Uhhh...
I do rinse it out with hot water...![]()

Dish washers seem like way more work than simply washing a dish after you use it. Food typically comes off a lot easier immediately after using it too. I mean, prerinsing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher is doing 85% of the cleaning already.... May as well do the last 15% instead of loading the dishwasher, inspecting that they were thoroughly washed, and putting the dishes away. No thanks.
I used to wash them all the time.
My mother started complaining how I wash dishes and very often, would stand behind me, judge me and continue to verbally assault/critique me. Eventually, I gave up on helping out with the dishes and rarely ever do them, unless they are mine. There is only so much disrespect I put up with.
I think it is funny that I’ve worked as a steward, at Disneyland, in four different restaurants (Blue Bayou, Carnation Cafe, Club 33 and Red Rose Tavern) and I’ve worked as a general dishwasher at a pizzeria restaurant (Wise Guys Pizzeria) and my mother, who has never been a professional dishwasher in her life, well maybe bar tending, thinks I’m doing it wrong.
Bioengineered fish that live in a bucketI rinse my coffee cup out every day... and wipe down the spill trails on the outside, too .
No soap is used in either endeavour...
But, oh! Doing dishes is a whole 'nother conversation!
I wrote a poem about it... dishes and fishes...
*clears throat*
If dishes were fishes they'd lick the plates clean
Needing no water in basins to rinse per routine
To get rid of all traces of gravy 'n' poutine
Not that I'm a lover of such French fried spuds
But I needed a rhyme or this poem'd be a dud.
And dishes are doozies, the doing, the mess
I really detest them I freely confess.
Much rather I'd have fishes swimming in my sink
To ponder and muse on and help myself think
Of the mysteries profound and the awe life us brinks
Instead of dishes piled up and causing a stink.
To go swimming with fishes - of mammalian species
Is dreamed of by many and this ain't no deliracy!
Nor drummed up by those in the making of seaspiracies
To lay bare the horror of fishy atrocities
Oh, no, so I'm told these dear fishies do bear
All manner of discomfit empowered to snare
Their flesh although scaly and meat bony within
There still are those, yes! Who with fish long to swim.
And just think of it, fam, if dishes were fishes
The delicacies beyond even outlandish wishes
Would be served up daily alongside spud knishes
Though caviar and sushi they'd sure hope were bishes!
That's quite an amazing resume.
I'd love to go to each of them but know they're way out of my league, lol.
Which was your favorite?
And how did you like working at Club 33, since I've read it takes $25K-$100K just for an initiation fee, then about $13K -$30K per year in annual dues?
I once worked in a retail store near a retirement wonderland with all kinds of people who seemed to think the world owed them something because they had money. (The most entitled-acting populations I've ever worked for are those that have money, or think they do, and those who don't have anything and think the government should pay them to exist.)
I can't imagine working at a place of that kind of caliber. You must truly be the best of the best, to be picked for something like that.
I'm certainly not saying all wealthy people are like that but my experience with the general population has been traumatic enough, let alone those of elite whale status.
Did you see a lot of famous people there?
If you want to see my full resume, check out (https://www.LinkedIn.com/in/sts1988). I literally took all day updating it this week. I went from getting 15 impressions in a month, to like 6000 in just a few days over night. Who knew you had to completely fill out everything on LinkedIn to get any attention. Before this week, I think I only had three education experiences up, no licenses or certificates and only like 18 experiences. Now it’s like quadruple that because I literally put everything I’ve ever done or received.
I guess people do only believe what they see, which is sad.
I would say, ‘Blue Bayou’ was my favorite restaurant to work at, just cause I loved the sound of the artificial swamp animal noises, the artificial night sky and the smell of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Plus, it was my hire on location. I knew almost everyone there, so it was fun. The only famous person that I heard eating there, while I was working, was sadly the famous male porn star, ‘Ron Jeremy’.
At the time when I worked there, I lived in Huntington Beach, California, literally a block away from the Huntington Beach pier. I was only 20 years old and living with an ex girlfriend at the time, whose uncle owned the properties there.
When I worked at Club 33, the cast of Tropic Thunder was there but usually, when I would work there, you had a lot of snobby people. The great thing about working at that location, is once it was the end of the night, I’d get to take home a bunch of already cooked filet mignon, to share with my ex and her friends at the time.
My least favorite place to work, was Carnation Cafe, only cause you had to wake up super early to get there and start prep work. Plus, I didn’t have a car at the time, so I would take a bus from Huntington Beach or use my ex girlfriend’s car.
My most previous position at Disneyland, was at Red Rose Tavern, where they wanted me to become a steward trainer but I literally thought I was made for something else, even though my last name ‘Spence’ means “Steward”
P.S. The poll answer about baiting mouse traps with peanut butter and not solid gold (aka cheese) is for @Tazzo, in reference to her posts in the Sweet Tooth thread going on in Miscellaneous.![]()
As a still recovering CLEAN freak, i hear you sister! My children also experienced the horror of freezing their posteriors off at times, cos of course the house had to be thoroughly aired daily, even if it was 6 C below.Hey Everyone,
Some time ago, I was a bit distressed to learn that a guy friend only washes his coffee cup once every one or two weeks, while still actively using and drinking from it every day.
Now, I'm not trying to be judgmental, but I would personally be afraid of getting sick from some kind of bacterial infection.
But to each their own, and if something works for someone and does no harm, then I say keep on drinking from that same old crusty cup!
As singles, we sometimes get to slack on a few domestic chores, putting them off for much longer times than if we had a family. When I moved into a place that had a dishwasher, I quickly realized that in order to make use of it, I would have to actually own enough dishes to fill it up!
Having battled with stomach issues on and off, I make sure I wash all the dishes I use every day. I usually don't like leaving dirty dishes overnight, because I hate the idea of things growing -- or feeding -- off them. True story: I once walked into a friend's kitchen, then yelped and ran right out because I heard an unmistakable, "SQUEAK!!!"
For whatever reason, in this household, no one washed the dishes until every last one was used -- and therefore, they just set up a mouse trap on the counter to catch anything that ran by. By time I had the misfortune of walking in, not one, but TWO mice had been caught -- in the same trap.
ACK.
I'm not meaning to judge anyone, but that's just NOT for me!!!
* How about all of you?
* What is the catalyst that make YOU decide it's time to wash dishes? (Or at least, your morning coffee cup.)
This, of course, is a question for everyone, not just singles! Everyone is welcome to answer.
* Do you have family members you wish would do dishes more often? Who has the responsibility in your house of making sure they are washed?
* Do you use a dishwasher or prefer to wash by hand?
Just for fun, I'm going to post a poll with multiple choices and visible answers.
We may not be airing out any dirty laundry here (we'll save that for another thread,) but how about exposing all of our dirty dishes?!

Lol!
Thank you for reassuring us that the rodent living in your house was not a family member.
My Dad worked at a grocery store and he's told us some hair-raising tales of taking the garbage out to the dumpster -- and encountering rats the size of cats.
I'm pretty sure if I encountered a rat like that, I would let out a scream heard 'round the world -- then promptly pass out -- or die of a heart attack right on the spot.![]()
