Hey Everyone,

We've been talking about "low-hanging fruit" in a few other threads, and this topic seems to be begging for a thread all of its own.

For anyone not familiar with this term in the context of dating, Google says:

Low-Hanging Fruit -- "someone who is relatively easy to romantically attract or pursue, often due to a lack of options or willingness to settle for less; this term refers to individuals who readily available and perhaps not the most desired partner." (It is also used in the work setting to describe "the easiest, most accessible goals or tasks within a larger project or set of objectives.")

Being curious about the thought of singles being compared to literal apples and oranges, I looked up a few references and can't help but share them here (many involve the workplace, but I think they're pretty applicable to dating, too.)

And so, dear singles, I want to ask all of you -- On the Tree of Dating, Where Are YOU Located??!

Here's a few diagrams to start with:

This grid might also be a handy reference when trying to decide:

I wish I could combine a poll with pictures included in each answer, but this is the best I can do within the limits of the system.

Since this topic is so much fun, I'm going to post a poll with visible answers -- it will be multiple choice and people will be able to see what everyone answered, but it's all in the name of a good laugh!

Once you've answered the poll, please come back and tell us WHY you chose the answers you did -- and be sure to tell us what other answers you would like to add to the poll!

I'm sure there's a place on The Tree of Dating for every single -- but as for me, I'll probably just be rolling downhill!

As if you all didn't know that from the thread ideas I come up with!

I'm really looking forward to reading everyone's answers! :D

I just wanted to add:

I might be low-hanging, rolling down a hill, or buried underground...

BUT,

I have a WONDERFUL PERSONALITY!!

And doesn't that count for something?!:geek::cool:

(If wondering, please see the "WONDERFUL PERSONALITY" thread for reference.) :geek:

I picked conflicting choices because while I might not be high on the scale based on society's gauge of attraction, I do have high standards when it comes to morals...don't listen to what anyone has spread around on here about me lol  (they aren't here anymore anyway)

I completely agree, CarriePie.

I have high standards in a couple of areas and have often been called a snob for it -- but part of the reason why I have them is because I tried to be "understanding" in the past, let my precautions slide -- and wound up losing years of my life to calamity because of it.

Sometimes standards are set not because we think we're better than anyone, but because it was actually a lot of destruction in our lives that finally led us to have them.

We're always taught to learn from our mistakes.

But a lot of people seem to get very upset when we actually try to put that in action.

My standards are high because my standard is the Christ, hard worker ....
However I am very aware I am a fat person (I know westerners avoid this word) so if you really you are a Christian, hard working and communicates well I overlook the rest.

so if you have Christ
I am on the ground. infact I have been there since 2016

I went with conflicting choices as well. I chose peanut for two reasons, 1) I'm definitely invisible and hidden underground, 2) I'm a little strange I suppose so a nut seemed fitting. But I also chose wings because there's a lot I'm not willing to compromise on like faith, morals, beliefs, values, and those really important matters which most people I've known don't share so I guess that makes me picky.

If by people you mean those people who were hoping you were low enough hanging fruit that they could take advantage of your good qualities, yeah they're always upset when you won't bow to their every whim. Getting insulted by them is well not high praise because they'll insult everyone, but still something to be commended for rather than upset about.

Great movie line from a victorian movie.

Guy 1 trying to excuse his mistresses bad behavior: but you know what women are like

Guy 2: I'm glad to say I'm completely ignorant of that kind of woman

As for me, I'm like the mexican jumping bean of fruit. People might assume I'm low hanging fruit but I jump out of their reach and get around just fine because of what's inside me ( which in my case isn't a worm).

QUESTION: "On a tree of dating where are you located"?
My poll answer: "Other- the poll won't allow for any more answers so I'll plant my own in my post"

Explanation: I better not be hanging ANYWHERE on that tree!...
I'm a fruit that's loooooooooong been picked.

:LOL: (Sorry @seoulsearch, it just popped in my head and I couldn't resist) :p

I have never bothered looking for romance because I like my life the way it is and I see no reason to mess with it.

Of course if I happen to meet a nice lady and we hit it off, that would be cool too. But I'm not going out of my way to try to find it.

So I guess that makes me fruit lying on the ground. Taking a nap.

 or did I fall off the tree and get picked up from the ground?
Well, either way I'm no where near that tree anymore.

We love having you here, GG!!

On a serious note -- I know you have A LOT on your plate.

When I write these threads, I'm actually thinking of people like YOU -- even though I know you're a devoted wife and most of us are singles -- because I know people like you are reading along.

And it's very encouraging to know that you don't write off all these antics as just silly, mindless fluff.

I know it APPEARS to be that way on the surface. But years ago, I saw an episode of a show where a group of people were traveling in a desert. They found an oasis out of nowhere, and basked in its splendor and abundance. But if anyone stayed over night, they were transformed into a hideous monster, so they were only meant to stop there for a rest and then move on.

I went through a time in my life where I felt like I was trying to constantly carry people. And God told me, "I want you to be like that oasis. Give people something that will act as a refreshing pick-me-up for their soul -- a smile, a laugh, a word of comfort. Be part of something that will give both you and others the strength to get through the day."

This what I'm striving for in my threads. I really do think of things like, "I know Godsgirl must have a million things going on today... This thread is going to sound ridiculous, but I hope this will help her get through the day" -- as I'm writing in answers to a poll.

YOU are a wonderful source of encouragement that keeps ME moving forward in my calling as well.

And for that, I sincerely thank you!

I'm going to have to remember that one if I do another version of this poll.

However, I'm wondering if maybe you have a little T. I. Double GG - RRRR on your family tree as well!

Thank you for this extremely kind and encouraging word, Elizabeth!

We are so glad to have you here!! (And I haven't forgotten that you said you'd like to sign up for The Singles Forum Baking Team!)

I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through such a difficult time. Knowing that these threads help people like you makes me want to keep working harder on new ideas.

How can we pray for you, dear sister?

If you don't want to give and specifics, which is completely understandable, give us some general things we can include in our prayers when we think of you. β€οΈπŸ™βœοΈ

Twilight Zone? Or, some other show?
