This thread has been a fun read and has me thinking...
I've known some people who can't picture their lives without eating meat.
I have to admit that although I could probably live as a vegetarian if I had to, pepperoni is one of my favorite pizza toppings.
Since I assume we will no longer kill or eat animals in heaven, I wonder if there will be trees or plants that bear fruits and vegetables designed to taste like the meat so many people have enjoyed while on this earth?
Just imagine... a real-live pepperoni, hamburger, or fried chicken tree!
Becky's initial observation, about there being no death nor pain in heaven, got me thinking too. Right off, the jewish observance of "humane" slaughter came to mind. They must kill the animals swiftly so that there is no, or at least where there is the most minimal, suffering. And then I thought of God directing peter to "kill and eat," and I noticed the difference in the original language that distinguishes that from murder, or "homicide" which is relevant only to humans. And then I began to wonder about the old debate, do animals have souls... but I'm not sure I really want to know that answer... I mean, I'm not sure I'm ready to know that...
There is a verse in scripture that ponders whether the spirit of an animal goes up or down but, is it ever a "living soul" like Adam?
Maybe they are only another form of the fruit of the earth, just extremely animated?
God only ever endorsed a vegan diet when Adam and Eve were in a perfect world. After they broke the world with sin, God sent them away from Eden and modified their menu to include animals.
In an imperfect world carnivores are a thing. In a perfect world apparently it is not necessary.
Maybe all these animals eat meat because they have to. In a perfect world maybe all their dietary needs were supplied with veggies.
Maybe animals also wish they were back in Eden, where they didn't have to hunt and be hunted.
New theory: Maybe dogs and cats volunteered to look after us to keep us from breaking anything else.

I under stand, we had every one make there own, pizza, so if you had 5 people you would have 5 different pizzas. and every one would try each others pizzas. fun and mmmmmmmmm God bless America

all good things you enjoy now will be in heaven however we may no longer find them as enjoyable because of the great joy we will have in the presence of God, that joy covers all else
Here's a little known scripture about false teachers and abstaining from eating meat:

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

The animals in Heaven are not going to be eating eachother so I don't believe we will be eating meat either. Plants do not have pain receptors so they are different. Eating meat was not God's original intention.
There's also this from Gen 9:1-3
1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.
2 The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.
3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
