You still missed the word "pervert.". That's not unifying. That's divisive.

May I encourage everyone to ensure there is a clear antecedent for indefinite pronouns?
Because I am not sure what "that" refers to.

Anyway, my statement encourages everyone not to be judgmental, pejorative, argumentative, unforgiving, hateful, etc.,
and it appears that "that" is what you think is divisive! No, it is merely specifying what is meant by a call for unity and love!
And I would think that is what is meant by the admin's reminder to be civil.

You can try to spin that anyway you want, but it's divisive. I doubt you'll understand it this time either.

Oh “that” makes me think you don’t understand GRFS. I have shared my understanding many times so why don’t you go first with your explanation and we will see if I agree?

I'm just puzzled that you thought a post about unity was a good place to call other Christians' doctrinal beliefs perverted.

Well I have explained why I think tulip is perverted in post #96 so please comment on that and/or explain what you think the Christian creed should be. Thanks.

Aside from the issue at hand here at the very least the op message is something we should consider in our daily lives, and I know there has been some division even in this thread but as long as we take to heart the message of love and unity it still means a lot to me that everyone at least will take it to heart as I am sure we can all at least agree that the op is something to consider

Yes and don’t be discouraged, because although oneness takes two, I am willing so we are halfway there!

Wow, you just really didn't get it. Have a nice day.

And you don't get that saying "wow" does not help me get it,
but at least you are pleasant enough as you indicate a desire
not to communicate your beliefs regarding the question
of whether tulip contradicts or is compatible with the Christian creed,
and thus whether answering that question is divisive or unifying--
like it was pertaining to the Judaizers and Sabbatarians,
whom the CC administrators thought contradicted the Gospel.
Happy trails until we meet again.

There are limits though for reaching unity. At what cost are you willing to compromise what the Bible says with what they believe?

2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”

17 Therefore,
“Come out from them
and be separate
,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”

18 And,
“I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”

7 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

This is saying that if their doctrine doesn't line up with what the Bible says, you are to separate from them. It is actually a good thing that you don't unite with them in their false doctrine. Just know that your sticking to God and His word is the most important thing - not unity with people who believe in false doctrine.

Exactly and amen! I hope NightTwister is paying attention.
Unity must be based on the Gospel (kerygma), so the question
is whether tulip's gospel is orthodox or heresy. Thanks!

You shouldn't be referencing others in a comment not directed to them. That's trolling. It's looking to me like your purpose here is to cause strife.

I hope you're paying attention. We both believe the same gospel.

I doubt there is any problem with having three-way conversations on CC,
so it looks to me like YOUR purpose is to cause strife, which is ironic because
you posted this immediately after saying we believe the same gospel.
You just can't stand peace or what?

Now if we can only get the tulip crowd to affirm the same gospel,
and because I seem to be the only one on CC proposing a comprehensive creed,
I will post it again for any newcomers. BTW, I just added love to #4 per someone's suggestion/input.
As usual I have to apologize for the Scripture citations. One of these days I must get around to changing
the format on our website <truthseekersfellowship.com>.

The normative way of stating the kerygma/GRFS in the NT is “Accept Christ Jesus as Lord” (as in 2Cor. 4:5 & Col. 2:6).
The main points of Christian orthodoxy implicit in this statement can be explained or elaborated as follows:

  1. There is a/one all-loving and just Lord or God (DT 6:4, JN 3:16, 2THS 1:6), who is both able (2TM 1:12) and willing (1TM 2:3-4, EZK 33:11) to provide all morally accountable human beings salvation or heaven—a wonderful life full of love, joy and peace forever.
  2. Human beings are selfish or sinful (RM 3:23, 2TM 3:2-4, CL 3:5), miserable (GL 5:19-21), and hopeless (EPH 2:12) or hell-bound at the judgment (MT 23:33 & 25:46) when they reject God’s salvation (JN 3:18, RM 2:5-11).
  3. Jesus is God’s Messiah/Christ and incarnate Son, the way that God has chosen (JN 3:16, ACTS 16:30-31, PHP 2:9-11) of providing salvation by means of his atoning death on the cross for the payment of the penalty for the sins of humanity (RM 3:22-25 & 5:9-11), followed by his resurrection to reign in heaven (1CR 15:14-28).
  4. Thus, every person who hears the NT Gospel needs to repent and accept God’s justification in Jesus as Christ/Messiah the Lord or Supreme Commander (LK 2:11, JN 14:6, ACTS 16:31), which means trying to obey His commandment to love one another (MT 22:37-40, JN 13:35, RM 13:9)—forever (MT 10:22, PS 113:2).
  5. Then God’s Holy Spirit will establish a saving relationship with those who freely accept/love Him (RV 3:20) that will eventually achieve heaven when by means of persevering in learning Truth/God’s Word/sanctification everyone cooperates fully with His will (JN 14:6, 17&26, RM 8:6-17, GL 6:7-9, EPH 1:13-14, HB 10:36, 12:1, JM 1:2-4).

@NightTwister and @GWH Can we just drop it and move on? sometimes it is best to walk away from a conversation if it only causes problems it takes the bigger person to do so but it would be for the best.
We can discuss Tulip but if it just causes problems what is the point?

My intent/point was to witness to readers of this post how to work through misunderstanding about secondary issues lovingly
in order to achieve spiritual unity, but if you think tulipists do not share this goal, I will agree to stop trying on your thread. (Rom. 14:19)

I'm done. There's no point to continuing. Actually if I'd known how this was going to go I would never have started.

Well it isn't that it cannot be done it is just that it doesn't seem to be bringing unity. If there is a way to do it then if done correctly yes but do you see it moving anyone to understanding or do you see bickering?

I think if we start a thread about it then that would be a good place to do it and this is not a bad place to do it either but as far as I can tell it has only made discourse

I wish it could have gone differently but you saw the rsults this is a heavy topic to discuss and it tends to bring out the worst in us.
It certainly did not bring unity

The point I tried to make unsuccessfully was this wasn't the place for it. There are more than enough active discussions on this topic already. Oh well, lesson learned.
