The mentality of the Judaizers was that the cutting off of a little flesh was commendable and pleasing in God's sight. In short, they taught that circumcision contributed to a man's righteousness. If this were really true, Paul queries, then why not press the matter even further? If cutting off a little flesh is good, cutting off much flesh is even better. Why not be so pious as to castrate oneself?

I wouldn't call Paul a sarcastic person; however, that oozed sarcasm in almost every statement everywhere he went. No. Just the opposite. He had his moments but they were exceptions to the rule and almost always seem to be employed in desperate attempts to protect new flocks of Christians from wolves (as was the verse in Galatians you referenced) rather than striving to appear as Paul the Snarky.

Thank you. And yes the Bible is full of irony and some sarcasm; however, sarcasm is not irony (1) and often we find the sarcastic people ending up in ironic situations that are very bad for them.

Unfortunately, they very quickly began vigorously opposing Protestantism and it can be argued that they do so today. Interestingly; however, they were not actually formed for that purpose.

When I realized I was wrong about the Catholic Church, I felt so angry. Angry at myself, at God, at life, and I didn't want to admit it. It was humiliating. But after a while, I accepted it, and eventually found myself in an even closer, more wonderful relationship with Our Lord.

Don't be afraid. It will be a painful journey, but you'll not be the first to take it, and you'll find so much joy on the other side. You'll find a much closer relationship to Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
