I appreciate all said it is hard. Please do pray. I pray 🙏 in all my free time just to have my wife bring up something to talk about or comment on what I say to her. I know God is listening and working beside the scenes. It just hurts!!!

Thank you!! I know God is listening and us working behind the scenes. It just hurts to see no real communication between us. I like to talk a lot and do. She looks on or gives me a blank share most of the time! Sometimes I want to find someone just to chat with on occasions. I wonder though if it is right though to just chat with another person? God I know will let me find a person someday to be just there as a close female friend in the same situation.

My first thought is, why doesn't she talk? Is it physical? Is it mental? If you don't already know, I'd find out. Then there may be ways to get help in that regard.

As far as wanting a female friend in a similar situation, that's asking for trouble. The effects of a non-speaking spouse likely run deeper and affect your marriage in a variety of ways. And this will leave you wanting to find those areas fulfilled. Finding another woman that can do so will only attract you to her and away from your wife. How much you love her isn't the point. When your needs are not met in marriage, especially to that degree, the risk of wandering goes up quite a bit.

Lastly, and off topic, you'll find this site isn't receptive to Catholicism. The majority do not view it as a Christian denomination and quite a few have antagonistic views if it. So be aware.

Her psychologist is not sure. She had a relapse about 5 years ago and spent a week in a mental hospital. She has since just gotten really quiet and just wants to spend most of her day on couch. She does on occasions enjoy helping with daycare of our grandson. She loves to eat though I must repair most meals. She feels she doesn't know how to cook any more. Yet she knows all the recipes I use and tells me what to do if I have a question. As for another woman that is what I worry about myself. I pray continually though God has some plans for us to be able to enjoy live together again, talk , and enjoy getting out together again. On Catholics we are Christians who believe in Jesus as and do accept in to our lives as our Lord and Savior. We also believe we can pray to others who have journeyed on earth and made it to heaven called Saints. Plus most importantly Jesus is present every time in the celebration of the Mass which is to be a representation of Jesus life on earth especially the Last Supper. That is why we center the Mass around the Holy Eucharist . Sorry being a Born again Catholic is really exciting to me!!!!! One other thing on my wife the psychologist said with her mental illness right now it is hard to test for dementia. So we are both working on and praying 🙏 she stabilizes and opens up some. Thank you for bearing with me here I enjoy running my mouth if I get a chance. Plus if I down lap is it always free to chat. I deal in cash only and occasionally use my debit card in physical stores.

Lyrics Dost “Jesus care”.

Song

Caregivers needs TLC and replenishing, care giving take a toll, so catch a breather once in a while pop some popcorn and watch a good movie with a girlfriend, go on a shopping spree with your Aunt or cousin, there are times when you have to be your own caregiver. More importantly, Jesus offers rest to your soul, Come unto me all ye that are heavy laden… :)

i am married but not a caregiver to my spouse. i'm answering this because i was a volunteer caregiver for 37 years. as you care for your spouse, smile at her. this will bring joy to her & you. she'll believe in you more & feel more loved & secured. & when your done with every instance, keep smiling knowing that you lovingly cared for her. there's always a way to find enjoyment in things people do that people don't want to do. you say you're born again catholics. do you mean you both became born again but remained catholic?

She was born again as a Baptist and 20 years of marriage accept the Catholic faith. I was 8 years old when Confirmed in the Catholic church in third grade. Never heard of born again til moving from my birthplace to a new place in the deep south. A really great priest I new told me confirmed Catholics are born again as well once you truly in your conformation accept the values of believing Jesus as your Lord and Savior. I did do that when I was confirmed. Pray daily for Jesus to bless, prepare, and guide me everyday!! Catholics are overlooked as being born again. We do though have to live our life for Jesus. I have find out in attendance of Adoration for 1 hour from Jesus that a lot if Catholics just are like other Christians they either accept Jesus throughly or just not sure!!!

there's a situation here. born again as a Baptist & accepted the catholic faith? no sir, can't happen. now this may be tough but hopefully you'll see the truth. there's no such thing as born again but remaining a catholic. if that happened, you would hear from the Holy Spirit immediately telling you to get out of the catholic religion. there's a huge contrasting issue here, big differences. catholics say the hail mary prayer. God never gave mary the ability, power or authority to hear a prayer & grant an answer. they believe she's sinless. look at Romans 3:23- "for ALL have sinned & come short of the glory of God". Read John 14:6. catholics believe mary is an intercessor. impossible!!! read 1st Timothy 2:5, 1st Corinthians 10:31, Ephessians 1:22,23, Hebrews 1:1,2, 8:10, 9:15, 12:24, 7:25, Colossians 1:19 & 3:17. born again Christians have the Holy Spirit living inside them the instant they become born again. the H.S. tells you what's right & wrong. the truth of Romans 12:2 will be evident & active in a new Christians life- "and be not conformed to this world but be ye TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND....." Christians are convicted by the H.S. immediately when thinking, speaking & doing something wrong. catholics confess their sins to a priest. God never gave man the power to forgive sins, that only belongs to Jesus. blessings to you.

Sorry to tell Jesus told the disciples in John Chap 23 they can forgive sins or hold them bound. It is even in King James version. A minister or a Catholic priest is their but Jesus is present as well. He let's them know what to tell the repent sinner as His representative. Let us not argue though on church doctrine so we then can bring all Christians united together. Our enemy the devil is very strong we need to stand together not on different terms of believing!

Exactly. Caregivers need a lot of prayer as they experience a range of emotions.

you did not read the scriptures i told you. if you did, you would see that a priest can not forgive sins. we can't stand together when people are believing in what God said not to believe in. many differences between catholics & Christians. no, not arguing with you, my aim is amicable. thank you for your willingness to be peaceful.

Nice to meet you and thanks for sharing your experience. I would suggest you seek guidance from male figures in your church or counsellors. Treat your wife as the person she is, your wife. With prayer from you and friends, I'd be praying for restoration out of this state she's in. Standing on Mk 11:23-24, ask your desires and believe w/o doubting and you will receive them'. This is God's promise. God bless and I pray the Holy Spirit guide you through this🙏 and your wife is healed!

I recently attended an online summit of many experts in the area of dementia.
It was encouraging to hear the new discoveries and clinical successes.

I'm excited to say that I had a family member that I cured of a later stage dementia with the Lord's help. Rather, I followed simple principles and the Lord healed him fully. God was merciful in sparing his life and giving him a far longer productive normal life of good health.
There was a full recovery!

I won't use the "C" word for anyone outside my family. Nor do I practice medicine. I will say that the standard medical model of drug therapy has been disappointing from what I have seen working with seniors.

I will say a prayer now for you and your wife. You both need grace.
