I think water baptism is not something that we can use to remove sins that alone is the blood of Christ the power of water baptism is a declaration of us dying and Christ living in us. it is not that water baptism is to be removed or anything but it is symbolic at best yet Jesus said we must be born of water and spirit the two baptisms so it clearly has importance doesn't it?
do you see a conflict with this
“I think water baptism is not something that we can use to remove sins that alone is the blood of Christ”
And this ?
“Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and
ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For
the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even
as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
Acts 2:38-39 KJV
or do you suppose if i
believe this part about why Jesus shed his blood
“for
this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for
the remission of sins.”
Matthew 26:28 KJV
if I believe that does it then tell my to reject what he said baptism is for ? Or that baptism is something done in water ?
“Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
Acts 8:35-38 KJV
you see if I
didn’t believe this part
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
1 Corinthians 15:3
Then baptism in Jesus name for remission of sins would be completely meaningless to me .
But if I do believe that Jesus died for my sins then getting baptized in his name for remission of sins is what I would do knowing it’s what God said to do for remission of sins ……
At what point does me believing Jesus died for my sins , change everything he taught us who believe to do ? It’s actually meant to press us into action not keep us from it
baptism in jesus name for remission of sins is only of value to someone who hears and believes the gospel .
Another clear example is communion if I don’t believe Jesus gave his body and blood as an atonement for my soul communion doesn’t mean anything and so it’s an irrelevant ritual “ancient christians used to do “for no reason but really look what it actually does mean
to a believer
“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.”
1 Corinthians 11:23-30 KJV
Is this like baptism also ? Should we take communion to actually not mean what it says and have not the impact it says it has ?
Or should we hear and believe what Jesus and his apostles were teaching about these things in scriptire so we have faith and begin to act upon Gods word ?
notice that I one on the Bible ever says “ water baptism isn’t baptism “ they all were baptizing in water lol that’s why I keep showing those verses . Were Jesus apostles wrong to baptize people for remission of sins in water ? Or are we maybe wrong when we insist that’s not the correct baptism and not what it’s for ?
