A trade war with China is long over due. China is a political foe and has been allowed to become too great an influence in America. There are plenty of other more friendly nations we can get to do the things China does for us.
There may be some short-term problems, but everything is manageable.

Alot would be enough to get Canada to make major border commitments.
The statistics show Canada is not a major source of fentanyl nor for illegals crossing.

That is just Trump trying to play "tough guy" and it makes him look erratic but what else is new.

So how many fentanyl deaths are acceptable to you from Canadian assistance? And official statistics from a largely unguarded border are reliable?

And yes, it is a power play by Trump. This is also long over due for America to assert itself in world affairs. The world is safer when America properly polices it.

Yes Trump does employ reductionist thinking.

Newsflash... manufacturing is not coming back to America and if it did it will be just in time for the robots to take over.
Nobody knows this for sure.
I mean he already got Mexico and Canada on the negotiation table.

As far as the robots go, i do agree with you that they will replace humans in manufacturing while the workers do other things with their lives.
This is what Henry Ford did with automation.
However, whether it's robots or humans, the point is that it needs to say Made in USA.
This is what Trump wants to accomplish and he already got Mexico and Canada in negotiation table.

Looks like Trump has signed an executive order protecting women's sports.
Finally!

Among other notable news, was that Trump has blocked USPS incoming packages from China.
Let's see how far is China going to play poker with Trump.

Do you seriously believe manufacturing will return to the USA?
Yeah, i'm betting money on it.
You wanna bet? :)

Remember when i told you that the liberals will go into "re-education" camps?
I won that bet too.
The whole woke agenda is being destroyed.

The woke agenda was a side show, a distraction and it worked.

Manufacturing is already returning to the US. If you are going to place this bet then don't bet on manufacturing returning, bet on manufacturing jobs for people returning.

3d printers, robots, and AI makes it cheaper to manufacture in the US than overseas, but that is only because they don't need to hire American workers.

Yes we will put the robots to work, of that I have no doubt.

I will bet that one year from today unemployment in the US is 15% or greater.
Interesting bet.
I'm not sure how to play this one because these cycles always happen in history when automation is introduced and then people do something else.

Two years from today unemployment is 30%, that would be greater than the worst time during the Great depression. I'll add that to the bet to sweeten it for you.

Since i do work with computers and Microsoft cloud services, i can tell you that all automations that have been put in place in the workforce in the last 10 years, haven't eliminated jobs but they have been steady because all the folks who program the automation in the background, will need to stay in the background to maintain the program.
I would give you though, that all human interactions such as phone calls to the helpdesk have almost been eliminated.
That part is true.

But to maintain "ai" there's a team of engineers in the background.
Are you aware of Apple data centers? They take up the size of Rhode Island if they're all combined in one place.
And this is just Apple.
