"You for example as a card carrying Republican member, tend to be more biased on this aspect than me."

1.) You failed to rebut a single thing I said.
2.) Because you could not rebut anything I said, you resorted to simply calling me names.
3.) You claimed that I am biased, and yet your only way to assert that bias was for YOU to make the ULTIMATE STATEMENT OF BIAS... you made an AD HOMINEM ATTACK. You labeled me as a "card carrying republican" and used that label as the sole grounds to undermine and discredit my arguments... rather than giving rebuttals.
Name calling and smears rather than debate... nicely done.
4.) I never called you any names, and I never resorted to any ad hominems... YOU are the only one showing clear and open bias.

When you resort to ad hominems rather than rebuttals... I presume the debate has ended.
Have a great week.

.
You fail to understand that an empire is built on ideology and then you want a discussion?
The debate has indeed ended.

Maybe the Soviet Union was built on Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s writings.
Enjoy the week until next time.

Me myself as a 19yo i really look up to those who died defending the faith in thr medieval times is it healthy to think that as a modern world we need some new crusades to restore faith and to defend christian lands thanks for the help.
God bless you all
Many wars and terrible atrocities have been done in the name of Religion. I am not talking just about "Christianity or any specific religion. What is needed is LOVE and the principles of Jesus. While sharing beliefs should be important, cramming beliefs down throats shouldn't be. JMO (just my opinion)

Great reply. War against flesh and blood does not exemplify what Jesus came to do. He said He came not to condemn the world but to save it. As followers of Jesus, we are to wage war, but not with strength of arm. Jeremiah 29 states that those who trust in man and the flesh of his arm are cursed!
No, our battle is not against people but against the lies and the authority from which the lies are perpetuated. Our war is against the heart of man and as such can only be won if we wield the sword of the spirit, God's Word, to dispel the lies and save the soul living in captivity to them.

Hello Ray2005,
I would like to direct you to Ephesians 6:12. It states: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
This scripture is a reminder that our fight is not a physical fight. You mentioned fighting to take back "Christian lands". Yet Jesus said to Pilate, "My kingdom is not of this world: if My kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is My kingdom not from hence." (John 18:36)
There is a fight. It is a spiritual war for the souls of man. Every man, woman, and child killed not knowing Jesus as their Lord and Savior dies not knowing salvation form the flames of Hell. Yet, Jesus died that all mankind might be saved.
If you want to fight the good fight, then take up the Sword of the Spirit and learn how to weild it. This Sword is the Word of God. It is "quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerned of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)
The only way we can hope the land we live in is a land holding to a faith in God the Father, Son, And Spirit, then we must know the Bible, speak the Bible, and pray for the hearts and souls of the people to hear and believe.
Ameen and God bless you! 😊

I see you might have a question about the crusades or church history.
I think Ray is gone. A lot of new people stop by, post something and move on. What he posted here seems to ring true though.
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks. I know enough about church history both good and bad. Crusades are one of the darkest periods in my opinion.
God bless u.

There are many angles to this to consider. I'll see if I can sum it up.
  1. The Crusades were led by Christian nations similar to how the Ottoman Empire saw America as a Christian nation. The European armies just as in early America were led by Christian doctrines and values.
  2. How Christian were these nations? They were of the Catholic faith where personal Bibles were typically only available to the clergy or royalty.
  3. It was indeed an act of self-defense to prevent the Muslims from invading Europe and to recapture land that had been taken by the Muslims forcing their people into slavery or 3rd class citizenry.
  4. Like most wars, people on both sides found themselves doing things we would judge today as evil. Unfortunately, for the Crusaders it was often the clergy teaching false doctrines.
Over 1000 years of Jihad by Islamic states forced a response. There is nothing unbiblical as a nation to defend themselves defensively or offensively. The Biblical guidance to government and military does not have the same language given to the individual or the family. They carry the sword to protect their people from evil.

Assuming they are on the side of good I believe the Crusades were justified but not always carried out Biblically. Seeing how God commanded Joshua and David leaves room for discussion on what could be considered boundaries on how to treat your enemy in war as Joshua was often told to destroy the whole place, all the people, and even the animals.

The New Testament is mostly guidance for the individual and the church would definitely influence the military, without neglecting the fact, that the military carries the sword to protect. For the soldier to love their enemy may mean to humanly end their life. This is why even the nations today with Christian foundations have laws of war and weapons that are outlawed.

In summary, the Crusades should remind us that as a military it is okay to be led by Christian values and still go to war. Even though those values for them were twisted by the clergy, we shouldn't neglect the fact that God ordained good governments to protect us.

That should be their duty. That was the right response of Europe. As to how they carried out every mission, that is debatable and of course, must be judged by each case and not the whole conflict.
