Basically, yes. Taking his name in vain is calling one's self by his name, but not doing his will

The name of Jesus can be used as a swear word also.

Most don't use the name of Jesus in everyday speech because it is more powerful, than using "God".

Usually when you hear someone using the name of Jesus even boasting in that name.

You more than likely have encountered a strong Christian.

I was told
-------
I was told to warn them about being lukewarm warm

To explain to them what that means
------------

nothing more, nothing less.. I think you could have gathered that from my post. perhaps you choose not to?

I did my best to separate, and try to explain ( trying to explain what Lukewarm means to me).

but you do not believe me ( in what I understand), and this is engagement is leaving me depleted... not your fault,, totally mine for engaging with the ones that have issue with my words.

some have not...

I only ask you read carefully my words, and be fair, not making assumptions to things I have not said.
if you think I am a false proclaimer, that is fine,

you should feel sorry for me, and pray for me.

yet Suggesting people pray, as John Wesley advised, Read your Bible, and Sing unto the Lord, stay out of Egypt... .. you Are upset at this?

could this advise not work for someone, even if I was a false prophet, would this advice led someone astray?

I need to be done, I am feeling that this engagement has been a mistake... yet I will give you the last word, I ask you be fair, and do not use my words unfairly against me... yet the words I have choose, certainly you can disagree with them..
meaning I feel I am explaining things that had not needed explanation, and a smart one like yourself should have known this...there may have been enough there to address.

in peace and love, until that day with JESUS
I would just be careful in saying you had a direct word from him I am not sayingg you didn't as I agree the warning of being lukewarm is something to take into consideration but it makes you have the position of a prophet and prophets more than anyone are held accountable for speaking for God

If you are confident that you did recieve this word then you can only spread the message and if people do not believe you then you just move on trying to convince anyone is a fruitless endeavor but a word from God will never go against scripture and in fact scripture is to be used to test a supposed word from him so honestly if it doesn't have anything to do with scripture are you sure it was from him?

As I said before, your post was a very strong warning so your going to get kickback.

Many folk are from traditional churches and are not scripture only.

If they were scripture only then, they would simply accept the gifts and ministries, of the
Holy Spirit.

What you said in your post about, "lukewarm", was correct.

The Christian life as taught in the scripture is a deeply spiritual life but they have no
experience in that.

I was actually wondering if I should have just did what you suggested (proclaim without saying I had a Word from THE LORD), or say the message with the I had a Word From THE LORD.

I will pray on it certainly... in the end trying to be obedient, & hopefully not care what man thinks... it certainly is a narrow road, and little mistakes can leave me in the ditch... so to speak.

I do feel engagement in controversy in not my path, and appears to be ditch riding ( so to speak)

thanks for your thoughts, will ponder them

I think that the message was good it was just the way you worded it that was the issue. for instance people instantly get triggered when one says it was from the Lord directly so instead just give the message itself and let it do the work after that if it is from God it will never return void.
If it was not from God then it will do nothing. the only issue I have with the message is the part of praying for three hours a day, I have never heard God say that and I listen to him daily

Nit that it is not a good idea or anything but that part in particular did not reasonate with me the rest of the message was good though

thank you,,,, and I will be encouraged by your message, your words have given me some peace, and understanding, truly.

If I proclaim to have a Message from THE LORD, I certainly do not want any of me involved.

if I could give some advice that I am learning and hopefully I can adhere to........ is WHEN GOD Tells me something it is most serious not to obey.. and I am not talking about proclaiming the message here, just do's and don'ts in general... like to avoid certain entertainments...

what am I really saying, Christian Life is a serious life, and perhaps you know this better than me, for I do not know the walk you have are on..

all I am saying is, I would like to tell Christians to take our path seriously with JESUS, and hope and pray we understand this.

thanks again

until that day

in love & peace

I will pray on that as well, I certainly have told Christians this in the past, to pray three hours a day. maybe I will try to word this better.

I guess I was thinking of Daniel as well praying three times a day, although I was quoting John Wesley journal entry.

when I read that from John Wesley I found it very powerful, and was thinking how much less problems us Christian may have if we did pray three hours a day....

I would say brother, that GOD has stressed to me ( in good faith), to have a strong prayer life, although I sometimes fall short, ( falling asleep, or a serious lack of focus or concentration).

I have heard someone say GOD may/does have different calling for different children.. no argument here... I also feel strongly prayer is our food, and I want Christians to eat...

feed MY sheep JESUS says, I guess I was trying to do that!

hope I have not strayed from your encouraging words, that was not my intent here on this latest post.

truly in peace & love

You are fine and I think it is possible you are called to be a prayer warrior since that seems to reasonate with you so deeply, yes God calls us all to diofferent operations in his kingdom mine is to encourage and build up others though I do at times receive a word from him so perhaps my calling is also that of a prophet but I never considered myself to be one.

I think if you also have this calling of a prophet it would be wise to know his voice very well and luckily prayer is a key factor in that so you are on the right path.
But with that said I hope you flourish in your ministry and many blessings to you my friend

One actual physical look at Laodicea area and what the letter in Revelations says becomes clear.
And what the OP is saying is not congruent with what we know to be true.

1753832054417.jpeg

These are the "Hot" Springs bathing pools which are used medicinally.

Here's a map showing the snow melt river in Laodicea....
The water is "cold" and waters the farms downstream.
1753832246904.jpeg

So....
Here's a picture of the "Lukewarm" water pipes that were inside the city of Laodicea.
1753832433094.jpeg

The heavy mineral content of the water would make a person nauseous if they drank much.

The river was down below a steep bank in a valley but the city was higher up. So the only water to drink was coming out the pipes above. And the mineral baths? You can't drink that.

I think this is the correct line of inquiry. Laodicea's water didn't come from the hot mineral baths in Hieropolis to the north because its water was non-potable and the aqueducts in Laodicea come from the south. That water was also mineral laden, but potable.

So the contrast in Revelation seems to be between hot / cold water which was pleasing and useful for purpose (ie, medicinal baths and refreshing drinking water, respectively) and lukewarm water that possibly had an unpleasing taste (only good for survival). Lukewarmness is described as esteeming worldly riches above spiritual riches.

So Christ seems to be counseling them to repent of an attitude that made them unfit for his purpose. They esteemed themselves to be rich and sufficient (which they were because Laodicea was very rich), but didn't know that they were wretched and miserable and useless to God because by not recognizing their poverty they didn't invite him into their lives to heal their corrupted condition.

one parting thought, perhaps, for you if you get a Word

as we discussed, should one, or should one not say they
had a Word from the LORD, or just give the message.

As I thought on this, and prayed.... this is what I concluded
( and I am not saying this was a Word from the LORD)

on this side of heaven, it seems reasonable to just proclaim the message... however when I think of passing to the other side, on that day.. I imagine if I could truly see that day..

I would say let me return and I will proclaim from the rooftops.. I think on that day I will not be sorry for doing all I could ( while not drawing attention to myself of course, hopefully)

so in conclusion, I have learned some lessons, and perhaps things to avoid.

Perhaps I received some light verbal resistance, (haha) which is perhaps beneficial to me in the long run...

so once again I conclude ( for myself)

I think it best to say one received a WORD from THE LORD.
Let the ones that will hear hear, and the ones that will not hear, perhaps they are on the right path already, or will hear another way!

if not, it will give me more people to pray for.

Amazingly easy to understand isn't it? Just one quick look and "lukewarm" is understood to be more of a "manufactured" worship than worship that stems from a desperate state or joyful heart condition surrounding gratitude.

Word pictures of the visual world are the needed component to really understand what was said and why it was said the way it was said.
Which is what happens when you see....
Then they are impossible to not understand.

Being "hot" is good (healing)
Being "cold" is good (nourishing)
Being lukewarm is not good (manufactured)

interesting,

would you say that in order for people around the world, and thru out time would have to have access to this perhaps very limited information, to understand the Bible verse?

your studies are interesting and may keep you sharp... hope in your walk your not Luke warm... I can not hope for you to be cold, even after your conclusion.... but hot, I personally can hope for you, & pray for you

The church in Laodicea, to whom the message was addressed, certainly would have understood it. For all else it states in verse 17 what lukewarmness means in that particular context.

So because you are lukewarm, and not hot or cold, I am about to vomit you out of my mouth because you say I am rich and am enriched, and have no need. And you do not know that you are the miserable, and the pitiable, and poor, and blind, and naked. Revelation 3:16-17

Zealousness in and of itself is not necessarily a good thing. It has to be tempered with godly knowledge and understanding in order to be profitable. Sometimes being chill is appropriate.

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. Romans 10:1-3
Zeal
G2205 ζῆλος zelos (zee'-los) n.
1. (properly) heat.
2. (figuratively) zeal.
3. (favorably) fervency, ardor.

I like the zeal is hot... fits for being hot

that said, I can relate in another way, The LORD has shown me I
am very robotic ( as I understand ) in my zeal. Very Robotic so to speak in my worship...

and I am not even quite sure how to change this.... I am planning on trying to sing more.. thinking this is a possible way, to have that love connection more deeply.. this is my advice for me.

When I think of GODS Heavenly choir, it seems like a no brainer... plus I have been guided here, and have resisted much!

IMO conscious listening is a good practice in order to detach from the distractions of the mind, and singing goes along with listening.

This is broadly known information.
I am not anywhere near original....obviously as there are thousands of pictures existing online of these places, some with the detailed explanations and scriptures. All that is required is looking for yourself instead of listening to and believing uneducated pastors for the exegesis of this scripture.

(Pastors may not necessarily be poor pastors but simply uneducated when it comes to topography, geography, anthropology, history and sociology of the Ancient Near East. )

What's wrong with being nourishing (cold)? Usually called exhortation.
Because....
I'm not a doctor, nor do I pretend to be one on the internet...even during Covid Quarantines I did not engage in such activities.

I'm just serious in my faith and I do not trust my relationship with God and subsequent Eternal life to anyone....even my wife and I'll allow her to use my wallet and checkbook to pay the bills. I definitely won't let any pastor to do that for me no matter how much he might want to. Eternal life is infinitely more valuable than my finances.
Your Mileage May Vary = YMMV.
