Please ceate a FAQ page. It would help if there were links to the rules and policy. I am really having a hard time trying to figure out how to do some things on this site. Examples of profile banners would be nice.where do they belong? how bif can they be? etc

There is a technical forum which might be helpful, in some cases success may be achieved only by trial and error.

Hello Judy. What is it you are trying to do? There are a few links on the bottom of every page.
Did you check the one called "Help"? It may contain some helpful information in what is allowed
in terms of content and how to achieve it with the proper coding. However, no profile images or
banners or anything of that sort is possible. There did used to be a basic rules page for conduct,
but I don't think that is around any more. There are a few pinned topics in every forum (well, at
least one and some have more); perhaps they could help guide you, also. The number one theological
heresy not tolerated here in denying the Deity of Christ. Having said that, some people get away with
doing it for quite a while before action is taken against them, at which time they are banned.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!

Trying what @Magenta suggested may prove to be helpful. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

That about looking at the bottom helped a lot. Neglected to do that BUT a FAQ is still need. You have a paying option but I see nothing about the privileges it offers other than the price. I don't see much about how to do things on this site. to expand that, I know some forums require that you need to post images by code from an image hosting site. The information I'm seeking and concerned with is for this spe site and not for general how to do.

Basics like how to copy and paste can be general and looked up but information about this site can be baffling if not in a help section.
I am not trying to cause trouble or be petty but I get a little puzzled when I see something on the site or in a post and can't figure out how to replicate it.

@AZJudy Hello again the privileges that come with being a paying member vary because it used to be that it allowed you priority mic access in the chat rooms over non-paying members when the chat rooms were working,... and apparently they are being worked on now but they are still not operational and have not been for some time now (many threads about this!).

The other thing you can get with being a paying member is being able to change the heading or title under your username from the standard one of junior, or senior, well-known member etc., to anything of your choosing as long as it's decent I suppose.

As for images, you can post directly from your device as long as the image file is not too large, though generally speaking I do prefer an image host, and the one I use the most is postimages.org

They allow you to resize on upload and also to share from other URL host sites because some images online do not allow file sharing and therefore you cannot just copy the file and expect it to show up on the boards here. Ipinimage and pinterest are exceptions of course as are others...

Also if you're curious to see how somebody has done something in their post, you can hit the reply button and then push the little cog icon above the message box itself and it will show you all the coding, which makes it very easy to duplicate whatever it is they've done, because then you can see what coding they have used to get the effect you are interested in. It is also helpful to use that cog icon if you are copying something that has hidden links in the text, because that will disable the links automatically, whereas if you don't disable the BB codes, then the links will get inserted into your message, though you may not see them except for it changing the color of the text. Hidden code does get counted in your character count for each post, which is limited to 10,000 characters. I know that sounds like a lot, but if you're making a fairly lengthy post and it has a lot of hidden code written into it, you will exceed the character maximum allowed.

Sent from my phone...

You can also change the font face and color and other things like italicize and/or underline your font using the BB codes although there are also icons specifically for that above the message box.

I forgot to mention that if you are using the icons above the message box to Italicize or underline your font or anything like that, then you must highlight the text you want to apply the effect to, or pre-select before you start typing or speaking.

First of all, thank you got the information. I have a couple more questions. I am not ignorant about how to use email or the bb codes but will admit to getting frustrated. I am not exactly sure what you mean about"...push the little cog button..." huh All I see is a thumbs-up icon. Is that it????

2. I saw a post called Loss of salvation??? bygratefuloneson Jun 1, 2024 in the Bible Discussion Forum. I clicked on reply but when I posted, I didn't see it in the list of responses. I have been using the Internet some3+ year but forums haven't been my thing. I'm only here for interaction with Christians Which discussion would be the " thread" Loss of salvation??? or Bible Discussion Forum??? I assume it would be Loss of salvation??? but the fact that it didn't post made me wonder. Thanks so much for your help.

You are welcome! The cog is the last in the line of icons above the message box when you are composing a post. When you hover your cursor over it, it will say, Toggle BB code. I did notice a post you replied to where the HTML quotes' coding had been somewhat messed with, which made the whole post display improperly. When that happens, check to see that both the opening and closing tags are there on the QUOTE and /QUOTE. The tags are [ and ]. If any of them is accidentally erased when quoting, it can cause endless amounts of confusion as to who said what to whom. You have a five-minute edit window to fix any errors, formatting, spelling, etc. And also delete. A large post that needs a lot of editing after posting may be best to take into edit mode, copy it, save by reposting, then delete it and start over with a paste of the saved content you copied.

You can always check your own post stream by hovering your cursor over your own avatar to the left of the message box. The number of posts' amount is a link to your post history. You can also search your own or anybody else's history using the magnifying glass at the upper right hand side of these pages. Key words are helpful but not necessary. Your avatar up there will also provide links when clicked. Your Content is your post history from there.

I tend to try to type in Word or compose on a blank email then copy and paste. That way, I don't have to retype if I lose something. type slower than dripping molasses. 😊I need to experiment more. Want to be my guinea pig? 😊 I found the "cog"

Oh, I meant to say also, if you are copying a post to paste into a new message box in order to make edits, it may be best to toggle the BB code cog, so that any effects you have applied to the font, whether it is color or italics are underlines etc., or any links, get copy and pasted over also. Otherwise, you are simply copying the text with no code... but I see you compose in Word! That is very smart... If you want to record where you (or someone else) actually posted something, you can click the number of your/their post on the board (you will find that in the upper right hand corner of the post) and that will change the url (which you would copy to save) to direct specifically to that post.

Oh, the thumbs up icon on posts (lower right hand side) is to leave reactions,
which will then show up on the lower left hand side. You can leave a reaction
on any post and respond also, or just use the reaction. This at least lets the
other person know you saw their post, and leaving a reaction notifies the other
also, with a link back to the post. I am off to bed now. Good night!

Hello again, Judy, and yes, here (<= link) is an example.

I am showing you a couple of things here, actually... .:D

If not more. .;):D

This would be for directing someone's attention to a specific post.

You could just copy the url at the top of the page and supply the forum and page number but then the other person is left looking for the specific post in question on the page they are directed to. This way, when you click that upper right-hand post number, it changes the url (you can watch it happen if you keep your eye on the address bar as you do it) to direct to the specific post. I could have just put the lnk in as the HTML https://christianchat.com/suggestions/create-an-faq-for-newbies-please.216176/#post-5355476 but I find that messy looking, and sometimes my browser converts it to something tidier looking to begin with = create an FAQ for newbies, please. - Christian Chat Rooms & Forums but I find the shortest link more appealing so I create my own. To prevent the link from turning the standard blue I apply any and all font effects to the text before I insert the url.
