to alter what was written to such an extreme degree.
I was looking up some info on Mormonism and found this.

It takes great liberties in creating dialogs and events that were not recorded in scripture.

For that reason I think it's more intended as fiction than anything to be taken as seriously related to the gospel of Christ.

I believe you are right.
The creator of the series disagrees though. He has a Biblical accuracy committee or whatever term he uses to make sure it is accurate to the Gospels. He claims to be evangelical, yet I just posted a short video that shows how it quoted from the Book of Mormon.
