Hi all, new member here. Have always been a non believer or agnostic at best but started attending church with my partner as a requirement to get married there later this year and starting to really enjoy it.

I am starting to feel some sort of connection but couldn’t explain to you what it is, really strange. The reverend asked me if I’d consider baptism last week and previously it’s something I would have said down right No to but now would definitely consider it.

I’m wondering what I can do next in this journey and what I am looking for? Apart from the famous stories I know nothing of the bible generally but would like to start reading to learn more about faith.

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading the Bible.
This movie is a word-for-Word portrayal of John's gospel.

By all means, make it a habit to read portions of the bible on a daily basis. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

1st thing to do, always: become a BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN!!! study & learn Romans 10:9.
2nd: get baptized. baptism unites us with Jesus. we ae identified with Him in death, burial & resurrection.
3rd: get a King James version of the Bible. the Nelson KJV is very explanatory with great concordances, & study helps.
4th: join a Christian church. definitely consult Jesus on this.
5th: if you can, join church groups studying the word collectively.
6th; when you read the Bible, 1st ask God, in the name of Jesus to assist you in understanding the Bible (2nd Timothy 2;7 & 15).
blessings forever to you!

Acts 8

"And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

Why would Philip not baptize the man when he asked to?

ANSWER:
37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

xero838,

The Ethiopian needed to get saved first. He did this when he decided to trust the Son of God. After he did that, he decided to identify with Christ through water baptism in deep water
Baptism is a physical identification with a spiritual reality. A comparison is a ring is the symbol of marriage, but it is not the marriage. Like many things that follow salvation, which is a decision to trust Jesus Christ alone for that which we cannot do . He did what was necessary when He suffered our punishment for sins and died . After spending 3 days in hell, He arose and lives forever. He offers that gift of everlasting life to you as described HERE.<

Many thanks all for the suggestions. These videos look like a great start. Plan to buy a bible this week and start reading. Looking forward to church already and thinking about getting involved in some of their bible study groups and attending the early morning and evening services in the week also
