Hey Everyone!

I may or may not have a 5 lb. bag of tater tots in my freezer.

1755184799390.jpeg

(I love how this picture clearly illustrates the exact dimensions, just in case anyone had any doubts a to how huge the bag really is!)

Yes, I'm a single person.
Yes, I'm the only one in the household who eats tater tots.
Yes, it seems ridiculous for ONE person to have a 5 lb., 15" X 15" bag of tater tots in her freezer.

But Don't Judge Me!

The store was out of the 2 lb. bag and I REALLY REALLY wanted tater tots. Plus, I'd already run plenty of errands that day and was too tired to run to yet another store.

So in this case, something as outlandish as a 5 lb. bag of tater tots for just one person can be justified -- at least, that's what I'm telling myself. (Admittedly, I'm now left wondering if most of the bag will become freezer burned before I have a chance to eat them all and it'll wind up being a waste of money.)

Maybe that's my punishment!

How about you?

* Have you ever obtained a ridiculous amount of something?

* Do you do things in ways other people deem weird?

* Do you use things in unconventional ways? (I use wooden coffee sticks to see if my houseplants need watering.)

* Do you have something in YOUR life that people might judge you for?

What are the things in your life that someone might judge you for -- and why are they actually perfectly reasonable? (What are your best excuses?)

All answers are welcome, from serious to satire to just plain silly. :)

I just ordered and received this:

And this a TWO-PACK for a total of 68 ounces! That is 4-1/4 POUNDS!

I'm trying to make this last for as long as possible One serving is 3 candies for a total of 70 calories but it's been very difficult just eating 3 candies a day! I just love the caramel flavor and smooth texture of these candies!

I have more things I love that make me scream "DON'T JUDGE ME!" I'll post them as they come to mind...:giggle:

Its completely justifiable if tater tot casserole is on the menu as it often is in some parts of the usa.

Easily justified Mam... Your usual single serving 2 lb bag of tater tots was not available so you acquired what was available, the 2 1/2 serving bag of tater tots. Enjoy!

I have enough toilet paper to probably last the rest of my life, and there will still be enough left for each of the 4 kids to inherit a fair amount. When my kids were growing up in the wilds of Alaska, I had a custom built home with massive amounts of storage space. I would buy massive amounts of things we used when there was an especially good sale on them. In that way I ended up with a lot of rolls of toilet paper in the bank, so to speak. With a family of six we went through those rolls pretty quickly. Then COVID came along and I didn't understand the fuss about toilet paper since I didn't need to buy any that whole time. When it became common again and prices were reasonable I stocked up. Turns out I didn't need to stock up because we still had a lot left. The kids grew up and moved out and now it's just the wife and I and we don't go through those rolls near as fast now. If I were to live another 25 years I'd probably still have plenty left. I can pretty much guarantee that the Rapture will occur before I run out of toilet paper... Well... that's one item I don't have to worry about running out of.

Judge me if you will, but if you ever visit you won't have to bring your own.

I don't have any room in my cabinets for dinnerware because I have way too many coffee cups. If I got rid of half the collection then I would have an entire shelf that I could devote to other things but half of my collection of coffee cups were gifts so I won't throw the cups I picked out for obvious reasons and I can't throw the others out because they are representative of others' thoughts of me.:(

I get 5 pound bags of nuggets, so I get it. Why pay $8 for a 2 pound bag when you can pay $12 for a 5 pound bag? Ya know.

It's awesome to see my fellow "Single But Buy In Bulk Believers!" emerge.

These posts bring up some great points -- buying in mass quantities is often cheaper and more convenient.

However...

For particularly delicious edibles, it does indeed pose the problem going overboard. I always find myself in a bind -- single serve or smaller amounts are less temptation, but usually cost several times more per ounce. I especially hate stores where it's "Buy 5, Get $5 Off" because in order to get the deal, you have to buy 5 usually very unhealthy things.

As much as I'd love to cart home 5 bags of chips and 5 cartons of ice cream, I would soon be the size of a house!

I really like the way my fellow posters think!!!

A jumbo-sized bag of tater tots is completely excusable for a casserole (never mind that I'd probably be eating all of THAT by myself as well...)

And like @Tall_Timbers said, all I REALLY did was upgrade to a 2 1/2 serving size bag of tots!:ROFL::ROFL:

Now if only I could convince my metabolism to think the same way.

My Mom always led by the example of working a few extra dollars into the grocery budget in case non-perishable staples went on sale. She always had extras of most anything that wouldn't spoil, and when I got my own place, I followed her example. I don't like that panicked feeling of running out of something necessary if I can prevent it.

While our collection isn't nearly as impressive as yours, when The Big You Know What hit, between the two of us, Mom and I had about a year's supply stored up. I kept spare packages in empty suitcases that I obviously wasn't using at the time.

Actually...

I just checked and though I have a full 12-pack in the main bathroom, "all" I have for backup is a 16-pack.

I'll need to pick up some extra the next time I go to Costco (any other singles out there have warehouse club memberships? I have the extra card from my family and use it for basis in bulk.)

There are many food items I buy in bulk because I frequent the salvage grocery. When you find a good deal there on something you like, you'd better buy all they have. You will never see it again.

But people have already mentioned various food items...

I have more than 12,000 songs in my music collection. I know, having a music collection at all is old-fashioned. Why don't you just get Spotify or Pandora or something? But I like to have a physical copy, or at least a copy on my phone, that I can take with me and call mine, not something I am permitted access to for one month.

Multiple times grandma has asked me, what are you going to do with all that? Well... Listen to it. Turn on some tunes for a long drive and the miles just melt away.

I may or may not have a... "modest"-sized collection of Squishmallows.

(No, this isn't my collection, but back in the day, I might have gone overboard like this.) I tend to only buy them when they're on sale after a holiday, and I'm extremely picky -- and cheap -- so I've only bought 2 in the last 4 years.

One of them is particularly famous on this forum, as he usually accompanies me on trips to visit other CC members (whether they're ready or not.)

This is just a picture from the internet, but I have the "little" Winston.

Winston is the part of my personality that says what he thinks and gets away with stuff. Unfortunately, I usually can't say what I'm thinking or get away with stuff, but that's what Winston is for.

One CC friend I visited is an excellent cook and baker, and when she said she hurt her shoulder, Winston looked at her and said, "I sure hope it wasn't your baking shoulder."

Sometimes I have to rescue Winston from his own antics (people have sometimes threatened to throw him across the room -- I have no idea why.)

Don't Judge Me!

Winston is my Emotional Support Stuffed Animal. I am also a proud card-carrying member of PETSA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Stuffed Animals -- the stuffed division of PETA, of course!)

Sometimes I need a hug.

When I hug Winston, I tell him that hugging him gets me in a lot less trouble than hugging a guy. :D (Disclaimer: This is a joke. I am not in any way trying to say that guys are bad, or that hugging a guy is bad.)

I'm just saying, Winston helps keep me from trying to hug the wrong guy. :)

Next time you go to a meet up, we need to meet Sammy. Just saying. Winston is long past due for retirement.

Winston also receives some VERY undue -- not to mention harsh -- discrimination.
Yeah he's becoming a real democrat. Being very demanding, then acting all confused about why in the world people would dislike him.

It's time we met rosie. We already know winston. Unfortunately. Or maybe holla could make a return. She never did get much time on the road.

Holla (spunky gray owl who likes to nap) used to be my traveling companion until she witnessed... an unfortunate act of nature.

One of my CC friends had a cat -- that had had an unfortunate "incident" with a bird -- right in front of the window where poor Holla was napping. Imagine waking up to seeing one of your fellow species being caught and eaten.

And she has been traumatized ever since.

So far, I haven't been able to convince her to make another trip.

However, she does love Italian food (is there such a thing as an Italian Owl?!)

So maybe if someone makes a big batch of lasagna, I might be able to convince her to go.

The Spaghetti Spoon

spaghetti-spoon-today-160706.jpg

One day, I had an itch on my back and I couldn't reach it. There wasn't anything close by to help me.

What can I use? .... I know! I went to the kitchen, reached into the utensils drawer and got the spaghetti spoon!

I went back to the living room and while watching TV on the sofa, I scratched the itch on my back to my hearts content!

Only I forgot about the spoon.... I remembered about later on, but didn't see it on the sofa. Where did I put it??? I'm kind of absent-minded, so I forgot about continuing to search for it!

A few weeks later....

My brother comes to me and says, "I found this. Why was the spaghetti spoon behind the sofa cushions???"

I laughed so hard! Because I couldn't answer his question and he had a funny, puzzled look on his face, like "What on earth could my sister be using a spaghetti spoon in the living room?!??"

I didn't tell anybody else about the Mysterious Case of the Spaghetti Spoon, but come that Christmas, we all got official back scratchers as stocking stuffer gifts from my Mom, lol!:love::ROFL::giggle:
