My wife and I have a rule about 'junk' in the house. If you don't use it at least once during 1 year than throw it away.
It means that you don't even know that it exists and it's in the house. lol
I remember doing a project during covid when we were all stuck at home, of digitizing every old thing in the house that i had accumulated such as VHS tape, cassette tapes, physical photographs and CDs.
They're all digital now, a project which took me 3 years. All the old stuff is thrown away except physical photos.
This way it's easier to see too. Like if i want to see old black and white pictures of my grandfather when the whole family went to the beach, i just just pull them up in one second on the phone as opposed to going into weird areas of the house such as the basement, then pull out some shelves and then take out the photos.

I did not do it myself, but I did get rid of my hundreds and hundreds of LPs around 2000 and then about ten years later jettisoned hundreds and hundreds of CDs (and cassettes) as well LOL. I had really moved away from music being so central in my life and spend a lot of time in silence to this day, although I do love modern praise and worship. That was the genre I saved all from, and I do still have some of my older CD music, but not most of it. Three years is a long time!!! I hope the technology does not change so much you lose access to all that you digitized...

In regards to technology; the way things are now is that you can actualize an object out of software as it's the case with 3d printing so there aren't any risks unless we lose electricity worldwide.
But i understand that there are different schools of thought in regards to hoarding.
I am a minimalist, or i would like to be. The less i have, the more functional i feel.
The house or the place you live is also a manifestation of one's personality and spirit which is unique.
Some like to keep stuff since childhood, others like me, always like to trim further so i am more functional and "clean".

The fact that people have universal healthcare like most civilized and advanced nations, would trigger many conservatives in USA to have a meltdown and despite all the jokes and memes that are flying around, i don't think most of Canadians who are in good mind would ever want to become the 51st state. Of course there are minorities on every group who think all kinds of things but let's keep this show rolling and have some refreshments.

Yeah, no one who has known me has ever accused me of being a follower. My life would have gone a lot easier had I just done what I was told. I don't think Americans understand the idea of "free healthcare". You need to take a trip all the way north and stay there until you need the healthcare system and see how well it really works. I think you'd come running home pretty dang quick.

That was a problem my daughter ran into with her aunt, because Auntie had lots of sentimental attachments to some of the family's accumulations, and even something that had been in storage for thirty years Auntie did not want to part with! LOL. Still, my daughter was a true warrior and powered through so much junk it is amazing, and she managed to sell quite a bit of stuff online, also. Her grand dad had used to make things with stained glass, so there were things like that she sold, old glass, related materials, and the tools etc. She even sold an old game boy box for I think it was over two hundred dollars. It was in pristine condition and holographic which was why someone bought it. The game did not even work any more but the guy did not care about that. He had been looking for that box for over a year! LOL! I did a really good apartment purge about a dozen years ago and I am due again...
