This law was from GOD. He was showing compassion, something the church needs to learn.
compassion? You are just talking about sex. And force teens to masturbate. What next from you? Transgender is real?

If you believe masturbating is a sin, because the person it THINKING about sex, then think about chocolate cake. So there, it's no longer a sin.
This has nothing to do with the topic, yet you are incapable of understanding that self-gratification is the effects of something, not the cause.

  • addition to porn
  • lack of self-control
  • addicted to the sexual act
Yet what a person does as a married person is nobody's business. If what they do is sin, that is the bedroom God will deal with it. We need not try to enter. Many of these run by night sex wannabe "counselors" are just perverted, and child molesters.

Was the rich young ruler a normative situation? Is there anything inherently Holy about poverty? Nope. Money is not the source of all evil but the love of money is evil. Perhaps no one desires money more than those who lack it. If otherwise how you you classify Joseph of Aramethiea and the rich ladies who supported Jesus’ ministry? The surrendered life is one predicated on ,built on love and worship. So what is behind your motivation for service? Obligation? Duty? Are you trying to repay an already forgiven sin debt rather than simply rest in His love for you? is your service the outflow of Love and worship towards the Father and Jesus . God loves the joyful giver not one who begrudgingly gives or gives from grit teeth. Gods after your heart man. He loves you intimately and he wants you to first and foremost love him back before serving.
I would gladly rather be a street sweeper in heaven than the wealthiest and most powerful person in hell. I'd make that choice over and over again and twice on Sundays giggling and laughing at the outcome of my good fortune.

YMMV

The cross is an execution device that had the specific function of humiliating those who were executed.

One has to be discipled first before you can take up your cross effectively. Jesus is after the heart motives behind behavioral sin not the behavior itself . You seem to be expecting things from non discipled Christians that don’t happen till one gets discipled. Jesus’ call to the young in faith is simply

““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus even when he called the disciples simply said “follow me” that was not predicated on them having to clean themselves up or “stop sinning “ before they followed him. Jesus then took them immediately into immersed apprenticeship with Him it was their daily life reality. The disciples were living with Jesus 24/7 for 3 years of direct discipleship. The behavioral sins stop , when one is so discipled that in your heart it would be foolish to continue behavioral sin and then begins the work in the heart that Jesus is really after. Most modern Christians are leaning into God 1hour a week on Sunday mornings without much thought of Jesus at all Mon-Sat. It’s all most modern Christians have known sadly because it’s all anyone offers to them. If the mass of Christians were invited into true daily discipleship , not church service but true real life daily apprenticeship to the ways of Jesus in their lives it wouldn’t be long before the behavioral sins would stop and the hearts would transform to no longer desire the sin.

Christians have largely lost what discipleship truly was is it any wonder we keep on with behavioral sin when the hearts of so many aren’t being transformed? When a believers heart truly experiences the Love of God and it begins to penetrate into their heart and soul past the bone and marrow that is when you see transformed lives. But they need to see that Love of Christ penetrate their hearts and that can’t be done by a 1hour a week church service or dutiful, obligatory servant hood to a church organization.

No...wrong.
It's not that mature Christians do not know how to disciple others....although I've found many who claim to know yet fail utterly.
It's that MOST people do NOT want to be discipled.
The few I have discipled have had great success over their lives...they have discovered a relationship with God they never knew existed.

And as far as putting away their sins....it's a MUST. Not a "sort of stop" or a "kinda stop" it's an absolute requirement. Planned and deliberate sinning must stop. It's not like Peter or the others went chasing women, gambling, or getting drunk while following Jesus. They knew the price in behavior and did what was required.

And obviously their attempts of discipleship are failing by your own admonition. Perhaps what is being offered in “discipleship” in Church buildings isn’t the things that Jesus was training in discipleship. I think there is something in lack there. These Dutiful service and the servant leader thing and pressure to conform create a very Martha, Martha environment . I’ve never seen a church publicly offer classes to the body in the spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting, silence , solitude. How many churches offer true fellowship and people willing to speak into the daily lives of their congregation. Willing to blend the sacred /secular divide into one whole cohesive life. So many separate their faith or church time from daily life today sadly.

Look at the OP in this thread. Despite EVERYONE telling him his concepts are wrong and not Godly and in direct opposition to scriptures he persists that he is correct and has yet to successfully use scriptures to prove his musings and perverted desires correct.

He flat out is looking to license his perversions and for others to follow him in his perversions despite those who are very knowledgeable in scriptures telling him otherwise.

Bad company corrupts good morals and he is wanting to corrupt many. He is a goat and not a sheep following the Shepherd. Common enough these days as one of many people who are doing the same. Many of the LGBTQ come in here and do the exact same thing. He is no different than they are. Then there are those that promote killing and violence and want to license that sort of thing as being Godly.

There's a huge difference between humbly seeking knowledge and wisdom and those who just want to corrupt and license sin. Huge difference in behavior and what they say. Itching ears want to get scratched. So where the concepts of moral turpitude and avarice may be lost to you...I highly recommend that you learn what they are.

You’re diverting from our conversation. It’s good to abstain from behavioral sin. But God is after something deeper than behavioral. Stopping the visible sin dosent change the heart. Behavioral matters is absolutely exclusively what the Pharisees were focused on at the expense of their hearts. They had washed the outside of their cup(behavioral) but inside the cup (their hearts) were still dirty and this is why Jesus called them hypocrites. The Christian life is one lived from internal changing the external. Not the other way around.

Then why did the Christcouncil at Jerusalem send a letter to the Gentile Christians to stay out of the strip clubs, whore houses and fight clubs in essence as we would refer to them today?

Now we can have the discussion about gnosticism.

One of the chief tenants of gnostic teachings was that you could do whatever you wanted as long as your heart belonged to Jesus....you could literally commit ANY sin but still be considered a "believer". Sleep with prostitutes, wager on the blood sports and eat meat/drink blood from them, whatever you wanted so long as your "spirit" was aligned with Jesus.

Obviously these gnostic exhibited NO FAITH whatsoever.

Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as Righteousness. Faith isn't just lip service but actually living a life and lifestyle in keeping with Jesus's desires. Which is no different than anything I've said here. Jesus is God...literally in every manner possible. Moses and the prophets wrote the Old Testament(which explains the New Testament) by inspiration of the Holy Spirit...which is God...and Jesus is God.

So are you promoting gnosticism?

I’m not promoting Gnosticism. What I’m promoting is a full gospel perspective and actual training in the ways of righteousness as redeemed saints and how we get there with our hearts becoming transformed . Good people don’t go to heaven, forgiven people do. There are steps to our faith, you take one step of obedience, your heart begins to see Jesus’ love for you, then you take another step and on you go maturing till you get to the meat . a gospel reduced to “sin management “ as the goal is a very low bar considering the redeemed life available to us today. Jesus is offering life and life to the full. Sin while a troublesome thing has been paid in full- past present and future sins of the believer and when a believer fully understands that in their new hearts they begin an internal transformation that will no longer desire the sin to begin with when brought to maturity. Our hearts are now good per new covenant theology And we need to train our new hearts for the kingdom. As Jesus said -

“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭45‬ ‭NIV‬‬

A good and healthy heart resting in the arms of Jesus isn’t going to want to chase after behavioral sin as a byproduct of that deep relationship with Him because that new heart knows there is no life in that sin but life only comes through abiding in Jesus’ . If one continues in habitual sin then that is evidence of an unchanged heart that isn’t resting in Jesus. The heart has to change for morality to have any lasting spiritual benefit.

Well then
by your own admission and testimony the OP isn't repenting of habitual sin but instead is promoting it as something "good". His god (in truth) is his own body/stomach and appetites and vigorously defending them. Where is the righteousness in that? There's no faith building, no sacrifice, a definite lack of any sort of relationship, and no worship whatsoever....just a licensing of habitual sin.

Which is why he came to this website....because no normal organized church would allow him a platform to spew his excrement.

Can a Contract Killer, an assassin for hire, truly be a Christian if he refuses to give up his profession?

Is there such a thing as "Wife swappers for Jesus"?

I’m not after the OP. Yea he’s got heart issues as well, we all do. What I’m after is yours. You might pop the hood and take a look. I’m feeling a lot of self-righteousness and spiritual pride coming out of your posts. And I’m saying that with genuine love and concern for you.💕

Once the murderer or wife swapper experiences Jesus’ love for them and they hear the Call of Jesus romancing their hearts they like the disciples will drop their nets and abandon their life of sin with joy, falling into Jesus’ arms. Can you sit next to a former murderer or wife swapper in church service and not harbor anger towards them because what they did in their former life?

Those, were literally and actually the type of people who were my Best Friends, before Christ.

It's the Gossipers and the just plain stupid I would like to be excused from sitting with.

I really struggle with loving the outwardly religious, the ones who turn the gospel into a system to rules, tip and technique to make the faith something like a rule book to follow rather than being transformed. void of the spirit. I can have great conversations with the guy who was a former drug addict, murderer or adulterous person who come forward kneeling at the alter praying for God to be changed internally. I love that. I really do. I think it’s so beautiful to see happen where former mobsters, or tough skinned emotionless Biker dudes burst into tears for their savior. Good stuff. That is God changing hearts live.
