Jesus' words from John 7:37-38 and John 4:14
:)
Of this I will only say that the Father is a Spirit (John 4:23-24) and there is one Spirit (Ephesians 4:4).

Therefore, the Father and the Holy Ghost are the same Spirit.

One, the preincarnate Christ; and the other, the same Spirit released into eternity at the death of Jesus.

I would encourage the reader to receive baptism in Jesus' Name even if you only have certain doubts about whether or not you are saved at times.

Receiving the ordinance will remove all doubt.

Blessing to a wacked out dude?
God gives rain to the just and the unjust. We are to love our enemies. Bless those that curse us. Pray for those who persecute us. I left out do good.
Love, bless, do good, and pray are the only 4 options. Who knows? If we actually start acting like Jesus God might do some incredible things.

Amen, that's what I try to do, anyway.

I think you have it backwards. We believe and then we do. Abraham believed God, then acted. He didn't act and then believe.
Salvation is a spiritual reality. We are changed inwardly and that is reflected outwardly.
Noah received grace. God told him of the coming judgment. The fact that he believed God is reflected in his building the ark.
So it is with us. We hear the gospel and believe God and respond in repentance and obedience.
Is this a response to post# 563?

Jhn 15:18, If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
Jhn 15:19, If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Jhn 15:20, Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Jhn 15:21, But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
Jhn 15:22, If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
Jhn 15:23, He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

Jhn 15:24, If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
Jhn 15:25, But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

Jhn 15:26, But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
Jhn 15:27, And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

1Jo 3:13, Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
1Jo 3:14, We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1Jo 3:15, Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Yes indeed.

There is one Spirit (Ephesians 4:4); the Father (John 4:23-24), the Son (John 4:24; Ephesians 3:17, Colossians 1:27, 1 John 5:12), and the Holy Ghost (John 7:39, 2 Timothy 1:14).

There is one Lord (Ephesians 4:5); the Father (Matthew 11:25, Luke 10:21, 2 Corinthians 6:17-18), the Son (1 Corinthians 8:6, 1 Corinthians 12:3), and the Holy Ghost (2 Corinthians 3:17).

There is one God (Ephesians 4:6); the Father (1 Corinthians 8:6, James 3:9 (kjv)), the Son (Hebrews 1:8-9; John 8:58, Exodus 3:14; John 8:59, John 10:31-33; John 8:24), and the Holy Ghost (Acts 5:3-4, Romans 8:26-27).

Understand Ephesians 4:4-6 and 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 in light of this information.

For I give it in obedience to the following command.

Tit 2:1, But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

et me guess. It only works when someone like you understands scripture differently then the intended meaning and only in your mind.
Yes, one must be a true believer with the Holy Ghost in order for the promise to apply.

I see you also have a case of the false accuser...saying I am irked if someone is saved. You know who else like to falsely accuse? Here is a hint. He tried to take God's place.
It appears that you are now falsely accusing me of being on the side of the false accuser.

All you had to say was that it doesn't irk you if someone is saved through baptism in Jesus' Name; and I would have taken your word for it.

But as it is, you are evading the question.

And it was a question, not a statement.

And therefore, not an accusation.

Works are things we do. Obeying commands are Works. And thus, unfortunately, you have a gospel of works. The only thing necessary on our part is faith.
Baptism in Jesus' Name is not a work but a point of contact for faith (like Paul's handkerchiefs).

I've told you a number of times. The previous verses are evidence of their faith. When they heard this...heard what? The gospel. Faith comes by hearing.
They heard and believed and so acted.. what shall we do? Repent and be baptized.
They believed, then responded. No different than Abraham. He believed God so he acted. No different than Noah. God told him of the impending judgment and he believed God and acted. And the same is true of anyone who gets saved. The word of God is made known, the individual believes God, and responds in repentance and obedience.
And I have told you a number of times, that if someone isn't saved, and then receives baptism in Jesus' Name, they will receive "remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost" (salvation).
I know what you have said. I just showed you the way to reconcile Ephesians 2 and Acts 2. You just refuse to accept it.
At any rate, I wish you the best. Grace and peace.
Just want to remind everyone of something that was spoken of earlier...

That in Acts 2:37-41, before they were actually baptized and after they repented, Peter told them to "be saved from this untoward generation".

Therefore, they were not saved before they were baptized; even if they did have faith and it was a believer's baptism.

Communion also is not a work. It is a sacrament.
Just like eating is not a work.

Also, taking a bath isn't a work.

Certainly, there is work involved in doing them (in eating I have to put my hand to my mouth);

But I do not consider eating to be a chore;

And also, when I want to be clean, I do not consider taking a bath to be a chore.

Also, even if you do consider taking a bath to be a chore, baptism is slightly different from taking a bath.

You do not apply soap or rub your body in being baptized.

In fact, the minister does all the work.

You just let him put you under and then pull you up.

"Water baptism is merely the picture of the reality."
What does this mean?

"Spirit baptism is the reality."
Spirit baptism by nature is metaphysical and cannot be used as a reference point in our reality. Water baptism is by nature physical and hence is used by the scriptures as the ordained moment in time for the forgiveness of sins.

Water baptism for the remission of sins is not a "picture" but simply a point of contact with the grace of God.

Water baptism for the remission of sins is a rather straight forward concept.
It seems you are the one obsessed with water baptism.
You don't understand what a picture is? A symbol is not the reality, but is a picture of the reality. The remission of sins is signified, but not procured in the waters of baptism. I'm not obsessed with water baptism at all. Baptism is a symbol of salvation in that it pictures Christ's death, burial and resurrection and our identification with Him in these experiences. In reality, believers are literally saved by what baptism symbolizes--Christ's death, burial and resurrection.

A man and a woman become united through their wedding vows and the ring symbolizes this. Just as we become united with Christ through faith and water baptism symbolizes this. Strictly speaking, the husband is united to his wife because of the marriage vows rather than the ring. Yet since the latter is the sign of their union, it is natural to speak of the ring to mean the reality it represents. "With this ring, I thee wed," although the ring is not the actual cause of the change in the marital status, just like water baptism is not the actual cause of our salvation status.

Baptism would have no meaning without Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, but Christ’s death, burial and resurrection would still have meaning, even if there were no baptism. In other words, Christ’s death, burial and resurrection is the substance and baptism is the sign/symbol/picture. Without the substance there would be no sign/symbol/picture.
