We all use the same terminology here terms like “ saved “ or “ faith” or even terms like “ the gospel “ but it seems like many of us dont understand those terms to mean the same things.

i think this is the root of a lot of arguing we tell each other things like “ saved by grace , through faith “ but when we say these things we have a totally different understanding of what we are saying and the other person is hearing and saying the same statement , but to then it is a completely different understanding of of “ faith “ or “ grace “ or “ truth “ or even “ saved “

I was wondering if anyone was willing to share what the term “ saved “ means to them .

just thoughts like . What are we being saved from ? Why do we even need to be saved ? Did God create us needing to be saved from anything ? Or do we sin and rebel against him and condemn our own selves by our own corrupted will ? And then does he come by his Will offering salvation to all sinners who hear and believe the gospel that he sent to be preached to everyone ?

I’m not looking to tell you why you are wrong , but curious as to what some others think and believe the term “ saved or salvation “ means when the Bible speaks of being saved ?

We can ……

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:15-16‬ ‭

v we can do this

“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

one builds up and brings mutual edification the other tears down

just to simplify “ what are we being saved from ? Or any other thoughts and beliefs you have regarding what salvation means to a person

God bless

Honestly most of the time I don't really think about what one is being saved from in specifics, but when I do think about it, I see it as multi-layered. Yes we are saved from condemnation, whether that is death or hell (a related but perhaps slightly different question), but we are also saved from our fallen state itself, being a creature that can do nothing good. For even while one has life, it is a curse itself to exist in a fallen state that can't help but hurt ourself and others. (This is why Paul speaks in Romans of the goodness of having the law to teach what's sin is even if it brought condemnation.) That God allows this at all is, I believe, only because of the hope of being redeemed that requires some level of life for changes to transpire.

Here are a few verses that might clear things up.

(1 Jn 3:4) Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

(Rom 3:21-23) But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

(Rom 6:23) For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(1 Jn 1:5-10) This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

How important is salvation from our sins?

(Rom 6:23) For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

That death is a spiritual death, separation from God.

(Isa 59:2) But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden [His] face from you, So that He will not hear.
Sin separates from God, unless that sin is repented of, that spiritual separation will be for an eternity.

(Mt 25:31-34)
"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
"All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides [his] sheep from the goats. "And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

(Mt 25:41) "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

(Mt 25:46)
"And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Saved from myself.

A person and their true self evaluation becomes the point of their worst road block towards moving forward. How many times do people hold onto the sins they have asked God to forgive them of but have difficulty releasing them?

Sometimes, we need to be saved from ourselves.

Saved means being spared from God's eternal wrath
Saved from the second death in the lake of fire.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no authority, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 20:6
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14-15

Im not sure I understand . You have trouble letting go of guilt for sin you repent of and ask for forgiveness for ?

I don't but anyone sitting in a Church pew hears a message talking about this under the context of forgive yourself because God has forgiven you.

Saved from what?

If "Saved means: Deliverance", then God's:

Grace, Peace, Mercy, and Love! Has This "Trio Deliverance" Scripture:

"But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should
not trust in ourselves, but in God Which raiseth the dead: Who
Delivered us from So Great A Death,..."
[ Past Tense From The Penalty of sin { "So Great A ( Second ) Death" Romans 6:23;
Revelation 20:15, 21:8 AV }, Correct? ]

"...and Doth Deliver:..."
[ Present Tense from the Power of sin, as we:
"work out our own salvation," (Philippians 2:12 AV),
by "accessing God's Grace," to overcome sin (Romans 5:2 AV),
by "putting on The Whole Armour of God" (Ephesians 6:10-24 AV), Correct? ]

"...in Whom we trust that He Will Yet Deliver us;"
[ The Final Future Tense From The Presence of sin = God's Great GRACE Departure!, Correct? ]
(2 Corinthians 1:9-10)

Amen.
