You argue against yourself. To keep the law we need the Spirit, thereby working obedience in us.
Like most who emphasize the keeping of the law, you do not recognize that it is the Spirit that enables obedience, and not the will of men. Keeping the law outwardly may separate men from men, but as we know from Matthew 7:21-23, it does not separate them unto God.
But regardless of what I say, you will find preeminence in the law, and not in Christ. Again thanks for the discussion. Grace and peace.

No, it's about why are we eating a way that the rest of humanity is not. Or why are we doing to others in a certain way that the rest of humanity is not doing. It's not about that we can't do it but about what is the reason why we are learning it. Because it has a meaning beyond what we are doing. For one, it's doing something the rest of the world isn't doing.
Look at Christians. They are also separated from the world and living in a way unlike the world is living because we are different than the world when we are part of God.

Heaven and earth have not literally passed away, but the old order and power structure has. After the cross, heaven is purged of sin, and a king has been seated at the right hand of God who is able to open the scrolls. In Revelation we find this king possessing two new keys: death and hell. Who held these keys previously? A hint is found in Jesus' answer to Peter: upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
The language of Matthew 5:19 is de-creation language and not meant to be taken literally. Rather, it is language which supports a new creation that destroys the old creation or created order. All part of Jesus destroying the works of the devil that Jesus promised. The cross was the bruising of the head of the serpent. History has been witnessing his impotence in halting the growth of the church ever since.
