So we have a thread going about purchase regrets -- let's flip to the other side of the coin! 🪙

I always say that certain members of my family treat saving money like an Olympic sport. Family events often feel like people are trying to top each other with Tall Tales of Who Got the Better Bargain:

"I got this on sale!"

"Oh yeah? Well I got this on sale, with a coupon, buy one get one free, with rewards points, and on a cashback card!"

The current reigning Family Savings Champion found our Easter dinner ham that fed the whole family -- with enough leftover for a nice lunch -- for $6!!! Even I, in all my chintziness, simply cannot compete with that!!

* What are some latest and greatest bargains you've found? And what have been your best-ever greatest hits?

* Where do you usually go looking for good prices? (A favorite store, thrift stores, yard sales, church sales, etc.)

* What are your best tips for finding a good deal?

* What are some things that, even though they were discounted, you thought were too expensive -- then later kicked yourself for not buying?

We've talked about the things we wish we wouldn't have bought -- now let's talk about the things we got for a steal -- or load up on whenever it's a really good price!

After thought: I used to know a youth group leader who called Buy One Get One Free deals Buy One Give One instead. She'd keep one for her family and then donate the other to a food pantry. I need to remember this for myself, though I don't shop much at stores that have run these deals, because their regular prices tend to more than what my wallet agrees with.

We go to 'OfferUp' first when we want something. We've been blest with a 2 door automatic ice cube making fridge for $50. I thought why in the world would they sell that for $50??? Well the funny thing is every so often it drops the ice cubes into the container and makes a loud noise. My dogs used to bark at it, but by now we're all used to it, lol. I also got a like-new microwave for $15 and a free couch in good condition. Thank You Lord!😊🙌

When my kiddos were cute little (I have 3) and people used to make comments when we were shopping "Oh! What isle did you find them on?" we'd tell them "Oh it's a buy 1 get 2 free deal!"...

The first Black Friday as a new Mom I was out shopping and Toys R US was still around. They had an amazing sale on the classic preschool games in store, and then some of the games had coupons on the packaging, and then on top of it rebates. I ended up getting TONS of games (like don't break the ice, ice don't spill the beans) for a dollar or less, most FREE after the rebate. I'm thinking that's the best deal I've ever found.

I remember one day about 5 years ago when I decided to go to the auction house. Hadn't been to the auction in years, but I just happened to think about it and decided to pop down and see what was going on.

They had a hospital bedside table on wheels up for auction, and I got it for eight bucks.

I assembled that thing, stood it up right, stared at it and wondered why in the world did I buy this thing?

I purchased 3 or 4 cases. That investment has outpaced the stock market as well as outpaced gold! I still have a case or so left which should last the rest of my life since the winds in my new home of Wyoming make it difficult for mosquitos to be a bother. Have you priced a spray can of mosquito repellant with a high content of deet lately? That fortunate purchase has made me a wealthy man, in deet, anyway!

If I sold a whole case for $1, my good deal won't have been quite as good... I still use it sometimes on fishing trips... just in case a mosquito targets me while I'm reeling in a fish.

My jeans were likely $200 or more new but I paid $8. My favorite pj bottoms cost me under $5 but were around $100 new.

Yes me too , I don't usually buy clothes from second hand / charity shops , because I rarely buy clothes at all but I've had some awesome bargains . I bought a silver ring with a huge peridot stone in it for £2 ! Also a silver ring with a blue topaz stone for £4 and a silver ring with a small peach morganite stone in it for £2 . I've also bought lots of antique drinking glasses for literally pennies , none of these things r worth a fortune but they r worth way more than I paid for them . One of my favourite things was a book called ' Conan's Brethren ' by Robert E Howard , I love those stories and Robert E Howard is an awesome writer , it cost me £1 . We also get loads of lovely antique furniture in these shops in the U.K. but I live in a small apartment so I can't buy any of it 😞 I'm glad I'm not very rich because I would b an awful hoarder ! I feel rich but that's nothing to do with money 😜 .

I don't do much shopping, but when I need something I usually go to the nearby thrift store. I've been going there since I was a young child. I have a nice chat with the ladies that volunteer there, their proceeds go to help against human trafficking.

Anyway, I've gotten a lot of bargains there. One of the ones that comes to mind is a Christian Dior sweater I got there for $2, in excellent condition.
