We do have no way of knowing, I agree 100%. If I was to guess since he was a theif I would say no. But that part does not matter.
According to HIS word if he was baptized he would have the need to be rebaptized. Acts 19.
The thief is explained easy, I just like to ask questions to make people open their bible and look for themselves.
We need to rightly divide the word, which I know YOU know lol.
When the thief on the cross died, he died OT laws. Where people had to take a sacrifice to the high priests ones a year to have their sins forgiven GOD RULES.
JESUS is our high priest and he became our sacrifice our lamb.
When JESUS was on this earth and forgave sins as he wished like the thief.
JESUS preach app 3 years, died on the cross, buried and rose again. Then he ascended to Heaven to put his blood on the mercy seat.
Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
He then returned to earth and was here app 40 days and ascended again commanding his disciples to wait because they will be filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:4-5
He ascended the second time and this was the first message of how to be reborn.
Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Since then until he returns again, we live in NT laws and how to be saved we need to repent, get baptized in JESUS name to get rid of our sins and receive the Holy Ghost like JESUS gave his disciples in Acts 2:4.

AMEN, so clear often I wonder if GOD has shackles on their eyes for some reason that we may never know or PRIDE, the same reason Satan got kicked out of Heaven for.
One thing for sure they CAN NOT SEE, and as I have told some it make me think of John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot (((see))) the kingdom of God.

Trusting in works for salvation is not the will of the Father. Matthew 7:22 - Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you who practice lawlessness. Apart from the righteousness of God which is by faith (Romans 4:5-6) their sins remain. Hence, you who practice lawlessness. Instead of Lord, Lord, didn't WE, (look what WE did/salvation by works) the correct answer for these many people in Matthew 7:22 would have been Lord, Lord, didn't YOU die for our sins, were buried and rise again the third day to provide for us eternal life. We trust in YOU alone as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:8,9)
*So, what was the will of the Father that these many people failed to do? John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
Calling upon the name of the Lord to be saved = relying on the name of the Lord, trusting in Him for salvation. When one calls upon Jesus to save them, they are trusting in Him to come to their aid. Inherent in their calling upon the name of the Lord is the essential faith in Jesus Christ that He alone can and will save them. So, when we call on the name of the Lord, we by faith are trusting that He will provide for us eternal life.
Seeking salvation by water baptism is not calling on the name of the Lord. In regard to Acts 22:16, Jamison, Fausset, and Brown Commentary makes not of the importance of the Greek in Ananias' statement. When Ananias tells Paul to "arise, be baptized, wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord," the tense of the last command is literally "having called" (aorist middle participle). "Calling on [epikalesamenos] --- 'having (that is, after having) called on,' referring the confession of Christ which preceded baptism." [Jamison, Fausset, and Brown Commentary, vol. 3 pg. 160]. Kenneth Wuest picks up on this Greek nuance and translates the verse as follows: "And now, why are you delaying? Having arisen, be baptized and wash away your sins, having previously called upon His Name." (Acts 22:16, Wuest's Expanded NT).
Paul had already believed in Christ when Ananias came to pray for him to receive his sight (Acts 9:17). It also should be noted that Paul at the time when Ananias prayed for him to receive his sight, he was filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:17)--this was before he was water baptized (Acts 9:18). Verse 17 connects his being filled with the Spirit with the receiving of his sight. We know that he received his sight prior to his baptism.

Why would a Christian believe that water baptism is unimportant? I could not wait to get water baptized after my conversion when I received Christ through faith. Being an important act of obedience does not make it the means of our salvation. Is partaking of the Lord's supper important or unimportant? Is attending church important or unimportant? Yet neither are the basis nor means by which we obtain salvation either.
Wrong. Mark 16:16 is composed of two basic statements. 1—He who believes and is baptized will be saved. 2 He who does not believe will be condemned. While this verse tells us something about believers who have been baptized (they will be saved), it does not say anything about believers who have not been baptized. In order for this verse to teach that baptism is absolutely necessary for salvation, a third statement would be necessary, “He who believes and is not baptized will be condemned” or “He who is not baptized will be condemned.” But, of course, neither of these statements is found in the verse.
If water baptism was absolutely necessary for salvation, then we would expect Jesus to mention it in the following verses. (3:15,16,18; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26) Yet what is the ONE requirement that Jesus mentions NINE different times in each of these complete statements *BELIEVES. *What happened to baptism? *Hermeneutics.
John 3:18 - He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who (is not water baptized? - NO) does not believe is condemned already, because he has not (been water baptized? - NO) because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
In Acts 2:38, "for the remission of sins" does not refer back to both clauses, "you all repent" and "each one of you be baptized," but refers only to the first. Peter is saying "repent unto the remission of your sins," the same as in Acts 3:19. The clause "each one of you be baptized" is parenthetical. This is exactly what Acts 3:19 teaches except that Peter omits the parenthesis.
*Also compare the fact that these Gentiles in Acts 10:45 received the gift of the Holy Spirit (compare with Acts 2:38 - the gift of the Holy Spirit) and this was BEFORE water baptism. (Acts 10:47)
In Acts 10:43 we read ..whoever believes in Him receives remission of sins. Again, these Gentiles received the gift of the Holy Spirit - Acts 10:45 - when they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ - Acts 11:17 - (compare with Acts 16:31 - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved) BEFORE water baptism - Acts 10:47. This is referred to as repentance unto life - Acts 11:18.
*So, the only logical conclusion when properly harmonizing scripture with scripture is that faith in Jesus Christ "implied in genuine repentance" (rather than water baptism) brings the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 13:38-39; 15:8,9; 16:31; 26:18). *Perfect Harmony*
This is where you get into trouble here by cherry picking this verse. You only read this part because it tells you what your itching ears want to hear so then you ignore the rest. In 1 Peter 3:21, Peter tells us that baptism now saves you, yet when Peter uses this phrase, he continues in the same sentence to explain exactly what he means by it. He said that baptism now saves you-not the removal of dirt from the flesh (that is, not as an outward, physical act which washes dirt from the body--that is not what saves you), "but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (that is, as an inward, spiritual transaction between God and the individual, a transaction that is symbolized by the outward ceremony of water baptism).
Just as the eight people in the ark were "saved THROUGH water" as they were IN THE ARK. They were not literally saved "by" the water. Hebrews 11:7 is clear on this point (..built an ARK for the SAVING of his household). *The context reveals that ONLY the righteous (Noah and his family) were DRY and therefore SAFE. In contrast, only the wicked in Noah's day came in contact with the water and they all perished.
So, by Peter saying, "not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience - through the resurrection of Jesus Christ," Peter guards against saving power to the physical ceremony in H20.
Water baptism is not unimportant, but it is still not the basis or means by which we obtain salvation. After seeing what God has said numerous times in scripture about salvation through belief/faith "apart from additions or modifications" (Luke 7:50; 8:12; John 1:12; 3:15,16,18,36; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26; Acts 4:4; 10:4; 10:43; 13:38-39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18; Romans 1:16; 3:24-28; 4:5-6, 9: 5:1; 10:4; 1 Corinthians 1:21; 15:1-4; Galatians 2:16; 3:6 14, 26; Ephesians 2:8,9; Philippians 3:9; 2 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 10:39; 1 John 5:4, 13 etc..) I don't understand how someone can say I also must be water baptized in order to be saved.
There are a handful of alleged proof texts that certain people use to try and prove that water baptism is absolutely required for salvation, yet after a careful examination of each of those texts in context will show that none of them prove that baptism is absolutely required for salvation, though they do prove that baptism was an assumed initiatory response to the gospel of salvation.
In other words, those texts prove only that baptism is regularly associated with conversion and salvation, rather than absolutely required for salvation. These Gentiles in Acts 10 received the gift of the Holy Spirit and were manifesting the spiritual gift of tongues from the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12) after believing the gospel but before being water baptized. (Acts 10:44-47)
Now baptism was not considered an "optional extra" for these Gentiles; it was a command (Acts 10:48) that they were expected to obey. However, it was not obedience to this command that saved them, but their believing in Christ for salvation. (Acts 10:43)
Numerous false religions and cults that promote salvation by works (including Roman Catholicism and Mormonism) teach that water baptism is absolutely necessary for salvation, which says it all for me.
Actually those who share the truth in love are far from vile divisive people. A willingness to share the truth rather than sugarcoat things is not easy considering the attacks that result. However, the attacks are worth it if just one person accepts the truth and receives the promises of God.

If you notice in the gospel it was the sinners who responded to Jesus listening to him because he was talking about forgivness of sins through faith in him . Those considering themselves righteous stayed back from Jesus and scoffed and gossiped but the sinners they came near to hear the message . Just saying the thief was likely one of those who listened because he’s asking Jesus about his kingdom . But his state of baptism is truly unknown which is why it’s not a good place to begin an argument of baptism isn’t needed.

not really those in acts 19 hadn’t heard Jesus preaching the gospel they only heard John preaching and hadn’t heard of the holy ghost . The thief however had heard Jesus preaching of the kingdom because he mentions it .
think about it none of Jesus original disciples got re baptized after pentocost they had already been baptized and had been baptizing in Jesus name. In acts 19 the issue was this part
“he said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

But they hadn’t been around to hear Jesus preaching of the kingdom and promise the holy ghost . If you haven’t heard that the Holy Ghost exists there’s no way to receive it by faith. They hadn’t heard Jesus preaching only John and were baptized not by Jesus disciples but by John
remember remission of sins relies on one’s faith in Christ that group hadn’t heard of faith in him notice paul explains that John was preaching faith in Christ that’s what they lacked.
note jesus disciples none were re baptized because they had listened to the gospel and heard of the holy ghost and so they received the promise just as those in acts 19 once they heard of Jesus and the Holy Ghost.
This is exactly why we are to believe and submit to water baptism in the very name of Jesus that our sins be remitted:

Yeah I think that before we begin trying to learn his word as it is , we sometimes have to forget what people told us or what we figured out before that and realize whatever we learn is right and we aren’t going to come up with a better version .
At least there was a point I had to forget what I thought I knew and begin learning what Jesus knows that’s so much better
yeah we have to hear the word first and be born of the spirit.

If we won’t hear Jesus preach the gospel we can never know anything about the kingdom of God. We need our mind renewed by the gospel

You have judged everyone who has not been water-baptized before they died in the hospital. Please don't play the victim now.
John 1, John 3, John 4, John 5 and John 6 tells us how

question while we are at it. How was everyone saved from adam until Christ?
As we know something's we can only guess on but those things are not life and death matters.
I believe in Acts 2:38 his disciples were a part of the 3 thousand that got baptized that day when souls that were added.
Can't prove it of course, I just feel it to be true.
I believe when Peter gave the Acts 2:38-39 message it was JESUS speaking through him and he didn't have a clue what he was saying.
The reason I think that is the depth of it.
But the English translation is misleading
Peter told everyone to repent (repent ye is says in the old english) for the gift of the spirit.
But he only told certain individuals (and let every one of YOU (singular) be baptized) to be baptized, on the account they received remission of sin.
and we know it is true, because it said those who believed were baptized.

What does the book of Acts say, IT'S HIS WORD do you have your own twist on it?
OT they got their sins washed away by OBEYING and taking an animal ones a year for the blood sacrifice.
