There's only one race--the human race. God made Adam and Eve with an olive-colored shade to their skin. As people began to multiply, they became either lighter or darker depending on migration and other factors. Skin tone is not a race; it is simply a variation within one human race. The same goes for the shape of the eyes.

Breaking people down into racial and ethnic groups creates division. Unity comes when we recognize that skin tone does not determine IQ or the capacity to learn. It just means people have different levels of melanin, which only determines skin and hair color.

The term "people groups" is much better. But don't label it based on skin color. Instead, base it on region and geography. For example, people in Miami are going to do things differently from people in Philadelphia. That's due to different types of weather, socioeconomic conditions, and political factors.

When you put it in those terms, it becomes more inclusive, and skin tone becomes irrelevant.

Let me know what you think.

How do you know this? Is their evidence that they had olive colored skin?

I agree that skin color should not be a consideration for anything. A persons character, education, and experience should be what we base our thoughts of them on.

Racism, prejudice has existed for a very long time. It was even present during Biblical times.

"Olive-colored" is a purely subjective description, as good as any other. Call it whatever you want your premise remains true.

Take a look here and see what you think:

I should probably describe it as "middle brown" because that would be more precise, according to the speaker here. And I think he makes a good scientific case for it here.

I agree. I probably could have used the term "middle brown." But check out the video above, and you'll see that Ken Ham makes an excellent point throughout.

I believe we should stop using the term "race," especially the way we are now. There's no scientific basis for dividing people by skin color.

I like the term ethnicity .:D

First thought upon reading the title:

There's only one race, and it is not given to the swift.

Reminds me of the time I was in the woods with a friend and a bear appeared in front of us. I shouted "RUN". He said "we can't outrun a bear..." I told him "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you..."

I don't think we can break it down just any way we want to regardless of how unhappy it makes us, Yahweh confused our languages and we divided into different ethnic groups. Shall we disagree with God and refuse to be divided and set out to mingle the peoples back together at Babel in revolt? https://biblehub.com/interlinear/genesis/11.htm

I do not believe YHWH confused the language to separate his people. The people were conspiring to glorify themselves instead of glorifying the one to whom all glory is due. As you correctly observed, "...we divided into different ethnic groups." He is not the source of our division, that is our sin and ours alone. When we join together to glorify and honor God we are actually fulfilling His will.

Matt 22:36-40

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

I think Genesis 11:1-9 pretty much sums up who is doing what.

I don't think he intended to divide us at all but to be one people unto Christ. If everyone would come to repentance, turn from their sins, and put their trust in Jesus, skin tone would be as irrelevant as what flavor chapstick you wear.

Great point, and it agrees with my previous response.

"Race" is a construct that results from evolutionary theory. Before Darwin, division was mostly based on culture, religion, standing in society and nationality.

Yes ethnicity, Race was never the issue it was always ethnics. In the modern days society has blended word meanings i.e. cool=good,,gay=homosexual, rainbow=lbgtq ect. in the same their is race and ethnics they are two different things but society is using them as synonyms when they are not.
