Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

That reminds of some thing so important. I got prayed for to get rid of my social anxiety a couple months ago, but I didn't really start seeing the results till I've actually belevied that God has already healed me of that social anxiety. It should work the same way with porn shouldn't it?

Absolutely--Praise the Lord.

I will add you to my prayer list too Dothack.

Find something that excites you more behind closed doors than staring at a screen with disrobed people.

based on my experience, i guess the only way is to stay faithful to God, and stay away fr temptation by diverting yourself into other meaningful things like reading books, make some music, or sport activities.

Yeah, depriving your body of two needs instead of one will definitely make things better.

This might seem counter-intuitive to fast and deprive yourself of food for a day but the reality is, there is a spiritual element to fasting that draws us closer to God. Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness before he began his teaching ministry. He set the example for us to follow.

Whenever I've fasted for spiritual reasons, it wasn't just to see how long I could deprive myself of some basic desire. It was about using that raw, nagging emptiness to draw me to the Source of true sustenance--the Bread of Life. "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4

The truth is, there really is a God-shaped void inside all of us that only He can fill. If we fast for a day (or more) it gets our mind and body in tune with our spiritual emptiness and allows God to fill us up in every way. God promises to honor our desire to make him number One in our lives. "Delight yourselves inthe Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart" Psalm 37:4

Also: But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." 2 Corinthians 12:9 Admitting our weakness is the gateway to receiving Christ's power to overcome.

So yeah, I've been trying to beat it for a while now(With God's help), and I'm still having problems getting over the 2 weeks with out it on average. So I'm wondering what guys are did to beat it.

There is not a way to 'beat it', not permanently, as long as you are alive you will struggle with this weakness, there is a reason that an alcoholic is still an alcoholic even if they haven't had a drink for 50 years, it is a daily fight that will only truly end when your life ends.

The challenge is to discover all the things that help you win the daily battle and those are different for each of us, if you can generally go 2 weeks without porn try to find out what it is that helps you during that time period and see if they can be expanded on, also take the recommendations given here and try purusing the things mentioned that you have not so far tried to incoroporate into your daily life.

The more things you incorporate into your life to fight it, the more you take away it's power, and the easier you will find it.

Well not all porn addiction occur with the same situation. in my case it was loneliness for others it might be peer pressure or another influence. So it will be adviceable for one to observe the causes off your porn and try to avoid it at all cost.. once that thought come, try to do something instead of giving in. (read the word, or pray. or try to go and chat with your neighbour)

Looks like it's mostly just lonelness and lack of faith in my case. I haven't looked since 9/5/11, and it got soo much easier once I got the faith that God is going to provide me with a girlfriend.

Nope. It's a lot more than just loneliness and lack of faith, as IF porn has you hooked then you got a lot bigger problems than that because doing THAT will make Satan so happy and you are , worst of all, choosing to put down your shield of protection and God can NOT protect you when you are choosing Satan's pleasures.

Now, I will speak for myself, have I battled porn ?

YES !

The Lord leads, and I was not following as porn was hurting me badly around the same age (age 25) u are now , dotdude, and, I prayed to God what to do and how to end it. And He delivered me
I will say this for the practical of why porn will kill you off...

Dotdude, you said in your other thread about 'shyness' : I know God will provide me a wife .

No, you, if you have porn, will never have a wife, at least NEVER BE HAPPY, because you will be stuck on porn. And it will eat your soul. A girl, when I was 25, told me porn was sh**.

That got me thinking... How about the verse in the bible about Jesus telling people that a dog will return to its own vómit. That is sooo true ! Porn is that same kind of throw-up. Not only that but when you throw up the very act of doing it or trying to do it is sooo sick , not to mention, can be especially painful when you so bad WANT to throw up but can't !!

You just need God to get through this porn and LISTEN to Him as maybe a respected elder at your church or even pastor can be the person/people God uses so you CAN BEAT this. PM me anytime.

I am praying for you, dotdude, with God, ALL things are possible and , fact is, you will NEVER be be able to look/act/be right with porn inside you. Know porn, NO wife. :(

God bless you, young man. :)

I don't normally look at this type of thread, but felt led to read this one.....wow :). I like knowing how guys think, and this thread has quite a lot of info in it; I read every post, even the ones the other girls posted. There are a few things I wanted to say, Dothackzero. First of all, glad to see that you've been clean for about 5 weeks.
Probably what caught my attention the most was when you said that the reason that you wanted to stop looking at porn was to get a girlfriend. Wrong reason for a believer to stop sinning. Although the Lord apparently helped you quit, which I'm glad of, we need to follow Him even if it means being romantically unattached for our entire lives, though that's very rarely the case. Also, telling your dad was probably the thing that you needed to do. An exception would be if he's physically violent or you know that he'd tell everyone he knows. Confession is important ("Confess your sins one to another" as the Bible says, and you know that it carries more weight with someone you know rather than people on the internet), and the threat of social embarrassment helps us stay on the right track.
I do agree that smart girls don't want a guy who looks at porn. There's no way I'm going to try to compete with those images. Not only would I worry that it would be too hard for the man I was seeing to be well behaved concerning not going too far physically before we were married, but I'd be scared to death that he'd compare my body to those of the girls he had been looking at. It's been said that all females are born with an inferiority complex. I'm not saying that this is true, but we almost always compare ourselves to each other, so even if you wouldn't care what your wife's body looked like, SHE WOULD, and she would feel horrible knowing that the girls you were looking at were "hotter" than she, EVEN IF YOU NEVER SAID SO OR EVEN ALLUDED TO IT OR EVEN BELIEVED IT. We have to fight to keep from caring too much about what you guys think (probably mainly due to woman being created to help man; doesn't make us ANY less important or loved by God, but it does affect us). If we know you've been looking at porn....well, let me just say that I'd SO much rather have a husband who was the wildest person you can imagine but met Jesus and did a complete 180 degree turn, than to have a man who decided that it was fine to look at pornography when he was single, since "it's not physical or anything; this will be fine until I find a wife". Even if he didn't cheat on me after we were married, I'd feel.....not completely unloved, but very underloved. I'd always wonder if I was really his first choice, or if it was more of a "Ummm..... good enough, I guess" marriage.

To the OP: You voiced concern about installing Covenant Eyes because you father might find it. In my opinion, you should talk with your father about your porn addiction because addictions hold their strength in silence. As others have posted, addictions are rarely beaten in a solo battle, christian accountability is key to success in beating porn addictions.

I strongly encourage you to to get Covenant Eyes, it is NOT a filter, it reports visits to questionable sites to an accountability partner. It also reports to your accountability partner if it is deactivated (no cheating). I also encourage you to become involved in a recovery group of some sort, many churches have sex addiction recovery groups because it has become such a prevalent problem in the church both for men and women. If your church doesn't have one it is likely that one in your area does. Another good resource is Sex Addiction Recovery Resources: Sex, Sex Addiction, Counseling, Sex Books, Sex Videos, Heart to Heart Counseling Center .

Have you even actually done anything besides make obsessive posts about it to try and overcome this addiction? Have you gotten an accountability partner, installed the filter on your computer, signed up for setting captives free.... Or do you just like to whine about it? And I'm seriously asking ...
