23Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. 24Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice,
an endless river of righteous living
. Amos 5:23-24

8These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Matthew 15:8

13 The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught. Isaiah 29:13

It appears to me that you have an issue with musical worship. How about you provide your own explanation of your position, rather than just out-of-context Bible verses.

Hymns and spiritual songs we sing should come straight from the word of God, teaching and admonishing one another. Of course, all things are to be done with a right heart motive.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

That doesn't quite seem to be his style. I just checked his post history. He seems incapable of doing as you request.

Sounds like you're weary of Christians who take to themselves the lord's name in vain

Indeed... he seems more fond of grenades than discussions.

Grenades in the sense that he throws one and walks away, never returning to discuss the topic. It's trollish behaviour and therefore generally frowned upon.
Well, throwing grenades is bad, but I was prepared to critique contemporary worship music, not so much re too noisy but as too repetitious IMO--singing a song once with maybe repeating the chorus twice is plenty, especially if it involves standing for very long! (Besides getting bored it makes my back ache :^)

You should feel free to sit if standing is physically uncomfortable. ;)

My granddaughter loooooooves the song Baby Shark. If she's not standing when it comes on, she jumps to her feet and raises her hand so that she hits the cue for doing the baby shark. Whether she loves the song because she loves baby shark or she loves baby shark because she loves the song I can't rightly determine until I can ask her those more complicated questions. I think it is the most annoying song ever created... although I do, do, do, do, do, do, do sing along with her, baby shark has to know that my heart isn't in it as much as hers. Similarly, worship songs are, ideally, those sung from the heart. Even of those songs that make no.1 on the secular, I don't think any can get there unless they've been able to move enough hearts to 'sing' along.

Singing from the heart is fine as long as it isn't mindless. Most worship music is fine the first time through, but I prefer moving on to the next fine song rather than running one into the ground, more along the lines of listening to CCM (sitting down in the car) on the radio.

Perhaps that is what your annoyance is picking up on, not so much the repetition but the heartless aspect of having to go through the (e)motion without it.

Naw, I think it is because I prefer sitting and learning God's Word with the mind more (longer than) than standing and emoting from the heart, although I do not demean either.

Therefore, ask Father of in risen Son for the discernment and remain harmless at the same time
it is not easy to be aware and know, to remain harmless is the not so easy part
Matthew 10:16-20
Then learn
Luke 21:14-15 when to keep the me shut up, duck tape over my mouth and chains around my body trusting God to keep me, you and everyone else at bay is the hard part, to me at least, thanks for the post
To not pull out weeds, for it might harm the wheat, have not always seen the true meaning in that, now am learning this too, thanking Father in his Holy Spirit given me to listen to. It is a daily thing for me at least

However, if you would like a hymn with substance rather than mindless repetition of cliches, however biblical, be sure and enjoy "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" by Casting Crowns for your edification this Christmas season. (It will make you cry :^)
