Obedience doesn't cleanse us from our sins. That requires the shed blood of Jesus Christ:

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1Jo 1:7 NKJV)
Jesus is the light. His blood is Him is it not?

Even if you say the blood of Jesus equals Jesus, that still doesn't show that we can cleanse ourselves from our sins by obedience, or that the law can cleanse us from our sins. (You wrote: "Obey them and they will cleanse you from your sins.") Only Jesus can cleanse people from their sins The law could not do that:

“2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” (Ro 8:2-4 NKJV)

I have noticed that Jesus is not your source of truth.

Is there something that I lack from the Bible, where I must seek other means of spiritual discovery?
When you want to understand a piece of art and what the artist is trying to communicate through it, is it enough to simply read descriptions of it and to know how to make statements describing the artwork? Is there a level of direct engagement with the artwork that goes beyond all the words written and spoken about it? Is there something I lack from writings and audio presentations on the artwork, where I must seek other means of discovery to understand it better and more fully? Like just sitting in its presence and using my senses to experience it directly?

Why would you want to take your mind from off the Lord?

The thing about Christian mysticism is that is greatly misunderstood, it is not about hidden knowledge nor is it about taking ones mind off of God or his word in fact it is the opposite ones mind heart and soul are indeed on him and his word but instead of just reading about him or having head knowldge of him one experiences him they contemplate deeply on himthey are not just reading about him they are in him they are worshipping him at his feet.

For a Christian mystic he is as real as you and I they act as if he is right there in front of them they speak and listen as if he is there physically not just some God in the heavens but here and now right in front of us

They soak in him they bask in him they don't just know him they experience him.
Without doing proper research one can so easily misunderstand what being a Christian mystic is the word alone is a red flag to people but do they go beyond that? do they do their own research to understand it? or do they just write it off without doing any research on it?
