The telephone wires wherever you go have sneakers hanging from them. Gang members do that when a member of their gang is killed. I taught at a school in Brooklyn and every year we had students who were killed, knifed, etc.

Once I heard from a teacher that one of my students had lost his cousin who was murdered the night before. So when I saw him and expressed my condolences. But as we talked I realized he was not talking about the same person the teacher had told me about. I brought this up and he thought I had been talking about a different cousin of his who had been killed. He had had two cousins murdered.

There's a whole lot of sneakers hanging from light lines in Texas too. Texas is so strict on marijuana that most of the kids do drugs they don't test for so they can still get jobs. They take acid, mushrooms,extaicy and a whole bunch of other stuff they don't test for but I don't know all the names of it. The meth heads seem to be becoming the new cheap migrant labor I hired one to cut down a bunch of brush and do the hedges for 50 bucks. It took him two days working all day long.

Everybody in Texas has guns even those who aren't suppose to have them. I thought about what you mentioned when he was in the yard swinging the machete but it isn't an issue for some reason. I almost didn't hire him when he said he would do it for 50 bucks because I didn't know him but my mother said he cuts the lawn for 20 bucks all the time with no problem so I wanted to see who he was. He's in his 50's and does work for the other neighbors also.
