Hey Everyone,
A song came on yesterday that I used to love, but it was popular during one of the most turbulent times of my life.
And I realized that even the first few notes had the effect of feeling like I was experiencing an emotional car crash, being violently thrown through the windshield, and then feeling every shard of glass piercing right through the depths of my soul.
In other words... All these years (decades) later, I still can't listen to that song.
What about you?
If a song reminds you of/is associated with a sad/traumatic event or relationship in your life, do you:
* Get rid of it immediately, never to listen to it again.
* Keep it as a reminder of lessons learned.
* Keep it in remembrance of something or someone you don't want to forget.
* Let it go for a while, but occasionally come back to see what your reaction is.
* Listen to it one last time, then let it go, or, keep it it if it no longer bothers you.
