GM Bob, Life is hard sometimes is it not. I got passed over on the good looks department too. I have some nice features but I am not what you call attractive. I understand the allure of online because you can get to know the soul and let them know your soul. I believe God will give you what you are seeking Bob. Keep the faith.

I wouldnt know, anything is possible however its always safe to be careful, a wise person once adviced me, why should you trust someone online easily when you dont easily trust the strangers on the street.

I tried Christiancafe.com and hated the whole experience. No one would respond to me if I wrote them, or if they did, wouldn't write back. One guy told me to buzz off when I said that I thought his emphasis on materialism was problematic. Really rude guy (maybe I was wrong to say so to him...) The ones who wrote me, very rarely, were people I had no theological compatibility with or else they wanted kids or something (I don't).

It isn't wrong at all; I've met some of my closest friends on the internet. If the physical aspect of a relationship is so important to a person (especially a Christian), then they should put some real consideration as to why. Of course you should be physically attracted to the person, but online (or long distance relationships) helps me avoid making allot of fleshly mistakes I would have made if the person was right next to me. But I guess that isn't too helpful for me anyways "so a man thinks in his heart, so is he" right?

Personally, I've found some very good friends on the net (on this site), but the relationship didn't start with the phrase "Do you have a boyfriend?" 
. I like starting friendships where appropriate and letting God take the relationship where He wants it to go, staying prayerful about it the whole time; saves so much heartache that way. Besides, even if we do end up getting married, we'll still need to be friends, so we'll have good practice .

Well ok never say never is the good old saying. I mean I cant say I never done this in fact I was engaged too a man who I met online my ex and things didnt end because it went wrong more like he just left cheated. So it can work same as any other relationships.Takes more work and takes really caring for person too date over computer or phone I mean for me they are not online since if I ever date someone online again I mean i dont date thinking ill never meet them really it may take a while but trust me if person and me are dating we well meet eventually. I mean a god example are my parents that real love exist even at a distance. They met in her home town they started dating he came too visit uncle in cali my mom was in some part in mexico they wrote letters for a year didnt see each other for a year.They maybe talked once every two weeks. He would send her presents and love letter in fact up too this date they have there love letters in this pretty box and his letters too her where soo sweet and so where hers hehe... I love too think of my parents as romeo and julieta hhhehee..

So it is possible and not I mean you never know. I knows soo many people friends who met there spouses online and been married for years. Its kinda enteresting since you get too know person more before you meet by time u meet well theres no more shyness... I talked too my ex like two months over msn cam then we met lol.. so yeah....ANYTHING is possible..

I see the net as a place for people to reach out to others, not necessarily to avoid relationships. I would love to have a boyfriend or male/female friend to do things with, but live in a small town (love small towns) and the people here have full lives with family & friends they grew up with. I totally get it. I just didn't grow up here. I know plenty of people - they're just busy with their lives. End result...loneliness since I have no family/friends here.

I agree 382% with Liamson. Distance allows for our minds to fill in the blanks. Especially when we want to like someone we fill in the blanks with rainbows and puppies. I, personally, fill in every blank with the worst things of which I can think. That way if I were ever to meet someone casually my expectations would either be met or exceeded. Anyway, I also agree with Sooner28 - meeting someone online and then expanding from that after meeting in real life changes the game.
Even skype and the phone allow for hidden qualities. It's just not enough. And honestly, with long distance relationships there is a whole slew of other things to consider related to trust, daily life, etc.
I have nothing against those who try it out... just a ton of hope that they are cautious and realistic.
