"And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' " Matthew 25:8-9

"And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' " Matthew 25:8-9

Oil represents readiness with being intentional of the groom's return.

An oil seller could very well be those who help prepare and keep the lanterns full. Those who help edify, encourage, and uplift the body of Christ.

To not be ready is to show a disconnection in concern for the groom. The true bride will consistently have their lamps ready in anticipation of the Groom's return.

"And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' " Matthew 25:8-9
I would suggest those who sell are the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Isa 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsts, come to the waters, and he that has no money; come, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Act 8:22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
Act 8:23 For I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
Act 8:24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray to the Lord for me, that none of these things which you have spoken come upon me.

"And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' " Matthew 25:8-9

Thanks ResidentAlien, for your question. When a person is saved by the Lord, he is said to be bought with a price. The price is what Jesus paid for him or her at the cross. When a person is sold, it is sold into the slavery of sin. Buying and selling, then, is associated with the gospel. Just like PaulThomson mentioned in his latest comment: "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. " The invitation is for anyone who is thirsty for salvation. It cannot be bought with our own works and with the money that that generates. Rather, Jesus has done the work and the buying of our souls. We can be thankful and believe in him, trusting for what he has done. It seems that the unsaved virgins may not have truly received the gospel, whilst the saved ones did.

IMO it means no imminent return. All of those present would die (sleep) before he returned

Thinking of an imminent coming is the most foolish thing I could think of as are we not to have a gathering to meet the lord and is not the day called a blessed Day? And those who are alive to meet the Lord in the air/cloud?

The imminent represents a timing but not a specific one it has to do with how the bridegroom a bridegroom in jewish weddings comes when the father allows it until then the bridegroom and the bride knowing that the time is imminent have no clue when the father will say go and collect your bride they wait with watchfulness until then

This verse here says it is imminent
1 Thessalonians 5:2–3 (ESV)

“For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘There is peace and security,’ then sudden destruction will come upon them
now we could say this is the terrible day of the Lord where he comes in the clouds to judge the earth but some believe it represents the rapture

The feast of trumpets has been on my mind lately because it is either on the 23 or the 24th of september because no one actually knows the day and hour it begins
It depends on the moon cycle and Jesus referenced that no one will know the day or hour of his coming and he spoke this in the parable of the theif in the night as well

The coming like a thief in the night is spoken of twice in scripture first by Jesus then in the epistles so it clearly has importance of some kind and Jesus fulfilled the first three feast days in his first coming he has yet to fulfill four more and the feast of trumpets is one of them.

personally I believe the tribulation has to beegin before he comes for his bride

INO the Tribulation will begin this year on the Feast Trumpets.

Just as there was a delay till the Holy spirit came on Pentecost, there will be another delay leading up to when the reaping of the earth shall be Pentecost in 2009 on the 1335th day

Coming like a thief means to the world, not to his people. We are not in darkness that that day would come unawares like a thief in the night.
  • Passover, unleavened bread, firstfruits, pentecost - all fullfilled
  • Day of atonement - fulfillment began when Christ ascended to the throne of God with his blood, has continued for nearly 2000 years and will culminate when he comes out of the temple and sends the scapegoat beast and false prophet into the lake of fire
  • Day of trumpets and tabernacles - still to be fulfilled.

  • 1 Corinthians 15:52: This verse states that "at the last trump...the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed". The verse signifies a sudden transformation of believers into eternal bodies at the sound of the last trumpet when Christ returns.
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:16: This passage says, "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first". The passage describes Jesus' descent with a trumpet call leading to the resurrection of the dead in Christ.
Interpretations of the "last trumpet" may vary depending on views of the rapture's timing. However, the consistent message is that the trumpet's sound signals a major divine event and Christ's ultimate triumph.

note the last trump in this verse this is speaking of the trumpets at the feast of trumpets and is the only one that speaks of the final trumpets having to do with anything about Christs return

Every mention of the trumpets has to do with Jesus coming back not the tribulation
I do think the tribulation could very well happen this year but as for the feast day itself it says what it is for in scripture

yes but does that mean we will be able to know when the rapture is going to happen if we are not going to be caught unaware?

Well theoretically yes. He will return on the day of Trumpets, which should be the 7th trumpet. If one is discerning enough to know when the trumpets begin to sound, then it should be a fairly straightforward calculation.

Thank you finally someone gets it, now my question is can this happen at the end of the tribulation or before that?

I'm not much of a believer in something called the tribulation. Yes, there will be that, but I think it's more important to focus on the 1260 or so days from the 1st trumpet to the 7th trumpet. At least that's the way I see it. That will be a time of great tribulation, so to answer your question, after

Yeah I have been wondeering about the 1260 days some speculate that those days don't have to do with the tribulation at all but I don't know enough about those days to have a say in the matter

Well it begins I think with the first 4 trumpets, which are pretty bad, and then it says woe to those living on the earth for the next 3 trumpets. So I don"t know how they can say it won't be tribulation.

My understanding of the Last Trump/Trumpet is in regards to the 7th Trumpet as the Resurrection/Rapture happens at the reaping of the earth at Rev. 14:14. That moment in time between last Trumpet and the Vial/Bowl Judgements.

That moment is called:

Great and Terrible Day of the Lord
Great and Glorius Day of the Lord
