Nice to see you again anyways

Acts 10:47-48

So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.

I'll repeat myself, too (though not as much as you .;):giggle:)

Surely even you can see they already had the Holy Spirit?

Did you notice that the Gentile household of Cornelius RECEIVED the baptism with the Holy Spirit BEFORE they were water baptized?

I do love the precious gift of the Holy Spirit…
Why were they the only ones to receive it before water baptism?

The thief on the cross who believed was definitely water baptized after he believed....

Its obvious! Or, he could not be saved.

End of story.
May I suggest whether he was water baptized or not doesn't concern us. He died before Jesus received all authority and before He commanded baptism in the name of Jesus. Baptism in the name of Jesus concerns us.

yes there's such thing as being half a pint glass until your resurrected in Christ 😊. They call it baptism of fire, its when you receive the holy Spirit, but then your resurrected in Christ.. also during water baptism you close your eyes so you don't actually see the baptism of fire take place, it's a bit of doubting Thomas for some, because people cant see Christ when there resurrected, as it can take a while to get the shakes 😊

I disagree respectfully,

Jesus had all authority before the Cross. He said so.

The NT rebirth became a reality for those living AFTER the Holy Ghost was poured out at Pentecost.
That's the standard "cessationist work around. Biblically, the Holy Spirit INDWELLED at John 20:22, with the effect noted at Luke 24:45. The EFFECT of being indwelled by the Holy Spirit would be the "Opening of their understanding".

And Jesus told the Disciples who had already been INFILLED 50 days previously, to hang in Jerusalem for the "Enduement (clothing) w2ith power at Acts 2:4.

It still works the same today.

The NT rebirth became a reality for those living AFTER the Holy Ghost was poured out at Pentecost. (Acts 2:4, 36-42) Jesus prophesied that repentance and remission of sin would be preached in His name to all nations beginning in Jerusalem. (Luke 24:46-49)

The message was indeed first presented in Jerusalem and continues to be carried into all nations:

"Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of sin, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Jesus wanted everyone baptized in the Spirit, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus knew they would be confused in the beginning, assuming He meant water baptism.
But, eventually... after having water baptized many (as he had done prior to the Church age) Peter "finally" caught on
that its about Spirit baptism, no longer water as they had always done on a regular basis.

Take note! Read how Peter let us know that he had forgotten about how Spirit was to replace "water" baptism!
He was first told about it in Acts 1:4-5 and had forgotten...

Acts 11:15-17
“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.
Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized
with the Holy Spirit.’ So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord
Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?”

Yes! Many today are making the same kind of mistake that Peter had!

Its embarrassing for them, and many refuse to be corrected.

Notice the inability of some to see

Verse 47 in Acts chapter 10.

47 "Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?"

Cornelius received the Holy Spirit before water baptism and therefore was saved before water baptism.

It is funny those who use these verses and blinded by the very text that which says differently than they believe or think.

They suffer the same way of blindness as "good Catholics" who insist upon praying to Mary because that is what they were brought up to believe..

When they tell God's words, They should be able to prove it contextually instead of displaying intellectual dishonesty. Don't have scripture saying what they say.
