Hello folks. I have enjoyed this site since 2018, but will be taking a hiatus from here starting 1/1/2024 as this site has become politically toxic since 2021, especially from far right folks on here, and the election cycle will ramp up in 2024. Just going to say this, our current president hasn't done much, but Trump was toxic and had some unchristian ideals. I will not debate anything here, as debates lead nowhere. I may return in 2025, but hanging out with real friends in 3D is much better than hanging out on a forum. Touching grass is better than touching a keyboard. :) God bless, and take care. Sayonara Trumpers.

For reference, I'll still be on here until 12/31 of this year.

For being a member since 2018 you have written relatively few posts. Actually, I like hanging out in these forums but that's just me I suppose. Enjoy your real friends.

Yeah, I hang out here more, as I don't want to post anything and then have political folks start up a debate. It seems that every topic could easily turn into a debate here. Haha...

SanderB, Not everyone is going to agree that is just the way it is. There are a lot of cults out there because they do not believe the truth of the Bible. We also learn from one another about scripture, but the Holy Spirit is our teacher. The truth is in Gods word. It is your choice if you stay or go.

Agreed. The truth is in God's Word, but people twist the Bible a lot, such as cults as you say. So, it is best for me to avoid the cult of Trump or the cult of Joe here. Our country has two cults, the far left and the far right. Nobody is in the middle as much anymore.

Cool, classic rock/pop and musical music is always good. Wait what, this song came out in 2023? Sounds like something from the 1960s. :) But yeah, I am tired of people debating when our world will end, or if the rapture occurs before Armageddon or after. The Bible says don't worry, and we will never know the exact time Jesus returns. So, yeah, it is best for me to leave before 2024, and I might pop in occasionally during 2025, maybe monthly. Maybe never. There is a whole wide world out there, more than this fear mongering echo chamber of a chatroom.

God bless, Magenta. At least you were not one of the Trumpies, or at least you kept that undisclosed. Politics belongs with friends or on the debate stage, not on a Christian forum IMHO.

Some time back while attending university, I was prompted to take test to determine my position on the political compass. I wish I could recall those that I landed fairly near to, but my memory is obscured by having noted all those exampled on the map, from Margaret Thatcher to Mahatma Ghandhi.

Anyway, there were four featured vectors: Authoritarian Left; Authoritarian Right; Libertarian Left; and Libertarian Right. I mapped nearly at the cross-section on this side of Authoritarian Right, with the possibility that one slight difference in answer placing me on that side of the Libertarian Right vector. But I was nevertheless relieved to see that I mapped nearer to Margaret Thatcher than I did to Adolf Hitler in the vector the test landed me in.

On the other side, the Authoritarian Left, is listed Stalin and Lenin, Jong Il, and Castro. But I didn't really recognize anyone listed in the Libertarian Left vector's reading list except maybe Cornell West look sort of familiar, who wrote "Race Matters." And listed among the reading list of the Libertarian Right is Milton Friedman (I think he was mapped fairly close to location on the other side of the demarcation), along with Michael Cain, Ayn Rand and Ron Paul.

So, you can see the broad spectrum within the political spectrum which will prove to be difficult to circumvent without becoming a hermit.

At any rate, it helped a little to be able to determine my closest 'peers' in political thought.

Is this just because your guy lost the vote, got his minions to fraudulently put him into office, all-but-destroyed the world economy (not to mention the US), enabled the greatest scam and Nuremberg code violation of all time, got us 3/4 of the way to World War 3 ('member he's still got one year to go), and now his chickens are coming home to roost and the truth is that not only were the Biden supporters so wrong about everything that they should never be trusted to vote ever again, they're realising that their chosen one is quite likely a child abuser also?

Just seems an odd time to leave due to political toxicity, given you've hung around since 2020 when the toxicity was at its worst...

"Our country has two cults, the far left and the far right."

Agree, and I share your frustrations. I avoid the openly political posts like the plague. The labels "Left" and "Right" are deliberately used to conceal the true nature of the battle, good and evil. Surprise folks, neither side has a clue, they are both deceived. This is also true of the so-called "Middle" which just adopts pieces of untruth from the extremes.

There is a really important message in the Bible that gets frequently overlooked. This idea it appears throughout, from beginning to end. The message is "remnant." Sometimes that is all that keeps me feeling sane. It keeps me focused.

Prosper in your time away and if possible returned refreshed. There are believers here who need and value your experiences and perspectives.

I disagree with that. The left has gotten so extreme that traditional Americans appear far right to them.
Agree, and there seems to be ample statistical data for this.

Every time I politely mention traditional christian values, angry people appear, from somewhere, with a slurry of choice expletives for me.
It's delightful.
I'm not specifically talking about CC, but this is just how all conversations now seem to devolve.

JUST PONDERING THE MAYHEM:
- Seriously, can anyone RATIONALLY explain why a biological male, a towering man of 6'4", was competing as a female swimmer?
- Can anyone explain why people were defending it, when it's the literal definition of irrational, and the literal definition of unscientific?
- There is no rational explanation for the irrational.
- These recent cultural divides have been founded upon such utter lunacy, that many people speculate there is no "genuine" ideology undergirding them at all, but rather, it's all being pushed into the leftist culture merely to make the conservatives scream and remain distracted from more serious issues. It's all just a distraction. That's what many believe.

They may be right.

SanderB, whatever you need to do, be well. And God Bless.

not trying to be a smart aleck, but this is a discussion site, so whatever you say, it is basically going to be agreed or disagreed with, and most likely debate will ensue.

but, i totally get why you want a break, and if you take one, hope you find it refreshing!!

When the mayor of NYC is bleating and wailing about the present admin......you know the country is near to a derailment. What's going on in America is truly chringeworthy. Canada too.

There ain't much of a middle anymore bro. They are all pretty well fruits and nuts at this point. With a very heavy doping of greed and lust for power.

Awesome. It seems that some other folks already brought politics into this simple farewell thread. Thanks for not being the full outspoken Trumpie. :) And yeah, no 6'4" guy swimmer should partake in a women's swim match. Just like no dictator should run for office.

Politics was front and center in the OP...
Yeah, I know my original post contains politics, but that is why I will be leaving this site for a while, cos politics shouldn't even be a thing here

Certainly not because of anything you've said :D
