You sidestepped my challenge and avoided dealing with the problem with your interpretation. It’s still there.

Sir kindly share what you understand and how to follow this commandment of God.
How about an example of what you understand and how to follow it?
GENESIS 17:10-13
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

Would it be within the authority of an elder to test saints who claim to have the grace of giving?

Interesting question. I would think that anyone who genuinely has been given that gift would make no claim about it. Doing so would be an invitation to abuse.

Miss the point much? The thread is not about circumcision, so I’m not going to provide further response on this matter.

WRONG... as well as being stupid, ridiculous, and dangerous. Many people grossly misinterpret this verse, as you have obviously done. By the way, by doing so, you have done exactly what you think it prohibits.

It does not mean that humans are not permitted to interpret (or understand!) Scripture. If it did, all Christians would be contravening it, because we all interpret Scripture and understand it to some degree!

What the verse means is that the prophecies recorded in Scripture don't have their origin in the minds of men, but in the Holy Spirit. Humans didn't look at what was happening in the world and invent prophecies.

So... in light of this understanding, you need to rethink some things.

I think it is better to give us an example on how you follow it.
EVERY MAN'S CHILD SHALL BE CIRCUMCISED, YE SHALL CIRCUMCISE THE FLESH OF YOUR FORESKIN AND HE THAT IS EIGHT DAYS OLD SHALL BE CIRCUMCISED.

I have explained clearly that your understanding of 2 Peter 1:20 is incorrect, and I have given you the correct understanding. Why do you persist in error?

The question is "What are we do to today?"

Who is "they" in your reply.

There early church had no "staff" and therefore no volunteers.
Try reading the Book of Acts, the first few chapters. You are wrong. There were deacons, elders, apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists and pastors. You are making a big deal out of nothing.

Staff meaning “paid staff”.

And quit being condescending. You know by now I’m a student of the Bible and off the Word of God.

DEUTORONOMY 14:22-23

22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

23 And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always.
To take a law from the old testament book of Deuteronomy, that was given exclusively
to the Jewish people—not any other nation—that was 1500 years before Christ came into the world, before Christ built His church; before there was ever SUCH a THING AS A CHURCH; before the word “Christian” was ever heard of; and apply that to people today who follow Christ is unbelievable!!

The United States has had TWO CONSTITUTIONS; the first was The Articles of Confederation. It was replaced by The Constitution of the United States. No one, nor any state today is governed by any law from the Articles of Confederation. That law is OBSOLETE. We have a new law. Nothing in that old law is binding on citizens of the UnitedStates today. In like manner, there are at least TWO laws of GOD given in the Bible. One given by Moses (from God) in the Old testament that was only for a specific group of people—the Jews. It was NEVER A UNIVERSAL LAW for the whole world. Just like the Articles of Confederation were NEVER FOR ANY COUNTRY BUT THE UNITES STATES OF AMERICA. To take “tithing” which was a law for the Jews and say that that is a law for everyone, including people from other nations—gentiles, not Jews, would be like taking a law from the articles of Confederation and trying to make it apply to people in Canada.

To try to bind the old law given by Moses on Christian’s today is the same as trying to bind the Articles of Confederation on citizens of America today. Just as the Articlrs of Cobfederation is OBSOLETE, exactly the same way, the Old Jewish law given by Moses to the Jews is an OBSOLETE law and no longer binding on anyone—Jew or gentile— today. Hebrews specifically tells us this in Hebrews 8:13 and even tells us that the old law, the FIRST testament is VANISHING AWAY!! It doesn’t get any plainer than that. You either believe what God says inHebrews or you don’t. But Jesus says God’s word will judge us in the last day. John 12:48.

Here...

Given these two passages:

Genesis 17:10, 12 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. ... For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring.

Galatians 5:2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.

You claim, on the basis of Ecclesiastes 1:9 and Malachi 3:6, that God does not change His commandments. How do you explain the plain text which says "You must be circumcised" in one place, and "If you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you" in another? It sure looks to me that God changed His command!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Yes sir, my apology, now I got your point.
In Ecclesiastes 1:9 and Malachi 3:6. God never change.
How come The Law in Genesis 17:10-12 is being change in Galatians 5:2.

In Man's understanding the law is being changed.
But with God Revelation for sure it is not, because God will never contradict what he said.
I'm sure God will reveal the meaning of Galatians 5:2

Sir Dino, the topic in here is about Tithes & Offerings.
Just because of Ecclesiastes 1:9 and Malachi 3:6.
It is not appropriate to divert the topic into Genesis 17:10-12 & Galatians 5:2.

Let me make a separate post of it.
I hope you will follow it.

I know the topic is not circumcision. I introduced it to demonstrate that your understanding is incorrect regarding the texts discussing tithing.

Were they paid? "The labourer is worthy of his wage". I suppose you know that the Bible is the written Word of God.

Could they have demanded payment based on the scripture "the laborer is worthy of his wage"?

He gave these instructions to Israel, not to Christians.

If you think otherwise, then tell us where the Temple is currently located and when you last took your tithe there.

I don't know, I did not live in that era. I'm old, but not that old. Paul funded his own work even though he was entitled to be assisted by the church. Obviously other apostles were supported by the church. Later on in his life, Paul was supported by the brethren.

"Demanded" is a strong word. I would think that if the individual put in the effort and the church had the resources, that individual would be entitled to support. "Demand"? No. Someone might say that they were not able to do as much as required because they had to work. So either the church put up the money or they had less help than was otherwise available.

The fellowship I'm with was founded by an electrical contractor. He was a true giver. He worked hard and led the fellowship in the evenings. Whatever money was given to the church was distributed among those in need. We had a number of single mothers in the group, for example. When he was older and unable to work as a contractor, the church stepped in and met his every need. One of the fellowship bought him a house outright. He never went without. And that is as it should be.
