I don't blame the music industry for childrens actions, I blame the parents, it's not Lady Gaga's job to be teaching your kids anything, it's yours.

I suggest you checkout "They Sold Thier Souls for Rock and Roll" the root of most rock music goes straight back to ancient pagan practices as well. You can see a lot of free material at this website: Welcome To Good Fight Theater
That website is a joke.

I've watched most of their videos on bands and this is what they've done so far:

"Rammstein had the line 'You in the school yard, I'm ready to kill!' It's clearly about a school shooting and inspired Columbine!" No, it's a song they wrote to cast their own hate-filled view of the grotesque lifestyle of child rapists. Actual rape victims have been thanking them for writing this song, feeling it provides some justice to them by talking about something they are afraid to.

"Kidd Rock wears a devil on one of his vests. He's clearly promoting Satanism to today's youth!" Pull up a song, any song of his that is actually about Satanism, and then maybe I'll give you some credibility.

"The Backstreet Boys sing about sex and most of their fans are teens! They're promoting teen sex!" If they were their music wouldn't be allowed on the air and they'd be arrested for pedophilia. They're songs are always about no one specific, not blatantly directed at teens.

"Christina Aguelera was said to have 'a devil of an image.'" She also said she was a genie in a bottle... where is this bottle and can I get my wishes please?

"U2 did a cover of 'Helter Skelter' which Charles Manson used as his theme. They encourage his kind of evil!" Helter Skelter means disorderly and chaotic, and when the Beatles originally wrote it, it was to compete with The Who who had been gaining recognition for the wild rhythm of their music. Charles Manson, already insane as it is, listened to every single song on the white album and created his own translation for them, and because of that everyone takes only his translation of the songs, and not the actual one. Weren't we warned that someone else would twist the meanings and definitions of what God says in an attempt to deceive???

"The Eagles talk about demons in 'One of these Nights'! It's demonic!" The song is about procrastination. No seriously, it is.

"David Bowie said his inspiration came from Kabalah and Crowleyism! He promotes Satanism!" Well by that train of logic I could say a vegetarian promotes eating meat... sure they're completely different things but apparently that doesn't matter anymore because everything's the same.

"Little Richard (oh you've got to be kidding me, really?!) said that some Rock and Roll bands pray to the Devil. He clearly believes the Devil gave him his success!" So if I said some fat people have a gland problem that means I'm fat because I have one and not because I just have an unhealthy diet? Well that's a load off!

You know what this looks easy, I wanna play too!

"You Belong to the City." Like how Sodom and Gommorrah was a city?

"Cuts Like a Knife." Clearly advocating mass murder!

Track 5: "Evil Woman." Need I say more? Clearly promoting Jezebel!

"Jesus Freak." Clearly intended to mock Christianity by using an already derogatory name used to make fun of Christians...

...oh wait that was from a Christian band... well this is awkward...

You see what I mean? You put whatever spin you want on what someone says or sings and it can mean just about anything. If you want to make accusations, fine, but use actual arguments to back up what you say. Word twisting and extremism helps no one.

I'm single never married but I'll try to answer.

Simple questions:

1. What are your thoughts on today's female celebrities and how they affect young people?

Depends on the person. I think some are fine, some are questionable, and many are immoral lost souls that have no business holding themselves up as "role models" for young people.

2. Would/do you let your kids listen to/watch celebrities like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, etc.?

No. But then I wouldn't either.

3. Do you think the effect promiscuous "role models" have on young girls is just as bad on young boys?

Yes.

I posted this on the Ladies forum already, but I thought it would be interesting to get men's views on it too.

2. Would/do you let your kids listen to/watch celebrities like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, etc.?

3. Do you think the effect promiscuous "role models" have on young girls is just as bad on young boys?

My answer to question #1:
Its not just the female celebrities that are influencing young people in this day and ages, but its also the male celebrities, Some of their music may be provocative, and also, some of their clothing, but then again, many of them just do what they are paid to do! I think, that picking and choosing one particular artist, or one particular genre is the wrong way to approach this... Take for example Nickelback! They have some extremely provocative songs towards violence, but also have some good songs, towards positivity. So, I will answer the question with another question... Do we trust the youth of this generation to be able to distinguish right from wrong?

As for question #2:
Being a youth myself, I have an idea of what effect media has. Trying to stop your children hearing these inappropriate songs, its kind of like trying to stop a waterfall by doubling the waterflow. The media, the inappropriateness is everywhere. we cannot stop it, but we can teach our children what is right and what is wrong, and to not do so, then it is us who is at fault, and not the young people, for we are the ones who failed to teach our little ones what is right and what is wrong...
*queue song: Slow Fade - Casting Crowns*

Question #3:
Promiscuity has a bad influence all-round. It is an invitation for trouble. Unfortunately, guys are more vulnerable to the invitation than girls are. However, Young men are to blame there as well, as young men can be just as bad as young women in allowing themselves to draw the other gender in. I believe that for young men, the correct term is "Womanizing"

Ok, just thought about this: Whatever you sing about, you support!! If a girl sings about kissing a girl, they are representing and supporting people to be gay. If someone sings about getting so high/drunk someone has to TELL them what happened, they're representing and supporting underage drinking and drug use. They sing about promiscuity, they support it. Don't sing about something you don't believe in. Do you think a Christian artist would sing about getting drunk? Do you think a Christian artist would sing about doing wrong? No! Because they don't believe in it, or support it.

Um... no, they'd be supporting just general drinking and drug use.

Well, if I'm correct, Katy Perry did a song about a girl who was in high school and she was considered "Weird" because she had control of her life and all that and so one night she decided to lose control and just go crazy. Because she got so high/drunk, someone had to tell her what she did. (We discussed that song once in a Bible Study.) And, mostly teenagers listen to that stuff. So that's why I said "underage"

1. What are your thoughts on today's female celebrities and how they affect young people?

I believe there are some that really don't teach the right values, and some who teach modesty. Sadly, many people turn to the former and say "Well it isn't that bad". And yes, appearances are fast becoming the center of many lives and it's as dead as it will be :D

2. Would/do you let your kids listen to/watch celebrities like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, etc.?

Lady Gaga- of course no. I don't want to isolate my child, but I'll help him screen songs e.g. bad words, suggestive messages. And of course, introduce him to Christian songs. So glad that Christian songs nowadays can go neck-to-neck with pop songs today when it comes to catchiness

3. Do you think the effect promiscuous "role models" have on young girls is just as bad on young boys?

YES. It teaches boys that the most desirable woman nowadays is not the one who has values but has less value.

Okay when you put it that way then yes I agree, but you didn't. You said "If you write a song about getting so drunk/high someone had to tell you what you did last night, you support underage drinking and drug use." What you specified was just general substance abuse that could have been done by anyone of any age, you never mentioned the underage part. Hence my misunderstanding you.

It's very annoying how the media idolizes celebrities and some people seem to worship them for some stupid reason.

2. Would/do you let your kids listen to/watch celebrities like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, etc.?
If I have kids and they want to, I would let them. But if they started listening to that trash, I would feel that I failed as a parent.

3. Do you think the effect promiscuous "role models" have on young girls is just as bad on young boys?
I don't know what effects that **** will have on them but I can't imagine how any of them will be positive.

TO ANSWER ALL THREE QUESTIONS...

IT IS UP TO US AS PARENTS TO GUARD THE HEART AND MINDS AND SOULS OF OUR CHILDREN IN THEIR FORMATIVE YEARS... THERE ARE CERTAIN TV SHOWS, MOVIES AND MUSIC THAT ARE NOT ALLOWED IN MY HOME... I DON'T WATCH THEM & MY CHILDREN DON'T WATCH THEM... (MY HUSBAND HOWEVER IS ANOTHER STORY) BUT HE RESPECTS MY POSITION AND WON'T WATCH THEM WHEN THE CHILDREN ARE AROUND... MY 3 YR. OLD AND 6 YR. OLD WENT TO VISIT THEIR GRANDMOTHER AND THE SHOW FAMILY GUY CAME ON AND THEY SIMPLY TOLD HER THAT THEY WEREN'T ALLOWED TO WATCH THAT SHOW AT HOME AND THE TV WAS TURNED OFF AND THEY PLAYED A BOARD GAME... MY CHILDREN SEE ME PRAY, THEY SEE ME READING MY BIBLE, WE ARE THE FIRST INFLUENCES ON THEIR LIVES... WE ARE THEIR MORAL COMPASS UNTIL THEY ALLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT TAKE OVER...
