Pop corn tins!

AND they take credit cards.

True story:
I was going into the store one day and was bombarded by the boy scouts, or rather their pushy moms. (the dads were standing WAY back) the moms smiled and let the boys do their sales pitch and when I politely declined the pushy moms started in on all the good things the funds go to. I smiled back firmly stating I had just enough for the milk and bread I came for. The reply: she pulled out her phone with an attachment saying "We take credit cards!"
Don't get me started on pushy moms...

Too late!

One woman at my job was selling those "World's Finest Chocolate Bars" for her child. I, not liking the flavor, declined to buy one. She argued a few times that I should buy one, while I kept declining to do so.

Finally she muttered, "Fine. I guess my child isn't important enough to support." Uh... Why is it MY responsibility to support YOUR child getting some kind of school sports equipment or going on some trip? You offer chocolate, I don't want to buy chocolate, end of story. I have no obligation to support your kid.

I understand her frustration but good grief.

If I encounter a mom that pushy, I'm going to ask her why doesn't she just buy the chocolate herself if it's that much of a life and death situation.

And if she says she doesn't have the money to buy it, why should she be allowed to think that anyone else does?

Yet another reason why I do believe in charity, but I hate fundraisers.

When my kids were required to fund raise for something they were involved in, I didn't make them go out and do it. Since I don't like all the children having to fund raise myself, I didn't want to add to it, so I just wrote a check for the amount they were supposed to bring in.

I always told myself this is what I would do if I ever had kids as well.

And if we couldn't afford it, I'd have to have a long talk with my kids about which activities would fit in our budget -- including the fundraisers -- and which ones might have to be let go.

What are we doing to deserve a whipping?
This is not a trivial question. It needs to be something mild enough to earn a mild whipping. The more severe the crime, the more severe the whipping, and the better the cookies have to be.
I can see how this is going to be the next level discussion of the thread.

Which Cookies Are Worth:

1. A Mild Whipping ("Oooh, that tickled!")

2. A Medium Whipping ("Was that a strong breeze?!")

3. A Bad Whipping ("Left me seeing a ring of birds flying round and round.")

4. A Colossal Whipping ("Granny should have tried out for a professional baseball team.")

I only remember one spanking from my Grandma. I don't remember any cookies involved, just a "Go break a switch off the weeping willow and bring it here!!"
May I ask, do you remember what you did?

Sorry, HH, I'm just asking because you're always tirelessly working to help others here, I can't see you doing something that would warrant a "GO CHOOSE A SWITCH, AND MAKE IT A GOOD ONE, SONNY!" from Grandma!:p

Well, I figure it this way...

1. I decide to "help out" by "taste testing" one of those luscious whoopie pies. And that, of course, means I have to "borrow" one.

2. You tweet like a canary and tell Grandma what I did, when I only had the best of intentions. Such a bummer.

3. Grammie gives me a good whoopie pie whupping... (and I just happen to wear padded jeans that day.)

4. Grammie gives me a second pie afterwards for comfort.

5. On my way out, I swipe at least one other pie as compensation as I scoot out of the kitchen.

*Seoulsearch weighs her odds...* :geek:

Ok Jake, you're on! :devilish:
Or....just hear me out...or

1: I grab a whoopie pie run to you and say "gram said you could eat this"

2: while you are stuffing your cheeks, I run down and tell gram on you " gram...soulsearch...whoopie pie...go " . I'm out of breath because I have a plan and need to look ligit lol

3: gram sees you and spanks you.

4: mean while I grab the batch and hide them for myself later.

5: when gram comes back I tell her you must have eaten them all.

And that's how I'll get fat and full with no spanking 🤯🤯🤯.

Game on

It probably involved yelling at my big sister at 5-6 or talking back to Grandma. I was not taking Mom's divorce very well.
But before that, I remember stealing a bottle plug from Hills and breaking the window of the back door. My sister teased me and I chased her around the house. She went inside, locked the storm door and stood on the other side making faces.
I shouldn't admit my crimes online. I don't know what the statute of limitations is in my state.

BTW, my favorite cookies were the ones a Greek lady made, who was a friend of the family. It was Baklava.....not to be confused with Balaklava.

Now look here, Mister.

I'm not sure what has me more in a tizzy -- the fact that YOU'RE going to be eating ALL the whoopie pies, and I'll be lucky to get just one (you'll probably be chintzy and only give me a barely broken-off crumb...)

Or the fact that you'd stoop low enough to snitch on me to my own grandmother -- twice.

Yeah.

As clever as your little plan sounds, I'm thinking:

You know how the singer Weird Al Yankovic had a song called "My Bologna" that was a parody off the original song "My Sherona"?

Well as soon as I saw the title of your video, I couldn't help but think of someone ELSE singing a parody of Weird Al's "My Bologna" but calling it "My Baklava" instead. :p

1692058264713.jpeg

I know this isn't really Weird Al Yankovic -- it's actually Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) playing Weird Al in a recent movie that was a parody of Al's life.

It just seemed like a parody of Al was pretty fitting for a post suggesting a parody of one of Weird Al's parodies. :D

One thing's for sure -- we know who the Forum Troublemaker is.

What kind of fiend would turn someone's own Grandma against her -- AND provide Grandma with extra ammunition?!

Oh Wow!
That is wild that you thought of that and I accidentally came across the only short baklava video that I could find. It just happened to be a parody.

I had no idea that there was a weird al movie! I will have to see that.
Before I got on here, I was trying to find Donny Osmond's email to share the gospel with him.
Guess what brought him to mind?

You said if I'm in the fridge I'm in the wrong room...

Oh yeah?!

What if I have a fridge in every room??

Don't judge! 🤨
