People make these claims frequently when their viewpoint doesn't agree with what the Lord says in His Word.

I simply posted a bunch of stuff from God's Word related to Job's situation... nobody is forcing you to believe what the Lord says in His Word.
Again, another demeaning post claiming your correctness while disobeying God at every turn. You don't practice the most basic courtesy, exhibit any evidence of spiritual influence, but are right about everything. Jesus began to do and to teach. Do, then teach. I would have thought that someone who looked to Jesus with such earnest would want to follow His example.

You should go read how utterly rude Jesus was to the religious people of His day... they claimed to be speaking to the people in God's behalf, but weren't.

Jesus is God. He can see into a person's heart. Can you? Did Jesus say to be rude and demeaning, or to love?
You excuse your sin, and judge others for theirs. Christians cover other people's sins and confess their own.

I'm interested in what everyone has to say. That's why I'm here. I like to know what people believe and why they believe as they do.
I'm likely to reply where people might be mislead, but you are free not to answer. Grace and peace.

From what I've seen from your posts, that description fits you best.
Those deceived by the false teachings of that unrepentant murderer John Calvin... would say that.

It's always strange to hear of people who follow an unrepentant murderer thinking that would be a good guy to get spiritual advice from. laughing.gif

The thorn in Paul's side was a messenger of satan... it was the devil doing that not the Lord.
Nothing happens that the Lord does not allow. As @JohnB posted...
2 Corinthians 12:7
“And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.”

1 Samuel 16:14 Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him.

1 Kings 22:21-23
21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.
22 And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
Amen, bro @JohnB

You can stop pretending that it all depends on you. For it's not how much you love, as much as how much He loves you. -- The Way of Wisdom, Michael Card
I'm afraid it's both, Wise Mike...

Matthew 22:
37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Michael Servetus wasn't murdered by Calvin, check your facts.
The fallacy has been doing the rounds since the 2000s.
I don't have a licence to sin. When I do wrong I grieve the Holy Spirit & He convicts me. The loss & despair I feel bring me to repentance very quickly. Smaller sins are sort of filtered & stopped by my conscience, though I still do wrong at times.
The change in me is something remarkable, it's as though my mind has a buffer against inappropriate things & pride.
This change can't be faked. I don't sin much, but I do still sin & I'm forgiven in Christ.
You claim that because I follow Reformed theology I'm not saved. Then how come the Holy Spirit resides in me?
Re suicide, I'm concerned that new Christians & those seeking truthful answers may read this thread & give up in despair.
Suicide isn't as black & white as you purport.
The answer to a suicide's family or friends' query "Is my loved one in Heaven?" should be "If they were in Christ, yes, if not no." Or even "I don't know."
Some Christians suffer greatly before being saved, I'm glad that He brought you through your tough times and you're here now.
I'll keep you in my prayers.
May He bless you greatly.

You are excellent at changing what people write to misrepresent others. That's called being a false witness. You also use incendiary language to make yourself look better, and demean others. That isn't esteeming others better than yourself...not exactly acts of love or evidence of one led of the Spirit. Neither do I see your actions depicting love, peace or joy, not to mention goodness, gentleness, and or self control. These would surely be evidenced in one walking under the Spirit's direction. Who's fooling who?
You hit the nail on the head! The truth hurts but he really needs to hear it.

Speak of make yourself look better and demean others. This parable comes to mind:

Luke 18:9 - Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and looked down on everyone else/viewed others with contempt/despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Nothing happens that the Lord does not allow.
Big BIG difference in what His will is and what He allows.

God created man in His own Image... meaning man has free will and in Genesis God even said "let man have dominion"

So, it was not God's will for satan to disrupt Paul's ministry of teaching people to get saved and walk with the Lord.

God has to allow the seed time harvest process to play out since He is the One Who sovereignly put that in to motion in the earth... and when men sow to the flesh they reap corruption. It's not God's will that men reject Him and walk in darkness... but He allows it.

There are things both Paul and Job did in their lives that created an open door to the devil to be able to attack them. We should learn from their errors now that we have access to the whole counsel of God where they did not in their times.

Paul apparently did not at first follow Jesus' instruction in the great commission where Jesus said those that believe would cast out devils... which is why Paul is asking the Lord to remove the messenger of satan.

Now by the end of his life (last part of the Book of Acts) we see Paul living in his own rented house preaching the Gospel and .... NO man forbidding him!

He grew in the Lord from the devil always there disrupting his ministry, to NO man forbidding him so the gospel flowed freely and THAT is what God's will was for Paul's ministry.

Michael Servetus wasn't murdered by Calvin, check your facts.
John Calvin put a hit out on this guy... but did not hang the guy personally. This is still murder in John Calvin's heart against someone who's only crime was... not agreeing with Joihn Calvin's false doctrine!

According to John Calvin's own writings he admitted to putting out the order to have this man killed and he specifically said he had no regrets in doing so and if he had the opportunity he would gladly do it all over again.

But, all this aside, he teachings are not biblical so no matter how you slice it this guy was a heretic and had murder in his heart... which is why he is burning in hell as we speak.

The answer to a suicide's family or friends' query "Is my loved one in Heaven?" should be "If they were in Christ, yes, if not no." Or even "I don't know."
Meanwhile, big time popular preachers are saying on TV that if a Christian commits suicide they go to Heaven which is not only false doctrine according to God's Word... it brings great joy and pleasure to satan and all his demons cause these guys are speaking in behalf of the devil!

By doing this they are encouraging others to consider suicide when life gets tough and of course the demons will be right there reminding them it's OK to kill themselves because the popular preachers did say Christians that whack themselves all go to Heaven.

1 Corinthians 3:16,17
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
If any man destroys the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Yes, but we must not give a false picture of how God feels about us or how He deals with us. He is a loving and patient parent who ask no more than that we do our best. He understands that we will all have growing room till the day we die. His chastises out of a heart of love, not frustration. I agree that apostacy is possible, but I draw a thick dark line between daily slip-ups and willfully walking away from the faith. One is followed by immediate repentance and the other is followed by a usually permanent hardening of the heart.

Matthew 11:
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
