I said "I have two friends" not "I had two friends" and they are still my friends and I still witness to them whenever I get an opportunity to share the Truth of God... As far as denomination being important to you, it is also very important to me as well and so I am first and foremost a Christian but in my practice I am a member of an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church and I am so by conviction. Most people wether they will admit it or not are aware that in general most non denominational churches are a joke and are nothing more than entertainment hour which is not unusual for the Laodicean Church age that we live in. There are many Baptist Churches that are nothing more than entertainment hour and a business such as the southern Baptist convention which by having a convention cannot be Baptist at all. What I do know is that Yes, I really do have two friends that are lost and headed for Hell and they are dead in their sins because of what they have been taught. I understand that you and others are claiming that the catholic church does not teach such things and this could be true in certain churches but in general I know and you know that those things mentioned in the posts leading up to this post are being taught and people are perishing.
Oh ok I didnt know that about the Eucharist, sounds likely though. I didnt know a roof feel on people! Jeez. Hmm glowsticks I cant remember, I met some americans with tie-dye tshirts, and I met some from detroit who gave me a bracelet but there was a lot of americans out there! :p Did your group have a certain colour of tshirt? Did you meet any Irish people? :D
No we werent the group with tie dye shirts. I met them though. But I am from the detroit area! There were over 600 people from the archdiocese of detroit though, so many groups. My group was wearing gray t-shirts that had the american flag on it and said USA. They were pretty popular; a lot of people wanted to trade for them. and no i didnt see many irish people unfortunately. I think i did see one irish flag though.

Ok i got some Catholic fiction for you. Read "pierced by a sword" "conceived without sin" and "house of gold" all by bud macfarlane jr. Also read "a philidelphia Catholic in King James' Court" by martin de porres kennedy. And my favorite: "arms of love" by carmen marcoux. The sequal to that is "surrender" its reall good too.
And i have quite a few favorite saints. St. Michael the archangel and St. Martin de Porres are my top two.

Jesus is my favorite.
Jesus is not saint, he's God. A saint is someone who has dedicated their lives and denied themselves worldly pleasures to follow Jesus. Many of them freely died at the hands of an executioner for Christ. The apostles are an example of saints.

I suppose thats supposed to be funny. We take our faith seriously. Have a little respect.

And yes, I know about the vietcong and what charlie means. I have known a few vietnam vets and they would not think that was funny at all.

I'm sure you take it seriously. So does everyone who believes in some sort of god or another. I give all the same amount of respect. Now if you think this was disrespectful in some manner, why the attitude change?

Look back to posts 73-76.

And yes, I know about the vietcong and what charlie means.[/quote]
Charlie is used interchangably. It simply stands for the letter "C".

In this case, I was using it for Catholic.

The Viet Cong were refered to as Charlies during Vietnam, as that was the application for the time. The phonetic alphabet is applied in different ways in different situations.

If I wanted to say he was my favorite saint, I would have said, "Jesus is my favorite saint."

So pretty much any Christian who takes the word of God seriously instead of "payin' as ya' go"?

Hmm..
GotQuestions said:
Answer: The word “saint” comes from the Greek word hagios, which means “consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious." It is almost always used in the plural, “saints.” "…Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem" (Acts 9:13). "Now as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda" (Acts 9:32). "And this is just what I did in Jerusalem; not only did I lock up many of the saints in prisons …“ (Acts 26:10). There is only one instance of the singular use, and that is "Greet every saint in Christ Jesus…" (Philippians 4:21). In Scripture there are 67 uses of the plural “saints” compared to only one use of the singular word “saint.” Even in that one instance, a plurality of saints is in view: “…every saint…” (Philippians 4:21).

The idea of the word “saints” is a group of people set apart for the Lord and His kingdom. There are three references referring to godly character of saints: "that you receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints …" (Romans 16:2). "For the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12). "But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints" (Ephesians 5:3).

Therefore, scripturally speaking, the “saints” are the body of Christ, Christians, the church. All Christians are considered saints. All Christian are saints—and at the same time are called to be saints. First Corinthians 1:2 states it clearly: “To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy…” The words “sanctified” and “holy” come from the same Greek root as the word that is commonly translated “saints.” Christians are saints by virtue of their connection with Jesus Christ. Christians are called to be saints, to increasingly allow their daily life to more closely match their position in Christ. This is the biblical description and calling of the saints.

How does the Roman Catholic understanding of “saints” compare with the biblical teaching? Not very well. In Roman Catholic theology, the saints are in heaven. In the Bible, the saints are on earth. In Roman Catholic teaching, a person does not become a saint unless he/she is “beatified” or “canonized” by the Pope or prominent bishop. In the Bible, everyone who has received Jesus Christ by faith is a saint. In Roman Catholic practice, the saints are revered, prayed to, and in some instances, worshipped. In the Bible, saints are called to revere, worship, and pray to God alone.

Questions for Catholics
  1. What rituals must you perform in order to obtain the grace of God?
    1. "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace," (Rom. 11:6).
  2. Are you being good enough to keep yourself saved?
  3. If your salvation is dependent, in part, upon your ability to repent of your sins, what do you do with those since you have not repented of because you don't know about them?

It appears you edited this in while I was responding (took me awhile to respond, had to look up post numbers).

To further clarify.

Also, my father's uncle is a vietnam vet, and served in army intelligence in Iran during the Coup d'etat in '53 when the CIA overthrew Mohammad Mosadeq (democratically elected) and placed in power the Shah. My grandfather served in the Kansas Air National Guard, and there are others I could list if you care to know. Just putting this out there because It appears it would be neccesary.

However, it appears a storm is brewing.

Peace.

Hah I chose mine because I thought I might use CC for like one day, but I got hooked! It's pretty much just sort of ironic cos I'm a white Irish person, and my name is rodoggg (my name is Ronan). Basically, it's terrible, but if I change it now all the people I've met will get confused :/
