Oh! Off topic, but I realized a little while ago that my water baptism's 20 year anniversary was two days ago .:D
Our entire family getting baptized on 24 November.
I had to take two baptisms classes. They were vetting us to make sure I was legitt with knowledge, and I still have an interview upcoming with the senior pastor.

That's awesome! My baptism was at the end of an Alpha Course that I had attended. I had been invited by a friend who was to be one of the table's hosts, a woman in AA that I'd sort of "run into" at a meeting after losing track of her for a few years... in fact, I did not know it was her until she was asked to share. She had a very distinctive voice/accent. I'm trying to remember all the details. I think I was at a cake meeting. Maybe a year before that, a guy I had heard share at a speaker meeting where, after the speaker shared their story somewhat in depth, others were asked to share, and without fail, each told us many of the terrible things they had done in their life but were all quick to add, "But I was a good person." Then this guy was asked to share, and after walking to the podium, he immediately said, "I don't know about being a good person. I lied because I was a lair. I stole because I was a thief. I cheated because... " He went on like that, and then walked away from the mike, back to his chair at the back of the room. My spidey senses were on high alert. WHO WAS THAT MAN??? His share was so unusual I wanted to talk to him, but I did not get the chance to. I don't think I saw him again until that meeting, where I ran into that woman. She was a Christian, of course, being a host at an Alpha Course, and so was he. Such brutal honesty. No apologies or excuses or rationalizations like everyone else had offered up. Anyways, I got invited to this Alpha Course by this woman I had not seen in years, and she was friends with this brutal honesty guy who had so impressed me with a share about a year earlier. I had been firmly ensconced on the fence about Christianity... though I had been going to church for a few months... the same church this woman attended! So I said yes to the Alpha Course, not knowing that part way through I would come to the realization that I no longer needed any more convincing of the Truth of God's revealed written Word after running from God in defiance and rebellion for most of my adult life. That would have been about thirty years at the time, since I was almost fifty then... Another friend of mine from a different fellowship had given me a Bible for my 42nd birthday... she was thrilled to attend my baptism, and told them to hold me down a long time because I had so much to wash away. LOL. Fond memories. What an adventure. Will you be testifying at your baptism? I was surprised how many people attended the baptisms. There were about six of us I think who got baptized at the end of that Alpha Course. I have a CD of the testimony I gave as I stood in the baptismal fount. I should pull it out and listen to it. God bless you and your family, Jacko!!!

1) Rick Warren

need two more...
Maby you should follow Jesus, but not man.
Non of those Pastors is 100 % correct in their teachings. Even when they are sound speakers. You have to measure them with the word of God.
But I fear, that many listeners following those which are talking what they like to hear.

Ephesians 2:1-3 You were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. All of us also lived among them at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.

Ephesians 2:4-7 ~ Because of His great love for us, God, Who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. :)

what's wrong with Rick Warren?
I can see how people like his teaching. He's usually right on human dynamics and basic applications from the times I've listened to him. My former church library had all his books. It was an Andy Stanley based megachurch.

He was one of the first to popularize the >Deconstruction Movement (of Christianity). He was a friend of the world and misled people to reject good churches in order to build a worldly megachurch.
He also preaches a false gospel, so he's sending people to hell rather than saving them. It's not. always obvious unless you listen closely to his presentations to get saved.
See Galatians ch. 1

Rick Warren’s view on salvation is deeply rooted in traditional evangelical Christian belief, centered on faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Here’s a summary of what he teaches:

1. Salvation by Grace through Faith

Rick Warren affirms the core biblical doctrine that:

We are saved by God’s grace—not by our own efforts—through faith in Jesus.

He bases this on verses like:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works…” (Ephesians 2:8–9)

2. Jesus is the Only Way

Warren clearly teaches that Jesus is the only way to God:

“Jesus said, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)
He upholds that there is no salvation apart from Christ.

3. Repentance and Surrender

He emphasizes that salvation involves:
• Turning from sin (repentance)
• Trusting in Jesus alone for forgiveness
• Surrendering your life to God’s purposes

From The Purpose Driven Life:

“You were made by God and for God—and until you understand that, life will never make sense.”

4. Assurance of Salvation

Warren teaches that salvation is secure in Christ, and believers can have confidence—not because of their perfection, but because of Jesus’ finished work.

5. Not Just a Ticket to Heaven

He also teaches that salvation is not just about eternity, but about living a transformed life now:

“God is more interested in your character than your comfort. He’s more interested in making your life holy than he is in making your life happy.”

In Short:

Rick Warren’s message of salvation is:
• Biblical
• Christ-centered
• Focused on grace
• About transformation now and eternal life later

I watched a couple of his sermons, but something didn't feel right. Derek's way of teaching is so very different from Billy Graham who is my go-to online pastor

Deconstructing from
Who? After all Luther deconstructed from Rome…
Is he Lutheran?
He claimed to be Baptist in doctrine, but then agreed with Calvinist theology when Interviewed by a Calvinist.
His works based doctrine on salvation is divorced from the grace centered evangelical fundamentals.
You listed those bullet points under salvation. That's the main reason I reject his teaching.

5. Not Just a Ticket to Heaven

He also teaches that salvation is not just about eternity, but about living a transformed life now:

That is a traditional view that the Pharisees taught; However it is couched in modern terminology to include Jesus into their false works based plan of salvation.
Jesus rebuked them more than the others because they misrepresented His Word. What they pushed was living that transformed life.
What they required was obedience to the law aka also known as "turning from sins."

This is opposed to trusting Jesus alone for forgiveness.
The repenting of sins is a lot of works.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son....

NOT that
"Surrendering your life to God’s purposes and live a transformed life."

Those are works that make up a false gospel, see?

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us.".
Titus 3:5

When I accepted Jesus by faith in Him, I rejected the works of such TV preachers, RC priests who influenced me in my upbringing. That was the correct Biblical change of mind, aka Repentance.

True faith will always turn from sin and towards Christ.
I mean, if your faith is real, they’ll always be fruit. Fake faith or belief = no fruit.

I turn from sins daily as a believer in Christ. It's not so I can maintain salvation, but rather to maintain fellowship, staying on speaking terms with the Lord.

When I was lost, I didn't need to commit any special sins to be condemned. I was already condemned. I did Not promise to obey the laws aka turn from sins in order to be saved. I was condemned already.

John3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
