1) Being a faithful follower of Christ

2) Being an active, participating, member of MY church.

Is my church a "Christian" church or is it something else? My answer is that it's something else. To me, a Christian Church believes that the only requirement for salvation is to be a faithful follower of Christ.

What do you say?

John 3:16
Acts 16:31....saved!

It may take YEARS for believers to figure out how to be filled and walk in the Spirit.....All believers will be saved no matter how "far" they advance in His Grace and Knowledge.

Seems like a Christian church to me.

I'd say you are describing a cult.
What if I claim that one of the original apostles is my ancestor and that I alone inherited a special ability (that nobody else has) to not only interpret the scriptures but also to add to them on Jesus's behalf?

Does that sound even more cultish?

Did Jesus and the apostles teach that being a faithful follower of Christ leads to salvation or did they teach that membership in a church was also a condition of salvation?

His word teaches that BELIEVERS are saved......Many believers were downright excoriated for not following Christ. But they were ALWAYS considered brothers and sisters.

No they did not, which is why I said it sounds like a Christian church to me because most churches nowadays teach things like that at least all the ones I went to did

Are you wanting to start a church? or is this a hypothetical thing?
I'm not starting any churches. I already belong to Jesus's church, his body of faithful followers.

My hypothetical church mirrors the Catholic Church, which teaches that faith in Christ and being a member of the Catholic Church are the two conditions that must be met in order to obtain salvation.

First of all it's a bad idea from the get-go. We don't start congregations, Christ does. He's the Head, and the Holy Spirit is our leader. We just try to be faithful ministers as the Spirit and God's word guide us.

There are books inspired by God that teach what His churches are supposed to be. There are examples, descriptions and doctrines and offices.

The title of this thread describes "two tenents required for salvation are..."

Then the two that are listed are dangerously unbiblical.
They sound reasonable on the surface to some, but there's no sterner warnings against them in the Bible.

Galatians addresses these starting in chapter 1.

6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Just a small point: I think you might have meant "two tenets" rather than "two tenants". You had me wondering who the two tenants would be to who your hypothetical church would rent out property.

actually he did not say either

He said come to me you who are weary and he will give you rest.

He said believe in him,, Only through him can salvation be granted.

Then once your a child of God. He said he will sanctify you.

I agree with another poster. this would be a cult church

That word 'MY' is a bit troubling. Does your church also have a coffee and donut fellowship? I'm down with that but would definitely avoid the service or whatever constitutes church stuff.
