Hey Everyone,

Let's go on a secret mission!

I'll take a break soon so people can catch up with other threads, but I had to post this one while the idea was still fresh! :) Jacob graciously gave his permission to allow me to use his stories as a target, er, I mean, topic, so here we go!

In a previous thread about grandma's and cookies, Jacob said he would tell MY Grandma that I was being bad if I tried to "borrow/taste test/swipe" HIS Grandma's homemade hand pies. :( I can't imagine someone threatening to tattle on them to their OWN GRANDMA, but that wasn't going to stop me from trying to swipe a pile of those pies.

In Mingle Thread #3, we talked about things we WOULDN'T share, and something we WOULD.

Jacob said:

2)I'm sorry but, (I'm not sharing) grams baked goods. I ain't coffing them goods up unless.... 3) if you can bake really good....I'd trade grams baked goods so you could learn and bake me more haha 😋I like my sweets lol
Imagine my immense disappointment. :( However, I saw a glimmer of hope when Jacob followed up with:

Seoul I'd make an exception for you...... But you'd have to present your favorite dish that isn't spicy, seafood,or meatloaf.
I have a confession to make. I'm not very good at cooking or baking. I've tried over the years, but somehow I seem to get everything wrong. Therefore, if I'm going to have a chance at swindling/trading my way into getting some of those delicious homemade backed goods, I need YOUR help/some assistance from the CC audience!

In Mingle Thread #1, Jacob kindly shared some of his interests:

4)some of the things I like are: Fishing, singing, working, walks, nature, animals, being at church, laughing, hugs, sweets lol, most meats. Soft serve ice cream. 5) if we went to coffee I would order: Hot regular or ice French vanilla extra extra for them hot days

Judging from this list, what sorts of things do you think I can bribe, er, convince Jacob with in order to hand over his Grandmother's goodies?

I'm putting up a poll of suggestions made from this list that people can vote for (multiple votes will be allowed, and we'll be able to see what everyone voted for!)

But be sure to tell us what your own ideas would be, or what you would offer him if it were you.

I'm obviously going to need all the help I can get! o_O

I can make chocolate oatmeal (no-bake) cookies JUST like my grandma's. In fact when I made some and she tasted them, she said "They're just as good as mine" and she sounded a bit disappointed, like she had lost her throne or something.

I can make pretty good chocolate chip cookies too.

And cornbread. And fried taters. And a few other good ole southern cooking things.

Any of that help?

I'm curious to hear what people have to offer to help. It's going to be a hard bargain though. Grams baked goods are like unicorns.... Majestic. You can't just glue a rod on a horse and call it a unicorn 😂

I may have a spare unicorn or two you could, um, borrow, to help you wrangle some of Jacob's goodies...

Oh no, this is going to be harder than I thought!

This is urgent!

I have a feeling that Jacob will accept nothing less than a king's random.

So it's looks like we've already collected:

1. Homemade chocolate chip cookies that rival Lynx's Grandma's,
2. Fried taters,
3. Cornbread, and,
4. 1-2 spare unicorns.

Excellent.

We'll see what everyone has to offer/suggest. :D

Um I thought this was a biblical thread and Jacob was really after some venison stew (or mess of pottage) that you hunted and killed yourself.
If cant handle meat then red refried bean nachos?

Or good old fashioned Georgie Pie, most popular one is mince and cheese.

Except Georgie Pie doesnt exist anymore. However nz bakeries have large selection of meat pies, of which my favourite would be potato top.
In my experience men tend to like steak and mushroom, or bacon and egg.

I have never ever eaten meatloaf, though sausage rolls are the staple food for bribery at morning tea time in nz workplace gatherings all over the country, with tomato sauce. Or asparagus rolls.

No fruit mince pies but mini real beef mince pies called savouries, and you just can eat them in two bites.

I had never heard about maple bacon cupcakes before this, and I am a huge fan of cupcakes.

Are these just standard cupcakes, and the bacon simply goes on top of them, or is there some sort of filling inside of the cupcake as well?

Bacon is one of my top two foods to eat, so this genuinely intrigues me.

I have been to many cupcake shops over the years, and I have never seen these before.

I make maple flavored cupcakes, maple buttercream and then I fry bacon and while its still hot i toss it in brown sugar, then let it cool. Its not filled with anything , but they're really good. Kinda a play on the taste of pancakes and bacon. I started making them at home before the maple bacon fad started lol.

I think that I might be in love.

I mean, with your cupcakes.

Wait, that didn't sound right either.

Maybe I should just mosey along...

Maybe we can just have a CC singles sweets swap and invite Jake's grandma to come. Everyone gets sweets and we don't need to bribe Jake with anything specific because we've cut out the middle man. Besides if his grandma is going to bake enough pies for the swap he'll probably get to help eat the rejects that aren't pretty enough for the swap so it's a win win.

Barring that I was gonna suggest teaming up with Pipp and her maple bacon cupcakes or other baked goods.
