Hey Everyone,

I was thinking of this while I was in the store a few days ago.

If they weren't so expensive (or if I had the money to spare,) I would splurge on:

1. Fresh flowers every time I went to the store.

I love the beauty and intricacy God's puts into nature, and I have always loved flowers. I also love appreciating (and supporting) the artistry of those whom God has gifted to put floral arrangements together. I would love to come home to flowers every day!

2. Fresh mushrooms.

Seeing as I can eat a whole pack in one sitting and they usually cost $3-$4 here (depending,) I have to see these as a rare treat.

3. Various fresh fruits.

I don't know what it's like in other areas, but out here, you'll often find yourself paying over $1 for an apple or any other fruit sold by weight, and then you wind up throwing a good part of that away due to the core, rind, etc. The past several years, I've been buying canned and frozen fruit instead. And yes, you can buy bags of apples and oranges that are cheaper, but being one person, I don't consume them fast enough in that amount.

And of course, for me, the ultimate splurge would be:

4. Travel. (Though I find I'm becoming more limited due to motion sickness.)

What about you? If it wasn't so expensive, what are the things you'd splurge on regularly?

* Hobbies, crafts, and interests? A new fishing boat or gear? Tickets to a sports game?

* Toys, whether for you or your kids?

* Date nights with your spouse?

* Cars, clothes, shoes, trinkets that catch your fancy?

I know someone will say they'd just give away more money, and that's wonderful, but this thread is just meant for fun and to get to know what people like (and would be willing to spend money on, if they had it.)

So what are some fun things YOU would buy AFTER you've already done your giving? :)

I'd probably go out to dinner more. I might even buy a steak! 😬
Your reply reminds me of my hubby. He loves steak, use to throw it on the BBQ. Not anymore. Shoot, we can't even afford eggs and bacon! He did resort to buying a very thin, sickly looking Save A Lot "steak" the other day that he deemed "ok". I felt bad for him.

I would buy a small motor home so I could visit my nephew Jasper more often. Staying at motels gets expensive.

Poor little steak.

It must have been a distant ancestor passed down from the "thin, sickly cows" Pharoah dreamed about (and Joseph interpreted) regarding the upcoming famine in Egypt.

I've been following the tiny home, RV, van, and alternative living/travel community for some time.

On one hand, I'd love to have something like that to travel the country with. I love road trips, and as you said, hotels and motels cost big $$$.

But in my case...

I'd also have to hire a driver to take me everywhere, because I don't even like driving my parent's SUV, let alone anything bigger than that.

Isn't it crazy that life has gotten to a point where everyday people can't even afford bacon and eggs?!

Eggs have been a major protein source for me my entire life... Now I'm having to look into using beans as as substitute.

I guess it's a good thing I'm single, or anyone around me might just have to suffer!

(I've actually never noticed much of an effect from beans... But I've also never had to consider them as a major food group!)

I'm definitely on board with the massages.

I've only had maybe 3 in my life?

One was a special kind that's designed to be anaerobic exercise -- your muscles basically react like you've had a thorough workout, while all you've done was lay on a table and let someone else do all the work!!

Shoot!

If that's the case, you can sign me right up, several times a week.

You can get frozen fruit at a really cheap price and they are really fresh but frozen.

1. A property on the water, on Balboa Peninsula, in Newport Beach, California with a yacht that I would prefer sleeping on, than actually being in the giant house.

2. a day and night Paris date day getaway; where me and someone special would just go to Italy for a day, fly there, enjoy our day and night, maybe stay at a hotel and just come back home after we are done with our date.

3. a helicopter ride over Southern California marriage proposal.

4. a Mercedes G Wagon

In elementary school; my mother, sister, myself and my mother’s meth dealing boyfriend (he turned his life around eventually) lived in motels for years, while my mother became a stripper just so we could survive.

And I wish all the people I love the most
Could gather in one place,
And know each other and love each other well.
And I wish we could all go camping,
And lie beneath the stars,
And have nothing to do and stories to tell.

If I had the money I would have a meet up three times a year. I think that's about right. Not often enough that people start dreading it, but not seldom enough that we start wishing it was sooner. And if weather canceled it or if somebody couldn't make it this time, we would always have the "Oh well, we'll catch it next time" factor.

Doesn't really matter where. Hotel near a theme park, campground, rent a house near Branson Missouri or Gatlinburg Tennessee, whatever. Just a place where we could hang out with friends three times a year and decompress and reset ourselves.

Eggs would be first on the list.

Prime filet Mignon and rib-eye steaks and prime prime rib roasts.

I'd eat out more often.

I might buy new vehicles more often if'n I had the cash lying around.

Candy prices have gotten so high that I can't afford to buy the stuff anymore... which is fine since it isn't good for me.

I currently don't purchase the bread I'd like to buy but settle for less expensive options, so I guess I would buy the bread I actually want.

I wouldn't give more money away. I'm about as holy as I'm gonna get in this life...

I might stay in nicer hotels than the ones I stay in now when traveling. It would be a real treat if I could stay in a hotel that didn't have "roach" in the name. Remember when Motel 6 cost $6 for a room and Super 8 cost $8? I do.

I might pay for a good massage every once in a while. I once got a massage in Japan that made me feel like I had a new body for a whole week. That's the only good massage I've ever had. I think a truly good masseuse is extremely rare.

I use to practically live at Motel 6 and Super 8.

i remember a kind of TMI story when I lived at Super 8. There was a Del Taco across the street, I was maybe in 5th grade. As I ran across the street, illegally, I accidentally c**pped my pants... I ended up still ordering a bunch of tacos and ran back across the street with my sister. What a life.

I vote for a theme park meetup, of course! :D

Rofl sometimes for a quick meal I make hot dogs, Mac n cheese and beans. I always look at hubby and say "it's gonna be a windy night tonight"! Hopefully the price of a lot of things will come down soon and you won't have to resort to a bean diet. :)

I spent a lot of years traveling in motor homes. I could probably write a book. But one year we were in FL and I didn't even stop to think how different FL could be from Canada. We set up the motor home and I went for a walk on the grounds with my little American Eskimo dog. If you remember me from my other account my avatar was a little white fluffy dog. Anyhow as we were enjoying the fresh air my eye happened to catch a sign that said be careful small animals because of alligators in the area. I looked at my dog and said " Well, that's the end of that walk!" and back to the RV we went, fast as our legs could take us. Good times. lol
