Ephesians 4:15,17,22-24 KJV
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
[17] This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
[22] That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
[23] And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
[24] And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
That was written to the saved who walk with God by those good works; however,
They were reminded of Who saved them and the means in chapter 2 of that epistle.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Faith in putting off the old man to live holy as a requirement for salvation?

Not for salvation. Paul explained to a lost man in Acts 16...

"And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

I want to find people who share the hope of resurrection and who are purifying themselves instead of going along with the world.
You're going to fit right in here. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

Without a doubt my friend.
There are many promises the Lord has provided. One is in 1 John 5

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

..."And that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God."
🍵🙂📖
That is for anyone else who also decides to quit trusting in their own purity (good works) and instead place 100% of their faith in the Son of God.

“instead of going along with the world.”
Welcome.

If Jesus came to your house, to spend a day or two,

If He came unexpected, I wonder what you’d do.

Oh, I know you’d give your nicest room to such an honoured guest,

And all the food you’d serve to Him would be the very best.

And you would keep assuring Him you’re glad to have Him there,

That serving Him in your home is joy beyond compare.

But when you saw Him coming would you meet Him at the door

With arms outstretched in welcome to your heavenly visitor?

Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in,

Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they’d been?

Would you turn the television off and hope He hadn’t heard,

And wish you hadn’t uttered that last, loud, hasty word?

Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?

Could you let Jesus walk right in or would you rush about?

And I wonder if the Saviour spent a day or two with you,

Would you go on doing the things you always do?

Would you go on saying the things you always say?

Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?

Would your family conversation keep up its usual pace,

And would you find it hard each meal to say table grace?

Would you sing the songs you always sing and read the books you read

And let Him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?

Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you’d planned to go,

Or maybe would you change your plans for just a day or so?

Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends,

Or hope that they would stay away, until your visit ends?

Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on,

Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last had gone?

It might be interesting to know the things that you would do,

If Jesus came in person to spend some time with you.
Thank you for the poem! I actually think about that a lot and try to keep things acceptable in his sight. A while ago though, i had a powerful dream, long story, but there was written prayers, and much tears and seeking and other people praying for me. It was sort of like pushing hard through the crowds to get to him, like the blind guys crying out "Son of David!" I hesitate to say "Jesus" came to my house, but it was him or a messenger, an Angel, the Holy Spirit, i did see this being as a man, someone i never saw before 5'6", brown hair, but just for an instant because everything and everyone was in him. He could change form into my sister, or anyone he wanted. Its hard to explain. Basically , when Jesus came in, i was fearing some punishment and i fell back a bit when i opened the door, but to my relief, in walks this guy, he KNEW me, intimately, and loved me. He was utterly radiating power, and virtue, and he was a Lamb. A lamb of a man. ZERO malice, guile, lies, fear, hypocrasy, he joyfully and triumphantly loved me and was glad to save me. I cant even explain it, but, I fell down before him. Like Daniel, all my comeliness became garbage. We often compare ourselves to each other, but when compared with the Angel of the Lord, even the most righteous man falls down at his feet, no strength, weeping. The dream went on and other ghings i saw i wont say, but after that, i had this powerful joy , like i could love and die for my enemies and triumph over it all through him. I was a wretch, and humbled, but at the same time, FILLED with joy, because he loved me anyway. And when i was in his presence, i had no desire to sin. No desire for anything. No fear or worry, no lack, because He has everything. What can a person lack when they have Him who can do anything? What can a person fear when they have Him who has ALL power by their side?
So everyone here commenting is right, definately good to purify ones self, and be found living a holy and blameless life, and definately doesnt matter how good you are, we all fall short and we all fall down and worship the KING of the saints, the KING of all righteous and holy men and women! He is the sweetest man, the sweetest lamb of a gentle man, and he is God! The visible image of the invisible God. Halleluja!

Hello Richie,

Someone once asked me if I were to die today, if I was 100% sure if I would go to heaven? I thought that was an important question. What do you think?

I think we all have ups and downs and doubts and fears and we all have sin, and we are to "work out our own salvation with fear and trembling." But I can only speak for myself. When i have the confidence in his Grace, and that He came for a reason , to redeem me and He did just that, I am sure, and my cup runneth over with gratitude and tears of joy and praise. If I could retain that 24/7 and walk in that every minute then i could always be 100% sure. I have a human nature that i constantly have to put down though, I still see through the foggy mirror. So i hope.

We also must realize we cannot do it alone. It is by His grace.

Amen! My eyes tell me i am alone, but scripture tells me He is always there! And as a matter of fact, my entire existance and the existance of anything depends upon His faithful word that holds all together. A person cannot recieve a single thing except by God, and ALL power comes from God, to do anything! I am NOTHING and do not even exist without Him! Glory to God amen thank you!!

We can be surrounded by people and yet be alone. But as we follow our master, we hear his still small voice, saying, this is the way,
Isaiah 30:21 KJV
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Yes, even as Pilate said to Jesus…..

John 19:10-11 KJV
Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
[11] Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

I like what brother Paul said…
“I die daily”
It’s like, yes, you are saved, redeemed, cleansed by the blood of the crucified one.
But did you die to self this morning,
Are you walking in that life of repentance. “Not my will”
What a beautiful example in our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:31 KJV
I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
