I agree.
Much of the diagnosis results from the school teachers or their admin's referrals for parents to take their children to designated pediatricians that are part of the system. Kids, especially boys can be hyperactive by nature. It's normal for many to not be able to sit still and listen to a lecture beyond the personal attention span. That format doesn't work for everyone.
The pediatricians get a lot of business this way Rx and office visits. The teachers have more compliance with sedated students.
I've been told that the local middle schools no longer have a recess where children can play for an hour outside.
Schools are whole other issue, lots of politics and trying to fix a broken system.
My nephew is a specialist doctor and he told me there is a lot of pressure on doctors to do something, anything, patients often demand a prescription and so doctors comply.
Overall both people and doctors are to blame.
Sad state of affairs.
