"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats..." (1st Timothy 4:1-3)

Matthew 15:9, "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
Good post. Jesus gave us the meaning and purpose of the law concerning swine. Those who follow the New Testament hear the teaching of Jesus Christ. And those who follow after the Old Testament ought to consider the teaching in Proverbs of the swine concerning a beautiful woman who does not carefully consider the word of God. This alone should be sufficient for those who say they do that law. I do not judge those who do not eat the flesh of pork or any other type of meat. That is their God given choice. But those who misinterpret the law, I give witness to the things Jesus teaches us. There is no law that keeps us from eating the flesh of swine. Some Christian religions teach that the law was given because of a disease if not cooked properly. This has nothing at all to do with the swine unless all meats, eggs and fish are included in that assumption. There is a specific reason for the teaching of the swine and the law. It has to do with a nature that can be found in men. The parable of not casting pearls before swine because they will trample the pearls underfoot; is revealed latter in the New Testament concerning those who have received the gift of salvation, and then returning to the law as some command, is like trampling the Son of God underfoot! If these things are not carefully considered after the witness was given, than these will remain under the law and apart from Christ.

Zone did not say she does not eat certain meats because of law. Zone spoke of this as a choice. There is no law against that.

All of law and words of the prophets were given in creation language, to teach us the things which cannot be seen. Concerning casting pearls before swine, I have given witness using New Testament creation language to reveal what cannot be seen (trampling the Son of God underfoot).

In the Apocrypha I mainly read Esdra and Maccabees because I know those two books to be true. But in 2 Maccabees 6 it talks about a man named Eleazar who I believe to be Aaron's son. The Greeks tried to force the Jews to eat "PORK" but he refused and he was tortured to death, yet we eat the food prophets were killed for, for not eating.
2 Maccabees 6:18"There was an elderly and highly respected teacher of the Law by the name of Eleazar, whose mouth was being forced open to make him eat pork. 19 But he preferred an honorable death rather than a life of disgrace. So he spit out the meat and went willingly to the place of torture, showing how people should have courage to refuse unclean food, even if it costs them their lives. 21 Those in charge of the sacrifice had been friends of Eleazar for a long time, and because of this friendship they told him privately to bring meat that was lawful for him to eat. He need only pretend to eat the pork, they said, and in this way he would not be put to death. 23 But Eleazar made a decision worthy of his gray hair and advanced age. All his life he had lived in perfect obedience to God's holy laws, so he replied, "Kill me, here and now. 24 Such deception is not worthy of a man of my years. Many young people would think that I had denied my faith after I was ninety years old. 25 If I pretended to eat this meat, just to live a little while longer, it would bring shame and disgrace on me and lead many young people astray. 26 For the present I might be able to escape what you could do to me, but whether I live or die, I cannot escape Almighty God. 27 If I die bravely now, it will show that I deserved my long life. 28 It will also set a good example of the way young people should be willing and glad to die for our sacred and respected laws." As soon as he said these things, he went off to be tortured, 29 and the very people who had treated him kindly a few minutes before, now turned against him, because they thought he had spoken like a madman. 30 When they had beaten him almost to the point of death, he groaned and said, "The Lord possesses all holy knowledge. He knows I could have escaped these terrible sufferings and death, yet he also knows that I gladly suffer these things, because I fear him." 31 So Eleazar died. But his courageous death was remembered as a glorious example, not only by young people, but by the entire nation as well."

And even other people were killed for not eating pork, very horribly. I actually found this very hard to read.

2 Maccabees 7"1 On another occasion a Jewish mother and her seven sons were arrested. The king was having them beaten to force them to eat pork. 2 Then one of the young men said, "What do you hope to gain by doing this? We would rather die than abandon the traditions of our ancestors." 3 This made the king so furious that he gave orders for huge pans and kettles to be heated red hot, 4 and it was done immediately. Then he told his men to cut off the tongue of the one who had spoken and to scalp him and chop off his hands and feet, while his mother and six brothers looked on. 5 After the young man had been reduced to a helpless mass of breathing flesh, the king gave orders for him to be carried over and thrown into one of the pans. As a cloud of smoke streamed up from the pan, the brothers and their mother encouraged one another to die bravely, saying, 6 "The Lord God is looking on and understands our suffering. Moses made this clear when he wrote a song condemning those who had abandoned the Lord. He said, "The Lord will have mercy on those who serve him.' " 7 After the first brother had died in this way, the soldiers started amusing themselves with the second one by tearing the hair and skin from his head. Then they asked him, "Now will you eat this pork, or do you want us to chop off your hands and feet one by one?" 8 He replied in his native language, "I will never eat it!" So the soldiers tortured him, just as they had the first one, 9 but with his dying breath he cried out to the king, "You butcher! You may kill us, but the King of the universe will raise us from the dead and give us eternal life, because we have obeyed his laws." 10 The soldiers began entertaining themselves with the third brother. When he was ordered to stick out his tongue, he quickly did so. Then he bravely held out his hands 11 and courageously said, "God gave these to me. But his laws mean more to me than my hands, and I know God will give them back to me again." 12 The king and those with him were amazed at his courage and at his willingness to suffer. 13 After he had died, the soldiers tortured the fourth one in the same cruel way, 14 but his final words were, "I am glad to die at your hands, because we have the assurance that God will raise us from death. But there will be no resurrection to life for you, Antiochus!" 15 When the soldiers took the fifth boy and began torturing him, 16 he looked the king squarely in the eye and said, "You have the power to do whatever you want with us, even though you also are mortal. But do not think that God has abandoned our people. 17 Just wait. God will use his great power to torture you and your descendants." 18 Then the soldiers took the sixth boy, and just before he died he said, "Make no mistake. We are suffering what we deserve, because we have sinned against our God. That's why all these terrible things are happening to us. 19 But don't think for a minute that you will avoid being punished for fighting against God." 20 The mother was the most amazing one of them all, and she deserves a special place in our memory. Although she saw her seven sons die in a single day, she endured it with great courage because she trusted in the Lord. 21 She combined womanly emotion with manly courage and spoke words of encouragement to each of her sons in their native language. 22 "I do not know how your life began in my womb," she would say, "I was not the one who gave you life and breath and put together each part of your body. 23 It was God who did it, God who created the universe, the human race, and all that exists. He is merciful and he will give you back life and breath again, because you love his laws more than you love yourself." 24 Antiochus was sure that the mother was making fun of him, so he did his best to convince her youngest son to abandon the traditions of his ancestors. He promised not only to make the boy rich and famous, but to place him in a position of authority and to give him the title "Friend of the King." 25 But the boy paid no attention to him, so Antiochus tried to persuade the boy's mother to talk him into saving his life, 26 and after much persuasion she agreed to do so. 27 Leaning over her son, she fooled the cruel tyrant by saying in her native language, "My son, have pity on me. Remember that I carried you in my womb for nine months and nursed you for three years. I have taken care of you and looked after all your needs up to the present day. 28 So I urge you, my child, to look at the sky and the earth. Consider everything you see there, and realize that God made it all from nothing, just as he made the human race. 29 Don't be afraid of this butcher. Give up your life willingly and prove yourself worthy of your brothers, so that by God's mercy I may receive you back with them at the resurrection." 30 Before she could finish speaking, the boy said, "King Antiochus, what are you waiting for? I refuse to obey your orders. I only obey the commands in the Law which Moses gave to our ancestors. 31 You have thought up all kinds of cruel things to do to our people, but you won't escape the punishment that God has in store for you. 32 It is true that our living Lord is angry with us and is making us suffer because of our sins, in order to correct and discipline us. But this will last only a short while, for we are still his servants, and he will forgive us. 34 But you are the cruelest and most disgusting thing that ever lived. So don't fool yourself with illusions of greatness while you punish God's people. 35 There is no way for you to escape punishment at the hands of the almighty and all-seeing God. 36 My brothers suffered briefly because of our faithfulness to God's covenant, but now they have entered eternal life. But you will fall under God's judgment and be punished as you deserve for your arrogance. 37 I now give up my body and my life for the laws of our ancestors, just as my brothers did. But I also beg God to show mercy to his people quickly and to torture you until you are forced to acknowledge that he alone is God. 38 May my brothers and I be the last to suffer the anger of Almighty God, which he has justly brought upon our entire nation." 39 These words of ridicule made Antiochus so furious that he had the boy tortured even more cruelly than his brothers. 40 And so the boy died, with absolute trust in the Lord, never unfaithful for a minute. 41 Last of all, the mother was put to death. 42 But I have said enough about the Jews being tortured and being forced to eat the intestines of sacrificial animals."

Pork is a VERY vile and filthy beast, I don't see how you all can eat it, seeing how people were miserably tortured for not even touching it. At least do it in honor of the people who died for not eating it. A pig is no different than a vulture, if not worse.

Peter was a Jew; God said to him , concerning the vision, "What I have made clean, no man shall call unclean"

Those who God has made clean are of His people. Jesus said of those who follow Him that there IS NO DIFFERENCE, JEW OR GENTIL, SLAVE OR FREE, MAN OR WOMAN. We are all the same in Christ. If a person teaches that their is a difference, if that person will not be corrected with the Word, than the Word is not in that person.

What does that mean? ..show me where Christ or any of his followers eate unclean. All the veses you use to support a hippy lifestyle are taken out of context, Noah knew what clean and unclean were so it goes all the way back. Let me guess you don't think we should keep the 10 commandments either?

This was about food. Undeniable.

Where are Christians told that dog, cat, rats, and cockroaches are unclean for them to eat?
The creation language given in Peter's vision was (and is) about the law of unclean things; And

At the same time Gentiles were sent to Peter. Peter considered the law and said that these were unclean to him.

Our Lord gave the law of creatures and lowered them to Peter; There were considered unclean to him.

Our Lord sent Gentiles to Peter at the same time. Peter said that these were unclean to him.

Our Lord spoke and said, What I have made clean, no man shall call unclean.

These various natures of unclean creatures could/can be found in men. While they remain in that condition of sin found in them, the Word of our Lord is sent to slay the creature.

I will give an example concerning the Christian fish; It is not until a man is slain by the Word of God that he then becomes food for many.

This is why is was/is spoken, "Rise Peter, kill and eat" And these people who were once considered unclean, began to prophecy, speaking the hidden things of God.

Not only the Catholics; there are many Christian religions that have not personally considered all the language given in Peter's vision; because they do not know what a vision is, and what it does for a man.

Earlier there is some contention over the teaching of the law concerning the swine; which is also part of this witness I am giving concerning Peter's vision. Those who think according to law, cannot see what is hidden from them.

But making clean the discernment of your walk will make all of you clean....

If you live by the understandings of the flesh, you are still unaware these speak of greater (eternal) things.

what kind of meat do Ravens eat?

1 Kings 17

1 And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.”
2 Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 3 “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. 4 And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”

Maccabee's is not in the protestant Bible by the way...
5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. 7 And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

Deut 14
(19) And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

Locust crawl and fly yet John the Baptist ate them.

Matthew 3:4
Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

Ananda,

Lev 11:22
Of them you may eat: the locust of any kind, the bald locust of any kind, the cricket of any kind, and the grasshopper of any kind.

The Baptist, was a nazzerite. Compeltely followed the STRICTEST of dietary LAW. it was PRE Cross, so it was OT...so, yes John the baptist ATE locust. It was allowed. Some, i have read, say that John ate the fruit of the LOCUST tree(which they called locust) and that John was a strict vegetarian...i doubt that though, and dissagree.

So that was just some info, i thought you would find it interesting, and it wasnt really to argue. :) :) :)

Now about the LAW.

Noah in chapter 8 of Genesis Sacrificed Clean and unclean animals. that were on the ARC. Noah had allready been told what was clean and unclean...this was before mosaic law.

Gen 8:20
Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it

HOWEVER, later, in chapter 9

Genesis 9:2-3
The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

EVERYTHING that moves was NOW food. GOD made ALL thigns clean, why? because mans heart was clean, so nothing condemned him. NOAH was a picture of Righteousness IN Christ.

JESUS ended the LAW.

We are back to the righteousness of noah IF indeed we have entered the arc.

SO can One eat a pig? YES ALL is food for us, if taken in thanksgiving.

You can eat a Monkey if you REALLY want to...though i wouldnt advise it. (poor monkey...)

I dont think the LIFE blood thing is nulled though. Thats somthing God was ALWAYS was against. We are to drink JESUS blood(one of the many reaons why CHRIST is a stumbling block to the JEWS) but i still don't know if having life blood (raw meat) is somthing God would bless... Anyone have any veiws on that?

Life Blood, is that still something we should abstain from? i prefer my meat well done anyway, but thoughts?

Thanks Zone Amen, it is about looking after God's property. Our health affects our spiritual life. In the animal kingdom those who eat meat are very aggresive those who don't are not. Even the meat we can eat has to be cooked so no blood is left. If an animal has a sickness or disease we will get it by eating meat with the blood

ok ..first of no need to take it personal.. im attacking your views not you..im sure youre a nice guy and all the rest

second why shouldnt you wash your feet.. 'those that are filthy let them be filthy still' somewhere in revelation
God does not just live in your head and your understanding He is interested in all your ways 'you should present your body a living sacrefice this is your resanable service' even the little things actually especially the little things 'he that is faithful in little is also in much'

as it has been pointed out the Peter's example was about the geniles not to be thought of as unclean.

..should we be able to drink blood?

But making clean the discernment of your walk will make all of you clean....
Can you please explain what you mean by this.
If you live by the understandings of the flesh, you are still unaware these speak of greater (eternal) things.
and this one ..are you a prophet should we drop the bible and listen to your understanding and discernment now?

@Musk it has been pointed out Jesus is talking about cermonial washing of hands there ..he is not saying eat whatever pops into your head and you'll be fine...think that through while some things defile others can kill.

In Daniel chapter 1 the issue of appetite came up Daniel and his companions requested a vegetarian diet they would not eat unclean food and what was the result of this?
Daniel 1:12-15
(12) Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
(13) Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
(14) So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
(15) And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.

So is the same true today are people healthier by having a vegetarian diet? The answer is yes, so what does the new testament say.
1 Corinthians 10:31
(31) Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
3 John 1:2

(2) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

What was the result of Daniel and his companions honouring God through appetite?
Daniel 1:17
(17) As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

It is also interesting to note that Adam & Eve fell in the area of appetite Jesus 1st temptation was in the area of appetite and Daniel 1 the 1st temptation is in the area of appetite, that is not a coincidence, there are no coincidences in the Bible.

Adam & Eve eating the fruit was not the sin but disobedience to the word of God, it lead them to disobedience, if Daniel and his companions had failed they would have failed in other areas as well.
Genesis 3:6
(6) And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

ok ..first of no need to take it personal.. im attacking your views not you..im sure youre a nice guy and all the rest

second why shouldnt you wash your feet..

Can you please explain what you mean by this.
and this one ..are you a prophet should we drop the bible and listen to your understanding and discernment now?

@Musk it has been pointed out Jesus is talking about cermonial washing of hands there ..he is not saying eat whatever pops into your head and you'll be fine...think that through while some things defile others can kill.
Your missing the point Jack and BTW The apostles could eat or drink anything and it would not harm them and your referrence of washing of hands is in err as well.
What it means is "if you can't say anything good say NOTHING. Your words are what convict you of sin if we boast or curse these things convict us THIS is the true meaning of the phrase read your bible more perhaps?

The above quoted scripture were pertaining to the gentiles which Peter was reforming in Christ
That is why God said Arise Peter slay and eat it was a metaphor pertaining to Peters own reluctance to bring gentiles into the church not food itself!
Well, please allow me to take this one more step...

It is not until a person's CREATURE nature is slain by the Word of God and tried by fire(Spirit), that a person becomes food for others. When these men heard the things Peter had to say, they immediately began to prophecy concerning the hidden things of God. It is God's wisdom which becomes food for many; and this is the reason Peter was told to "Rise, kill and eat"

I am agreeing 100% with the way you worded your statement. Unclean creatures each have a nature which can be found in men. So to not understand the law concerning men like beasts, is to deny one's own sinful nature. Food in this teaching comes from those whom the Spirit is given.
