NUMBERS CHAPTER 14 NOTES
v10 ââŚbade stone them with stonesâŚâ -Not clear the meaning
Bade is the past tense of bid. Bid means wish. They wished to stone them (Joshua and Caleb) with stones.
Is that what you meant?
v18 âThe Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.â - When has God said these words before?
Exodus 34:6-7
6 And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
and
Exodus 20:5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.

v26 Not clear who Moses is speaking to since it said he was speaking to the congregations, but he also says to depart from these wicked men. Who are the wicked men? Was Moses only talking to the people in v25 therefore the wicked men were the 250 men?
Yes, I took it as the wicked men were the men in vs. 2. He wanted the rest of the people get step away from them so they would not be harmed.
NUMBERS CHAPTER 18 NOTES
v21 God gave the children of Levi a tenth of Israelâs inheritance. I need to review where the inheritance stands at this point. God has gotten upset with the children of Isreal a few times. Caleb and Joshua and their seeds were to enter into the promise land with their seeds. There was also the children of those who murmured against God, that he showed grace towards that wandered in the wilderness for 40 years I think it was
v23 ââŚyour generationsâŚâ - Is God saying that they will have the inheritance in v21, but at this time for âyour generationsâ they have no inheritance?
I don't know if this helps any...
"Just as with the priests, this was a trade-off. The Levites did not have the best of both worlds; they did not have a personal inheritance of land as the other tribes did.
Those who are supported through the giving of Godâs people should expect that they would not have the best of both worlds; they will not be wealthy in this life, though if possible, they should be comfortable. It is wrong for the congregation to keep the pastor âhumbleâ through poverty, and just as wrong for the pastor to use the gifts of Godâs people to live above Godâs people."

v13 Your soul is cut off if you do not purify yourself after touching a dead body. Touching the dead was a serious offense. How did they go about burials?
Here's an interesting article...
"According to Jewish interpretation of the Old Testament Law, burial had to occur within 24 hours (Deut. 21:23). This was partly due to the climate in Israel, and partly because the body was considered to be ceremonially unclean and therefore had to be prepared for burial as soon as possible.
Shortly after death, family members came to mourn and prepare the body." source:

NUMBERS CHAPTER 20
v3 Not clear on what statement the children of Israel were making, but I know itâs not a good one
"If only we had died when our brethren died before the Lord: Their contention led them to make outrageous statements, and they spoke as those who have no trust in God. The older generation of unbelief was almost dead, and now the younger generation started to act like the unbelieving generation. They openly doubted Godâs promise that He
would lead them into the land of promise."
NUMBERS CHAPTER 20
v12 âAnd the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eye of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.â - Is God saying that Moses and Aaron didnât believe him are this congregation of Israel? If Moses and Aaron, when did they doubt the Lord? It makes sense for it to be the children of Israel, but the wording appears as if God is talking about Moses and Aaron
"Unbelief has many forms. It was easy to see Israelâs unbelief in Numbers 14 when they refused to trust God and enter Canaan. Here, Moses was also unbelieving, but in different circumstances. Moses did not trust God to correct His people, so he took it upon himself to do so at a time when God did not want to correct Israel. Moses acted more like an Egyptian prince than a servant of the LORD."
v16 âAnd when we cried unto the Lord, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of EgyptâŚâ - was the angel Moses?
Not in my personal belief. People (including Moses) are different than angels.
NUMBERS CHAPTER 21
v2 ââŚvowed a vowâŚâ - need to review what the meaning is
There should be more on the topic of vows coming up very soon.
v14 Where is the book of âthe wars of the Lordâ ?
Unfortunately, it is a book that is lost to us in the current time.
NUMBERS CHAPTER 22
v4 Midian is mentioned in this verse. The Midianites sold Joseph into Egypt. Mosesâ wife was a Midianite I think. Trying to note Midian in regard to Mosesâ wife and claims that Midian is associated with Ethiopia. If the Bible does not make that clear how can that be assumed? Zippor was king of the Moabites
Some suggest that Jethro, Zipporahâs father, was actually from Ethiopia but had moved to Midian, making Zipporah an Ethiopian by birth but one who had lived in Midian. We aren't entirely sure of this though. Sometimes, assumptions have to be made.
NUMBERS CHAPTER 22
v22 I donât understand why God is angry if He told Balaam to go with the men
The more you look into Balaam, the more you find that he really isn't a good guy. He isn't mentioned much more after this part of the Bible, but we will run into him again. I guess I'll refrain from saying more for right now, I'll leave it until we briefly run into him again.
v25 Is only the donkey seeing the angel of the Lord and not Balaam?
Yes, only the donkey sees the angel until the Lord allows Balaam to see the angel.
To be continued....
