Is Jesus God?
Yes or no?

Is God or has God or will God ever be completely dead?

Pantheism, Modalism, and all the other crappy "isms" do not apply to God.

And if I said that I had a frog in my throat.....who really thinks I'm choking on an amphibian?

Jesus was speaking in metaphoric poetry...said He was speaking in a metaphoric manner....and did speak in metaphoric ways often. What's the problem?

Whenever the three days and three nights of Matthew 12:40 is brought up in a "discussion" with 6th day crucifixion folks, they frequently argue that it is a Jewish idiom for counting any part of a day as a whole day. I wonder if anyone has documentation that shows that the phrase "x" days and "x"nights was ever used in the first century or before when it didn’t include at least parts of the "x" days and at least parts of the "x" nights?
In the book of Genesis, it is stated that a day is comprised of evening and morning, a 24-hour cycle.

Do you have examples which show that it was common to forecast or say that a daytime or a night time would be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could be?

Are you a believer in a 6th day of the week crucifixion/1st day of the week resurrection?
As soon as you answer my questions.

Is Jesus God?

Has God ever been dead?

Do I have an amphibian in my throat?

That's funny!

I'm still trying to figure out why rstrats is grinding the axe he is over words...especially considering the prohibitions against such things.

It doesn't seem to be important to me at all....Good Friday isn't Good Friday?

I'm thinking he is just trying to be divisive.

A preponderance of textual evidence indicates that Christ wasn't deceased
for a full three days and a full three nights, i.e. 72 hours. Instead his
crucified dead body was restored to life during the third day rather than
after the third was completely over and done with.

Matt 17:22-23 . . Jesus said unto them: The Son of man shall be betrayed
into the hands of men: and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be
raised again.

Matt 20:18-19 . . Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall
be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall
condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to
scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

Mark 9:31 . . He taught his disciples, and said unto them: The Son of man
is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he
is killed, he shall rise the third day.

Luke 9:22 . .The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by
the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and
on the third day be raised to life.

Luke 18:33 . . He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him,
insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise
again.

Luke 24:5-8 . . In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to
the ground, but the men said to them: Why do you look for the living among
the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he
was still with you in Galilee: "The Son of Man must be delivered into the
hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again."

Luke 24:21-23 . .We trusted that it had been he which should have
redeemed Israel: and beside all this, today is the third day since these
things were done. Yea, and certain women also of our company made us
astonished, which were early at the sepulcher; and when they found not his
body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which
said that he was alive.

Luke 24:46 . . He said unto them: Thus it is written, and thus it behooved
Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day

John 2:19 . . Jesus answered and said to them: Destroy this temple, and
in three days I will raise it up.

Acts 10:40 . . God raised him up the third day

1Cor 15:4 . . he rose again the third day

NOTE: There is some controversy regarding Matt 27:63 and Mark 8:31 due
to the word "after".

To begin with, those verses are outnumbered 11 to 2.

Plus; the Greek word translated "after" is somewhat ambiguous. It can
indicate moments following the conclusion of an event, but it can also
indicate moments within an event. I suggest letting the 11 to 2 majority
decide how best to interpret the intent of Matt 27:63 and Mark 8:31.

If you need a whole thread to answer some simple "yes or no" questions....
I'm rolling my eyes here cause this doesn't bode well.

I answered your off-topic questions in the yet to be approved topic. So now, how about answering my question because if you are not a 6th day of the week crucifixion advocate, then this topic does not apply to you.

I don't see the answers....And because my even bothering to answer you is highly dependent upon your answers. I'm just waiting.

The daytime is the time occupied by the light of the sun beginning at sunrise, ending at sundown. The night is the time occupi9ed by the dark with the stars and the moon affording some light. Three days and three nights would account for the time prophesied of our Savior's time from the Cross, death, to His Resurrection to eternal glory and life for Him first of all and followed all who believe Him.

Why do you need those questions answered in order to know whether or not you believe that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week?

Since it appears that you are not a believer in a 6th day of the week crucifixion, you probably have no reason to know of examples which is the issue of this topic.

Because it's either going to be a platform for you to espouse some sort of twisted notion of God or not. This is the internet....all sorts of nuts and fruits can be found. Especially on Christian websites.

Having been alerted to a post within the thread, I responded accordingly.
As for the actual day of our Savior's Crucifixion, I am not so astute as to claim true knowledge of it.

I do believe our Lord, Yeshua Jesus, was crucified,, died, and was placed in a rich man's tombe. He was in the tomb three days and on that third day (ornight) He became the firstborn of the dead, the Resurrection itself.

According to Isaiah, whom I believe by faith, the Child born to Mary was to have such titles as Eternal Father, Ruler of Peace, God Almighty, Counselor, Comforter, and much more, and it is wonderful knowing that our Maker is One.

Forgive my not responding directly to your thread's original post, but I was responding to someone who seems to believe that our salvation is pivotal upon knowing about how days are counted. God bless you always..

It's the "or not" one. This topic is directed to those who believe that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week, and think that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb and try to explain the lack of a 3rd night time by saying that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language of the period. I'm merely curious what examples they have in order to legitimately say that it was common usage. For the purpose of this topic, it's nothing more than that.

Normal days in the Bible are defined as when the sun is up, and normal
nights are defined as when the sun is down. (Gen 1:5 & Gen 1:14-18)

Now this is interesting because the preponderance of textual evidence
indicates Jesus' crucified dead body was restored to life during the third day
which at first glance appears to be incorrect because certain women went
out to the cemetery before the sun was up that day and he was gone. In
other words; Jesus came back during night instead of during day: but did
he?

Holy days begin and end at sunset; whereas back then civil days began at
06:00 in the morning and ended at 06:00 in the evening, which yielded a
twelve-hour day whether the sun was up or not. (John 11:9-10)

Sometimes their civil days began before the sun was up. For example: the
sun came up in Jerusalem April 5, 2023 at 06:23 am, which was 23 minutes
after the beginning of an ancient civil day.

So; had Jesus done his thing and the women theirs sometime in those 23
minutes before sunrise, then he and they would've been within the limits of
a new day rather than the tail end of a previous night.

Ergo: in order for our chronology to come out right per Matt 12:40, we can't
use holy days and nights, nor can we use normal days and nights. No, we
have to use civil days and nights.

NOTE: Were I the Devil, I would make it my personal mission in life to
invalidate Christ's resurrection because it's the keystone of the Christian
arch. Remove the keystone, and the structure will collapse. Well; the most
effective way I can think of to invalidate Christ's resurrection is via the Good
Friday model because even a small child, counting on its fingers, can easily
deduce that it's impossible to obtain three days and three nights between
Friday afternoon and Sunday morning. And then when the women are thrown
into the mix, Good Friday doesn't even have Sunday to work with.

That would be an issue for a different topic. Perhaps you might start one.
