The church is to have a corporate event..for we are the body of CHRIST.
There are many members of the body and many different gifts that each have and should use to exhort one another. Coming together in one accord is how the church first started.
Revelation 18:4 KJV
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

2 John 1:9 KJV
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
The foundation of tongues and emotional experiences is a very fragile foundation. It will not stand.

Wow just wow you hit the nail I couldnt have said it better,
How exactly am I quenching the Holy Spirit? In your own personal view, explain to me how I'm doing that. If you want to use scripture that's fine, but explain to me why you think it applies to me.

Here's a biblical example where experiences are not as trustworthy as the word of God.
Good morning,

I would like to know your thoughts on this in KY. I have seen a revival and experienced it. I have learned many things as I am sure you all have also about revival what is and what is not.

One of the biggest killers of "Revival" from what I see in church History is when the following HAPPENS :

  1. People trying to recreate what God has done
  2. Making movement out of the Move of God over following God as He moves.
  3. No Accountability, correction, or addressing error when happens
  4. the abandonment of the word of God and replaced by what is believed to be a move of God or an emotional experience.
  5. OvereEmphasis on demons or principalities that must be confronted.
  6. those who come in with hidden agendas or establishing a personality for later moves.
What do you all think?

I thank you all in advance
Even Peter stated that his experience on the mount of transfiguration was not as sure as the word of God. The word of God must be at the center of any revival. Singing is an emotional response, but cannot bring about change. Only the word of God can change hearts. Again, true revival stirs the hearts of the people where they go out and preach the gospel publicly and privately.

The Collegiate Day of Prayer is set for tomorrow and will be livestreamed from Asbury University. This is the culmination of what this "revival" has been all about. See this for the unbelievable and shocking reality: https://baptistnews.com/article/que...ondering-if-asbury-is-hosting-a-true-revival/.

According to this source:

"Every February, faculty and students at Asbury University have one thing on their minds — revival. At their special two-hour chapel in Hughes Auditorium Feb. 3, 2020, they showed a documentary called 'When God Comes: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary' of the 1970 Asbury Revival."
This was in 2020 but it shows the revival mindset at Asbury.

The Collegiate Day of Prayer put out the following promotional video featuring Francis Chan on February 1, 2023. The description below the video says:

"Let's ADOPT and saturate EVERY CAMPUS in America in prayer (go to http://collegiatedayofprayer.org to adopt a campus) and join us LIVE from Asbury University on Feb 23rd at 8-10pm ET with special guests Rick Warren, Francis Chan, Allen Hood and worship leaders from International House of Prayer, Circuit Riders + Black Voices Movement, and Met By Love Worship. Let’s believe God for REVIVAL amongst believers on college campuses and SPIRITUAL AWAKENING amongst the lost. Father, revive the saved and save the lost!!"
Asbury University was the designated location for this event from the get-go. Apparently, the "revival" was merely the warm-up act for the main show tomorrow.

No mention of the word of God, just song leaders and three false teachers.:cautious:

The only issue I have with what's going on in Asbury is it wasn't a spontaneous outpouring of the Holy Spirit; it was a setup from the beginning. So yeah, number 1 would apply here: people trying to create what they think a spontaneous outpouring should look like.

I hope there will be people who benefit in some way from this counterfeit revival. God can use anything for His glory.

What makes you think it was set up? In what manner?

Revival is supposed to be people getting saved and church members reviving. It's sad how evangelist and pentecostal crowds think it's just praying in tongues loud. I always cringe because the Bible says if there's no interpretation to pray in tongues silently. These supposed men of God make a big show of loud tongues. It's obvious we control the volume if we are commanded to keep quiet. The best true revival gets people dedicated to God and put away the worldly tv and video games. If anything the church could use some sanctification. If someone's not preaching against adultery and filthy living then it's not revival. People need to get right with the Lord. Bible and holy living.

Again, it's a non denominational school. They were teaching enough of the Word that it caused thousands of people to travel to the area just to see what was happening.

To me it seems like a charismatic movement seeking an experience rather than God’s word. Why are they concentrated on singing songs rather than the preaching of the word of God? True revival stirs and convicts people’s hearts to go out and preach the gospel publicly and privately. Time will tell. But the fact is people are flooding there seeking an experience. That can be a dangerous thing.

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

They did both, I was watching live stream. My family went there and many friends.

It was planned around the Collegiate Day of Prayer. Chan's video was posted February 1, way before the "revival" started. The description of the video shows Asbury was planned as the site for the event from the beginning. Just a coincidence that "revival" broke out leading up to February 23? A person would have to be pretty naive to think so. I wasn't there so I don't know the mechanics of how it actually got going, but there must've been a sense of expectancy in the air. It didn't just happen organically; at least I seriously doubt it did.

No matter where you stand on "Asbury Revival," yes, it is, or no its not. One thing that is good it has brought national attention to the church and Christians. And many people are returning to Church to see if the experience is there that is happening in Asbury.

I think we should not blow this opportunity. what do you all think?

? where is?

KY, is that Kentucky in the USA.
Is it just one church or a whole area. Details please. What is happening. Whas everyone 'dead' before or sleeping. What has been 'revived' or is it just everyone dressing up in 1950s clothes again?

It began in Ky, there are about 20 colleges who have had the same experience. Services continued on for over a week. They had thousands visiting in Ky and it took 7hrs to get in. All I know who attended said it was very sincere.

I was just about to say the same thing.

The Book of Acts 2:17
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
yje spirit speaks to the spirit

People think they have to travel from all over the country to Wilmore, KY to have an encounter with Jesus. To me this demonstrates an incredible lack of Biblical literacy and sound doctrine. All a person has to do to encounter Jesus is go to their secret place and pray. Apparently, no one at Asbury is telling people this; they'd rather keep the show going. The whole thing reminds me of Roman Catholics who travel all over the place to have an encounter with a statue that weeps, or whatever other weird thing.

"And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words."

No, they didn't promote this, they did not ask people to come. It's a small town and all these people coming did not make things easier for people in the town. And it's happening in more and more locations.

Alot of these show great promise, however, once the emotional "high" wears off. Unless the people are in a proper discipleship relationship. many of these fall apart. Because the people get back in the world and the feeling is lost and they go back to what they were before.

Billy graham said one of the things he regretted the most was that he did nto make sure all these people at his conferences were taken care of after.. A new child of God sent out into the world would quickly crumble with no support.. I see no difference with people who were saved and come back..

I've shown the clear evidence. If you want to ignore it or don't believe it I guess that's up to you.

A meeting isn't a revival. I've attended dozens of churches that say on the sign "revival tonight". They preach, they sing, we go home. May do it for three nights in a row. Mostly just the people from that church attend. This wasn't that situation. I think your evidence is clear to you, but my sister attended and I think I'll lean a little more on eye witness.

Not sure why people are up in arms.. Christmas and Easter are pagan Holidays the catholic church twisted into a christian holiday. Do we not worship these days because they are pagan? God works all things for the good my bible says,, He has used these pagan holidays for much good through the centuries. Who is to say he can't use this for good??

How exactly am I quenching the Holy Spirit? In your own personal view, explain to me how I'm doing that. If you want to use scripture that's fine, but explain to me why you think it applies to me.
The holy spirit works and operates like fire and often times even comes in tge form of fire a spark is created a flame starts this is Gods doing he creates that sparks and a flame arises if the holy spirit is burning you dpnt douse it you fan it so it spreads.

If God is clearly using his holy spirit creating a fire that is spreading even as we speak and you just keep deny it's power and source your just trying to douse the flame and honestly as harsh as this may seem but when he is clearly at a mighty work here you continuously deny it and rejecting his work is a slap in the face to the holy spirit himself your not just quenching the spirit your calling him a dake

But in the end I just feel bad for you there are things xoming and things he is going to do that your going to miss out on you stay at a distabce when it comes to the spirit of God or anything spiritual of him and your first instinct is doubt skepticism you are fine with talking about the word of God but when it comes alove before your eyes you turn away you literally are just a scholar of the word and yet how blind you are to the word you have your knowledge of it but don't forget he is both spirit and truth you cannot have one without the other.

It always pleases the Father when His children draw themselves in what they believe is conformity with His will.
This is an outpouring of Spirit in response to praise, gratitude, worship, people being healed of life long affliction, merely standing in line.
