Because its the pharisaical temple cult dressed up in Christ. I've proved it in this thread.
Strangelove

Okay. So, you say "The EOC is the pharisaical cult because the EOC is the pharisaical cult."
Again, no proof from you.

And, you haven't said what you think true Christianity is. You just say EOC isn't it. You haven't shown what Strangelove Christianity is.
Scott

No argument from me. EOC is not Christianity. It's hypocracy and pharisaical.
Strangelove

No truth from you either.

Why do you say something about me worshipping icons and saints bones? I do not worship icons. I do not worship saints bones.
Why did you make an icon of Peter Sellers AKA Dr. Strangelove?

That's right! No worshiping of pictures or any dead oracles or black magic kabbalistic rituals or idols or tv or hellwood or movie theaters..
But the one true God the Father who is one with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit!

It says you worship icons in your liturgy. Thats why.
Does it actually say that? I'm looking at some different sources for Orthodox liturgies and can't find that.

Excerpt from the EOC liturgy:

Open unto us the door of thy tenderheartedness, OBlessed Theotokos; in
that we have hoped in thee, may we not perish, butthrough thee be
delivered from adversities, for thou art the salvationof the generation
of Christians.

Then they approach the icon of Christ and kiss it, saying:
Thine immaculate icon do we worship, O Good One,asking pardon of our offenses, O Christ God; thou wast pleased of thy goodwill to ascend the
Cross in the flesh, to deliver those whom thou hadstfashioned from
bondage to the enemy. Wherefore, in thanksgiving, we cryout to thee,
with joy hast thou filled all things, O our Savior, havingcome to save
the world.
Then they kiss the iconof the Theotokos, saying the troparion:
A fountain of tenderness art thou, O Theotokos; makeus worthy of
compassion. Look upon the people who have sinned; show thypower as ever,
for hoping in thee, we cry out to thee, Hail, as once didGabriel, Chief
Captain of the Bodiless Ones.

An EOC 'er posted that on a thread I was debating.

You can find it in my important threads page.

I think it was....hold on...

Thanks... they probably think it's a different type of worship though, like not done the same way they worship God or something.

Yeah same tired old excuses.

I wonder if they teach their children the subtle difference between 'worship' and 'venerate'??

Whatever they are.

Christ said "I am the door". Did He mean He is a wooden plank with a knob? Sometimes language is not literal. Worship means venerate, respect, honor. You're still incorrect in your opinions, which is proved by the fact that you honor Peter Sellers.
It's okay to watch movies, but you should go by your own name, not by the name of Peter Sellers fictional movie character.
If your practice is about fictional movie characters, why isn't your doctrine also fictional?

I'm not sure if Strangelove's source is Orthodox either. He certainly has given no biblical reason to call himself Strangelove.

My assertion was that you worship icons.

If your liturgy says it, then I can say it.

I don't care about his nickname, 99% of people use names that aren't their real names on forums, mine comes from a cartoon I used to watch.

I searched for the term "
Thine immaculate icon do we worship" and found it on a bunch of websites apparently it's from something called the Service of Preparation or Proskomede.

You also say "by faith alone", when Scripture (James 2:24) says "not by faith alone". When the Scripture says it, I can say it.
No. The Orthodox Church does not worship icons in the sense of adoration as God. It venerates (honors) icons, just as Protestants honor the Bible. Veneration is not the same thing as worship as God. Worship can have more than one meaning. It doesn't always mean honor as God.
Orthodoxy also honors (venerates) the Bible as a verbal icon of Christ.
In that sense, Orthodoxy worships the Bible. So do you as a Protestant.

Alot of this squabble has to do with the difference of methods of teaching.
The EOC uses the Alexandrian method with many metaphors and analogies while the Antiochian method uses strictly the word and is very rigid in its belief structure. I really don't see a resolve to this dispute anytime soon because of the two very different styles of teaching.
It's like the difference between learning a trade (on the floor in the shop)or learning it by the book in college. The man from college may know all the technical jargin but the man on the floor knows it through practical application.:)

No I dont worship any bible. I dont put it in a glass case, I dont bow down to it, I dont kiss it. I dont venerate it. I dont say the OBJECT is HOLY and venerate/worship it.

Gods Word is Holy but I have no IDOL that I have carved.

And I dont say faith alone.

I say faith alone. (the kinda faith that produces good fruit).

Why do you have a photograph of Peter Sellers on your threads?
Why do you keep switching your national flags every so often?
