Rofl sometimes for a quick meal I make hot dogs, Mac n cheese and beans. I always look at hubby and say "it's gonna be a windy night tonight"! Hopefully the price of a lot of things will come down soon and you won't have to resort to a bean diet. :)
Aww, the dreaded beans we Americans hate.... well, we lived of them at one time, and they're really not that bad once you get use to them. For a milder flavor, you might like a paste of chickpeas and garlic. It makes a marvellous spread on wraps and sandwiches. 😊

LOL!!!

This made me laugh out loud! Thank you so much for posting this! I know this is the Family Forum but we're blessed to have you stop by even in Singles sometimes and give us single folks a great big "GUST" of reality!!!

I mean, honestly.

For all the times we singles get upset and pouty at not finding "the one," here we have a fine example of things we'd have to adjust to if we got married! Makes me wonder if singles who were used to sleeping next to (possibly gassy) pets would fare better at getting used to it, lol.

And, it also makes me want to post a poll...

You know, something like:

"Would You Rather Deal With a Gassy Pet, or a Gassy Spouse?!!":ROFL::ROFL:

But, I'm not going to, just because I have to think of how it would look to people looking for a Christian website and something comes up about fart-y pets, husbands, and wives.

Oh, it's hard to be good sometimes!!:geek::p

But thank you so much for the honesty and the laughs!

a nice steak is just so expensive now, I'm even just talking about from the market. I'm seeing like $15 bucks a pound.

Hey Everyone,

I was thinking of this while I was in the store a few days ago.

If they weren't so expensive (or if I had the money to spare,) I would splurge on:

1. Fresh flowers every time I went to the store.

I love the beauty and intricacy God's puts into nature, and I have always loved flowers. I also love appreciating (and supporting) the artistry of those whom God has gifted to put floral arrangements together. I would love to come home to flowers every day!

2. Fresh mushrooms.

Seeing as I can eat a whole pack in one sitting and they usually cost $3-$4 here (depending,) I have to see these as a rare treat.

3. Various fresh fruits.

I don't know what it's like in other areas, but out here, you'll often find yourself paying over $1 for an apple or any other fruit sold by weight, and then you wind up throwing a good part of that away due to the core, rind, etc. The past several years, I've been buying canned and frozen fruit instead. And yes, you can buy bags of apples and oranges that are cheaper, but being one person, I don't consume them fast enough in that amount.

And of course, for me, the ultimate splurge would be:

4. Travel. (Though I find I'm becoming more limited due to motion sickness.)

What about you? If it wasn't so expensive, what are the things you'd splurge on regularly?

* Hobbies, crafts, and interests? A new fishing boat or gear? Tickets to a sports game?

* Toys, whether for you or your kids?

* Date nights with your spouse?

* Cars, clothes, shoes, trinkets that catch your fancy?

I know someone will say they'd just give away more money, and that's wonderful, but this thread is just meant for fun and to get to know what people like (and would be willing to spend money on, if they had it.)

So what are some fun things YOU would buy AFTER you've already done your giving? :)
I would visit the coast / beach more often . I love to b by the sea . I'm honestly glad that I'm not rich or I would drink too much red wine 😞 . I don't drink it often but I'm sure if I had lots of cash to spare , I might b tempted . Fruit and veg r affordable in North East England but meat is expensive all over the UK , except for chicken , they r inexpensive but lamb and beef r out of my league . I wouldn't want to b wealthy , it would not b good for me I'm sure . I'm grateful and content with what I've got and those things that I can't afford.....they wouldn't do me any good 🍷 .

This is such an excellent observation, Suze.

I've often wondered if God limits us because He knows too much would lead to our own excessive ruin.

Soak your dried beans the night before and that will reduce the issue.

Well He knows us better than we know our own selves and He knows how to keep us out of trouble 😜 .

Thanks! I forgot to add that ingredient! Then RINSE well before adding fresh water to cook. I use my instant pot.

Wait, what? Who hates beans?

Show me this bean hater. I'll defeat him with one fart!

Down here in the South we do a lot of beans. White beans, cooked for a long time, goes great in a bowl with some cornbread. And, with cornbread, it's a complete protein. There's also brown beans, simmered for a while with a ham hock. And I love a good pot of chili with ground deer meat and kidley beans. (I said kidley, diddle I?)

Don't go around saying we Americans hate beans. That's yankee talk. >.>
